A new time-restricted Quest and Collections Mission has been released on the same day as the start of the new Hallowe'en Theme Farm Beauty Contest. Note that the Decorations given as the special Rewards for the Farm Investigation Mission are not part of the Hallowe'en Theme.
The Collections Mission has a Reward that is a 'Collectable', which means that it cannot be purchased in the Market at this point. You therefore need to complete the Collections Mission by the time you reach Farm Investigation 8 with the task of placing the Chia Bush on the Farm, or be prepared to pay 10 RC to skip the task.
Note that the traditional Quest sequence follows the recent change that extends the number of parts to 16 and basically is divided between the first part, that requires access only to the original Seaside Farm and the second part, that requires access to the Island. At the end of Farm Investigation 8, you will receive a special Reward in the form of a Decoration for your original Farm. If you continue from there through Farm Investigation 16, you will receive a special Decoration for your Island Farm.
Recently, the Botanic Garden has been included in these Quest sequences and there is a task that requires that you tend flowers in your Garden six times. The same task appeared in the last time-restricted Quest. Evidently, the original task envisioned was to crossbreed a flower but that was considered too difficult...
It appears that this Mission is unlocked only when you reach Level 18.
Island Transport Tips

If you have access to the Island and intend to complete the entire Quest sequence, it may be useful to make certain that you have all the ingredients required to produce Task items in advance when possible. For example, you will need a total of 50 Blueberries and 30 Strawberries for use in Island Machines to produce items for Tasks later in the sequence. The actual transport of these fruits is not a task in itself so can be done in advance. Note that 50 Honey will be required for the Pies, but I recommend that players ALWAYS have plenty of Honey in the Island Barn as it is used in more than one Island Machine.
Note that the Strawberries have to be dried in the Dehydrator before they can be used to make the Strawberry Bread in the Flavoured Bread Machine. You can dry them in advance.
On the other hand, transport of 60 Cotton IS one of the tasks in the sequence. A note of caution here: if you are transporting the fruits, make certain that you either transport the Cotton at a separate time or collect everything only when you reach the point in the sequence where the Cotton transport task is active. You cannot pick and choose which items to collect. Once the Cotton has arrived, you either have to collect it and everything else that has arrived or wait until you have reached the point in the Quest sequence where the Cotton is required.
Another item that can be transported to the Island in advance is the Ostrich Feathers needed to produce 50 Ostrich Hats. The transport is not a task in the sequence, so send them to the Island after producing them.

Strategies for Mission

You have 11 days to complete both the Collections Mission and the Farm Investigation Quest sequence, so there really is no need to rush through either, unless you are involved in some sort of personal competition with other farmers. It can be expensive to skip tasks or even to use Farm Aids to speed their completion. I know from experience as I do try to complete these Quests as quickly as possible on my Harvest Moon Farm in order to write this little guide... on Rosewood, on the other hand, I take my time.
If you are willing to spend RC to skip any tasks, the one to skip in this sequence is the placement of the Chia Bush on your Farm. If you spend 10 RC, you can skip the task rather than waiting to complete the Collections Mission. What this means, however, is that you will need to spend 6 RC more to purchase the Chia Seeds needed to make the Chia Pudding. Do not by any means skip THAT task. You will need those Chia Puddings later to make Chia Porridge. I do advise you to complete the Collections Mission because you cannot buy the Chia Bush in the Market at this point, although Collectables that are Quest rewards are added to the Market once the Quest expires. You will need more Chia Seeds later in the sequence in any case.
If you cannot move forward to complete current tasks, use the time to make the basic ingredients needed in some of the Cooked Dishes. You really ought to have certain Dishes in your Barn at all times. These include Batter, Cake Flour, Soft Dough, Sour Cream, Cheese Salad, Cornmeal and Coconut Milk. Cottage Cheese and Condensed Milk are other basics that appear again and again. In truth, Orange Crumble and Steak Tartare are used frequently and both are required to complete Tasks in this sequence. Egg Soup is needed for one of the Recipes in this Quest sequence and is made with Seaweed, so make certain that you have sufficient Seaweed on hand in advance if possible. One of the tasks requires 8 uses of the Squid Hook but if you use the Boost, it counts as a single use.
