All about Pets and Guests

Last updated in January 2019 with Cave and Meerkat Information

Recent Pet Additions to the Game:  These include two premium Pets in the form of the White Bear and the Welsh Corgi, and two regular 'earnable' Pets in the form of the Meerkat (Cave Guests) and Chocolate Corgi (Community Exotic Shop)

Introduction
xxxxxxxxxx

Much has changed since the Pet House and Guest House were introduced.  Apart from the regular Pets you can earn by collecting cards from different Guest Groups, there now are quite a few 'premium pets' with better stats and more skill slots than most of the regular Pets.  You now have a multitude of Pet Slots in the Pet House and breeding rules have been modified to guarantee that any 'baby' will inherit the skills of one parent at least.

You need Pets in this game now for many reasons.  Recently, Well-Dressed Pets became part of the Farm Beauty Contest, for example,  You need to have active four Pets, each of whom is wearing two pieces of apparel as well as one accessory to obtain the full 12 Votes for Grandma for this new Category.

Apart from this, Pets digging and opening Chests is often one of the tasks mandated in the 11 day 'Friday' Quests.  The rewards found in the Chests can include Batch Cleaning Green Tickets, farm aids of various kinds and even RC.  So the days when one could ignore the Pets as a cute but unnecessary aspect of the game are gone.

The 'regular' Pets available to all Players provided they have unlocked and filled orders from the right group of Guests in Mootopia or Wilderness are as follows:

Lab
Cat
Turtle
Bear
Hedgehog
Hippo
Kangaroo

Of these, the Turtle and the Hippo are 'water' Pets which means they can service Guests who are either on land or who stay in the water.

At Level 151, there is a special Pet that can be obtained using Cards, not from Guest Orders but from the Experience Bank.  This is the Poodle.

Premium Pets are as follows:

Black Lab
Chocolate Lab
Maple Cat
Misty Cat
Red Turtle
White Bear
Welsh Corgi

These premium Pets can be raised to Level 25 in each case where the corresponding 'regular' Pet can be raised only to Level 20.  (There are regular Pets who can reach Level 25, but not the Lab, Cat or Turtle).  They have a total of 4 Skill Slots as opposed to the random number you receive when you trade cards for a 'regular Pet'.  A 'regular' Pet can have 1 to 3 Skill Slots and the number is RANDOM.

The developers have been including a special sale for one of the 'premium' Pets every month recently.  If you are a player who does not like to struggle with any new aspect of the game, buying a premium Pet is far better than servicing countless Guests to obtain enough Pet Cards to trade for a Pet that may have only one slot or at best three.  On the other hand, if you are patient and raise your regular Pets to their maximum Levels and fill whatever Pets slots have been given to you by the Game God, and moreover forge the best accessories for each, you can do quite well without any premium Pets.

Sources of Pet Cards
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

All Pets, whether 'regular' Pets or premium Pets are obtained by having a specific number of Pet Cards.  You must use the Cards from the Pet House Menu in order to obtain an actual Pet and you cannot obtain any Pet if you do not have a vacant slot for that Pet.

Pet House Menus
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The Pet House has a number of different Menus.  There are two separate tabs to the left of the Pet House when opened and there are three at the top.  It is the second of these, with the icon of a blackboard that allows you to use your Cards for actual Pets.

You do need to access the second or bottom tab on the left, however, to see if you have an available slot for a new Pet.  The icon for this is a pawprint.  Each new slot in the Pet House has a set of materials or requirements to unlock.  These all are given in a separate section of this article below.

For now, go to the blackboard icon (second tab at the top of Pet House) to see all available cards that can be used to obtain new Pets.

The totals needed are as follows:

Labrador: 300 Lab Cards
Cat: 300 Cat Cards
Turtle: 300 Turtle Cards
Bear: 100 Bear Cards
Black Labrador: 100 Black Lab Cards*
Maple Cat: 100 Maple Cat Cards*
Poodle: 100 Poodle Cards
Hedgehog: 300 Hedgehog Cards
Hippo: 300 Hippo Cards
Chocolate Labrador: 300 Chocolate Lab Cards*
Kangaroo: 300 Kangaroo Cards
Red Turtle: 100 Red Turtle Cards*
Misty Cat: 100 Misty Cat Cards*
White Bear: 100 White Bear Cards*
Welsh Corgi: 100 Welsh Corgi Cards*
Chocolate Corgi: 50 Chocolate Corgi Cards

For the most part, any sale offer for a Premium Pet Packet will give you the total number of Cards needed to obtain that Pet.  As of this moment, all premium Pets require a total of 100 Cards.

Cards you either earn or purchase go to the Gift Box.  When you open this Menu for the Pet House acquisition of new pets, you will see the icon of a wrapped gift if there are any Cards to be retrieved from your Gift Box.  Where the premium Pets are concerned, the sale usually gives a packet that has to be used from the Gift Box to actually give you the Pet Cards.  You then either can transfer them to the Pet House or do so from the Pet House menu by tapping on the wrapped gift icon.

Most regular Pet Cards are earned by completing orders from specific Guest groups.  There are two other ways to earn these cards, however.

Farmer's Fair
xxxxxxxxxxx

One recent option is the Farmer's Fair.  This is accessed by tapping on a hot air balloon at the top of your farm.  You will see the option to Start a Team or Join a Team.  I have covered the Farmer's Fair in another post but suffice it to say here that it is a way to earn more Cards for the regular/non-premium Pets.

To unlock the Farmer's Fair, you need to have unlocked all of the four areas of Mootopia, but only need to have unlocked the 1 Star Guests.

There are two ways to participate in the Farmer's Fair.  One is by creating your own Team and inviting others to join.  The other is by joining an existing team.

Special Pet Apparel
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The other way to earn Pet Cards for ordinary Pets, including the Bear, is by purchasing the special apparel that is offered occasionally in a special sales offer.  Often these premium hats, cloaks, glasses and so on include a specific number of Pet Cards when the item is limited to one type of Pet.  In other words, the hats can be worn by all Pets so usually do not include any Pet Cards, but if you buy spectacles/glasses for a Bear, you may receive 15 Bear Cards with that item.  For those who do not like the 3 Star Guest Group orders, it is one way to save Bear Cards and ultimately obtain a Bear.

I will continue to add updates to this post now and go through the original to modify whatever has changed but for the most part, it should be useful to players as it stands.

This is a post I wrote when the Pet option first was released.  A few details have changed.  For example, initially you HAD to have 2 Turtles to progress in Mootopia.  Recently, a friend who had begun to work seriously on the Pet option after a year of virtual inertia told me that the game will 'give' you that requirement now.  He had only one Turtle, you see.

The following post deals extensively with Pets, the Guest House with its Mootopia Map and Guest Groups and with Landscape Points.  Last updated on 28 October 2017 with sections about available areas of Wilderness and their Guest Lists.  I added a section below that will give a list of all the Characters you can meet in the Guest Groups you invite with the Rewards that they give.  This is particularly useful if you wish to obtain specific Pet Cards.  At present, all Guests through 3 Star Metropolis are included in the list and there are Lists from Forest and Lagoon as well.

Note that the Auto-Bargain option for Guests now is unlocked at Level 1 Country Club!  Basically, what this means is that all players with Pets should be able to use it.

Here is a link to the post about the Wilderness Map:

New Wilderness Map and Guests

I have copied the Wilderness information below as well to consolidate this post for quick reference to all possible areas of both maps and guests.

(Screenshot shows a Buddy Pet digging for a Chest alongside the farmer's own Pet Labrador Puppy)

Note on 20 February 2017:  I wrote this post when the Pet House was a new option.  As time went on, there were changes as well as additions to the system.  I really need to rewrite the entire post, but I have updated it to make the differences between Pet House upgrades and unlocking new slots clear in any case.  Furthermore, the developers regularly offer us special pets in their special sales offers.  The initial stats of these new Pets, namely the Black Labrador, Chocolate Labrador,  the Maple Cat and now the Red Turtle can be significantly higher than those of the Pets we can earn from the ordinary Guest Group Orders.

Introduction to Pets and Paths
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Family Farm Seaside has made extensive changes to the entire game in the past year.  Charm Points took a 'back seat'  to Landscape Points but now are added together,  appearing now in the top left of your screen with the icon of a Musical Note as a combination of the total of your Landscape Points and Charm Points.

There have been some small changes as well that allow one to clean Decorations stored in the Warehouse as well as other useful modifications of old options, but the major thrust of the update was to bring Pets, Guests and Paths to your Seaside Farm.

This post gives all information about these changes, including the four part Quest sequence that introduces you to your first Pet, instructs you on laying your first Paths and gives you the Guest House that allows Guests to visit your Farm.  You will find this quest below.

I have listed all Paths and Water Paths with their values below as well.  What you need to understand initially is that every Path and Water Path has a sphere of influence that allows a maximum number of Landscape Points to be added to your Farm.  The Paths with the greatest values allow a total of 50 Landscape Points to be added.  These are the Macaron and Pebble Paths as well as a limited seasonal Ice Path.  There is a new Paths Menu in the main Tools Menu that allows you to add Paths, move Paths and store them as needed.  You even can purchase any Path or Water Path through this Menu.  The Macaron and Pebble Paths cost 1 RC each.  There is a Water Path Shore that costs 1 RC as well.  Other than these, all prices are coin prices.  Remember that you can send the Macaron Path to your Buddies for 1 RC if you wish to earn Buddy Points and there are two Coin purchase Paths costing 500 Coins and 800 Coins respectively that you can send to your Buddies.

Essentially, the best way to maximise your Landscape points is by laying your Paths in a single long row rather than creating blocks of tiles.  The reason for this is the sphere of influence that each Path has.  If you can have only a maximum of 50 points added to your total Landscape Points, placing four tiles with the 50 point influence together in a block usually will waste some of the influence those tiles could have had if they had been spread out.  The game tutorial shows paths on the border of Crops for the most part.  Many farmers are placing their paths on the outside boundaries of their farms, then placing their Decorations alongside them, favouring Bases if possible as they have the largest Point values.

Remember always that a Chest can fall randomly on ANY Path.  Before this update, we used our paths simply to decorate our Farms.  You need to gather up all Paths and then connect them to the Pet House/Guest House if you do not wish to have Chests on your farm that cannot be reached by your Pets. In a later section of this post, I explain the Paths Menu and how to use the Search Option to find all the Paths on your Farm.

Water Paths are essential ony if you wish to be able to invite the third group of Guests from Peaceful Bay.  There are three Guests from Peaceful Bay at 1 Star level and only one of them uses the Water but if you do not have a specific number of Water Paths on your Farm, you will not even be able to extend an invitation.  Moreover, if you do not have a Turtle, you cannot unlock Peaceful Bay!  The Turtle is the only Pet that can reach the Peaceful Bay Guest named Mimi who floats down your waterways in a tube.  Note that you will need 2 Turtles to unlock Level 2 Peaceful Bay and you may find three guests in the water when 2 Star Guests are invited.  Finally, you will need 4 Pets at Level 12 to unlock the first Level 3 area of the Mootopia Map.

Turtle Requirement Change:  It is here that the game now appears to give you credit for 2 Turtles if you have only 1 when you are at the point where you could unlock Level 2 Peaceful Bay.

The Turtle Cards that you need to obtain your first Turtle are given for completing the initial Pet Quest sequence and then randomly by specific guests when you complete their Orders.  I have provided a list of all Guests in all areas of Mootopia with their Gift Lists.  Some give only Turtle Cards.  Others give either Labrador or Cat Cards.  Always remember that you may not receive any Pet Cards at all from a Guest as the Rewards are random.  You need a total of 300 Turtle Cards to obtain the first Turtle that is one of the requirements for unlocking the third area of Mootopia.  Without unlocking the third area, you cannot unlock the fourth and final area, so having a Turtle is vital to the business of unlocking the Mootopia Map.

Note that recently, the game has been offering Pet Packages that contain random number of random Pet Cards as well as selling special new Pets like the Black Lab and the Maple Cat outright, so it is not really necessary any longer to complete endless numbers of Guest Orders in order to obtain additional Pets although the cost in real money of opting out of the work may be more than many players wish to pay!  Nonetheless, it is good to know that there are alternatives.

The Labrador is your first Pet and the little Quest that ultimately gives you the Guest House will advise you how to feed it and keep its Stamina high.  It will instruct you in the proper placement of Paths as well.  The bottom line is that you must connect BOTH the Pet House and the Guest House using Paths and, if you wish to unlock and invite the Peaceful Bay Guests, you must have a minimum number of Water Paths on your Farm and they must be connected to the Pet/Guest House compound if they are to be useful.

Your Pet Levels will increase only if you USE them.  Using them depletes their energy and you then have to feed them.  Feeding them gives them the points they need to increase their Levels.  Whenever you access the Pet House, tap on the 'i' for information to see if your Pet can level up.   You will see the total number of points that your Pet has earned with the number needed for the upgrade next to it.  Tap on Level Up.   You then can choose between the different increases that the new Level can give, whether it is an increase in Stamina, in sales ability or a new ability.  Basically, most players feel that an increase in Maximum Stamina is far more useful than an increase in sales ability.

Some one pointed out that every task gives a different amount of XP and it is actually the performance of the tasks that contributes to the increase in levels.  In my view, though, the resultt is the same,  because every task depletes energy as well.   If the pet doesn't work, he/she will not be hungry.  If he/she is not hungry, you cannot feed the pet.  There is a direct correlation therefore between the performance of tasks and the need to restore energy, whether by feeding the pet or resting in the house.

Pet House, Guest Centre and Paths
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The new update is a Pet House and a Guest Centre with a new four part Quest sequence that will provide you with the Guest Centre.   The use of Paths is required to join the two and indeed to use the Pet at all or to give you the Landscape Points that now have become a vital part of the game.   Moreover, Chests will appear randomly on the Paths.  Your Pet will open them and they will contain small rewards in the form of OP, Mystrons and Coins, among other things.  The rewards are not as great as those received through the Daily Quest path but as you can open many Chests in the courage of one day, they add up.  The minimum number of Chests is 20.  Adding more Landscape Points through the addition of Paths and Water with Decorations within their sphere of influence increases the number of Chests that will appear.

Note here that the number of land Paths and Water Paths on your Seaside Farm will determine the Groups of Guests from the various areas of Mootopia that you can invite to your Farm.  Every area and Star Level has its own Path requirements and they usually include a specific total of Water Paths as well as Land Paths.

For example, the initial Group of Guests that can be invited are the 1 Star Group from the Farm Co-op quarter of the Mootopia Map.  In order to be able to invite them, you need a total of 10 regular Land Paths.  The next group is the 1 Star Group from the Schoolhouse quarter, requiring only 15 Land Paths BUT if you wish to invite the next Group which is the 1 Star Group from Peaceful Bay, you will need a total of 15 Land Paths and 9 Water Paths.   From that point on, the Guest Group requirements include Water Paths as well as Land Paths, although the total will not increase for awhile.

It is rather confusing at first, because there are requirements for UNLOCKING each area of the Map and each Star Level as well.  These are very different from the Guest Group requirements.  Once an area of the Map at any Star Level is unlocked, it will remain unlocked forever.  The requirements for any Guest Group, however, need to be met each time you wish to invite that group in the sense that, should you REMOVE Land or Water Paths from your Farm, you could find yourself unable to invite a specific Group of Guests that requires them.

All Pet-related activities are on timers.  What this means is more busywork.  You have to be on your farm almost constantly if you wish to keep the pet motivated to feed it, direct it to open more Chests and discover Guest orders.  There is an Auto-Bargain option, however, in the main Menu that, when set, will allow your Pets to greet Guests and bargain with them, without your direction.  You still have to complete the Orders yourself but they will appear in the To-Do List in the Guest House for you to complete at your convenience.

The important element here, when using the Auto-Bargain option is to make certain that you monitor your Pets' Energy Levels because, should a Pet's Stamina fall below the amount that is required to bargain with a Guest that has been invited, the Guest will walk about aimlessly and ultimately leave unhappy!  Every Guest has his/her own Bargaining requirement in terms of the amount of Stamina used to obtain an order from him or her.  For example, one of the Guests that may visit from Peaceful Bay at the 1 Star level is Mia.  Your Pet will need 60 Stamina to obtain an order from her.  Huey, another Guest who may accompany her on the visit, requires only 40 Stamina for a successful bargaining session.  When you go higher, however, at the 2 Star Level, you will find Guests that need 150 Stamina for a successful bargaining session.  If your Pet has used too much Stamina without resting or being fed to restore it, you will find that the Guests may leave unsatisfied and you will not be able to find any Orders from them.

If, on the other hand, your Pets have sufficient Stamina to obtain 100% of the Orders, even if you are not on the Farm, the Orders will be stored safely in the To-Do List to be filled when you next enter the game.  This is a critical part of the Pet and Guest System.

Note that the Guest Visits are on a timer as well as the apperance of new Chests.  There is a limit to the number of Chests that will appear within a day and this is based on your Landscpae Point total, found now where Charm Point total once was found.  Once you have exhausted that limit, you have to wait until reset..  The Farm Co-op that allows you to call Guests to the Guest House has a gauge with a book with a star in the centre.  This is your Passport.  The default is a one-star Passport. When you have unlocked 2 Star areas of Mootopia, you will be able to use a 2 Star Passport.  More on this below.    The timer  for Guest visits, at least at this stage, appears to operate for a day, resetting at the same time that everything resets in the game with one important exception.  If you invite a group of Guests BEFORE reset and reset occurs while those Guests are still within the period of time allotted by their timer, they will remain on the farm and the bargaining will remain active.  It appears as though any Buddy Pet you borrowed before reset will return home, but your own Pets will continue to bargain with the Gudes.

Although the system that bestows Landscape Points on your farm really is not that complicated, it may appear daunting at the beginning.  I therefore have added a step-by-step tutorial on Paths/Water below.

Charm Points and Landscape Points
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Essentially, this completely changes the game in some respects. The Charm Point total that once appeared on your screen has been replaced by a musical note total.  The Musical Notes signify your Landscaping Points.  You can increase these by increasing the number of paths on your Farm and placing Decorations near them.  Every Path has a different value in this respect.  I believe that the Macaron Path and Pebble Path are the highest, allowing a maximum of 50 Landscape Points.

Step-By-Step Paths/Water Tutorial
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The new system is based on the use of Paths and Water.  Landscape Point totals are given on the top left of your screen where Charm Point totals once lived.  The goal is to increase your Landscape Point totals while making certain that Paths and Water Paths are connected to your Pet House and Guest House.

For most players, this will require a total redesign of your Farm.  Every Path that you own now is part of the System and any Paths not placed on the farm will be available in the Paths Tool Bar, accessed through the basic Tool Menu.  When you access the Path Placement Menu there, you will be able to purchase any Paths you do not own.  Most have Coin costs but the most valuable, the Macaron and Pebble Paths costs 1 RC each.

These Paths are the most valuable because they carry a Maximum Landscape Point total of 50.  What does this mean?  Well, what it means is that any Decorations placed within the Path's sphere of influence will increase your Landscape Point total UP TO 50 Points.  You can see the precise effect of any Decoration placement by using the Move Tool on it.  As ou move it near your Paths and Water tiles, you will see how it will increase your Landscape Point total.  If, however, you have reached the maximum allowed by ALL your paths and water tiles, the effect will be zero points.

Some players find this confusing but you simply need to experiment with Decorations placement near Paths.  If the maximum has been reached for the sphere of influence of one Path, you may be able to move the Decoration close enough to another Path that has not reached its maximum to increase your Landscape Point total.

TC Currency
xxxxxxxxxxxx

There is new currency in the form of TC that either can be earned by using the Pet System or purchased with RC.  TC is the currency needed for many new options as well as refreshing the Daily Order Board, once done with RC.

New Path/Water Tool Bar
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The Path System as well as Pond and other water has changed the Tool Bar to add many more options.  Use the primarty Tool icon to access the new menu which will allow you to place paths or store paths, place Pond Water or store it.  Note here that only Paths that are in your Gift Box will remain there until you remove them.  All other paths and Pond water  'in storage' will be found only when you access the Tool Menu for path placement or storage.  If you do not have the premium paths like Macaron Path, there are two free paths that can be found in the Tool Menu and you can place as many of those as you wish provided always you have the space for it on your farm.

There is a Search option in the Tool Bar for Paths on your farm.  This is the best way to find Paths that are hidden behind Trees or Decorations.  It has to be done as Chests randomly can appear on ANY Path on your Farm whether connected or not.

Cleaning Decorations in Warehouse
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Apart from all the Pet options, Decorations stored in your Warehouse now can be cleaned by visitors.  Unfortunately, we have not been given more slots in our Warehouses to provide for storage of items to make space for these two new Buildings and the connecting paths.

New Gallery Registrations
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Your Botanic Garden Flowers and Friendship Flowers now can be registered in the Gallery.  It takes many hours to register a flower and unfortunately, you cannot register any Flower that was sold in the past.  It will appear in your Botanic Garden Flower Book but you will not be able to register it.  What this means, in effect, is that farmers have to breed the rare flower again and have it in their Garden again before it can be registered.

Your ordinary Crops can be registered now as well.

Chest Location Warning
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Warning:  A Chest can appear on ANY Path, whether or not it is connected ot the Pet House or Guest House.  In other words, if you previously used Path squares as Decorations anywhere, a Chest can pop up there rather than on a path that is connected and if it is behind a tree or other Decoration, it may be difficult to find, even though an Exclamation Point will appear over any Chest.  Once it has been connected to the Pet House/Guest House, you can tap on it to begin the process of your Pet digging to dislodge it and open it.  Use the new Search Tool in the Paths/Pond Tool Bar to find hidden paths to remove or move them.

Landscape Points
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Landscape Points are earned by placing paths, pond water and by placing Decorations near these. Whenever you use the Search Tool in the Paths Menu, you will see the number of Landscape Points that can be earned at any Path or Pond location.  Paths have different values in this respect.  Values are as follows:

Macaron Path: 50 Landscape Points
Pebble Floor: 50 Landscape Points
Snow Path: 50 Landscape Points (seasonal)
Wooden Path: 35 Landscape Points
Forest Path: 25 Landscape Points
Stone and Flower Path: 20 Landscape Points
Stone Path: 15 Landscape Points
Brick Path: 12 Landscape Points
Country Path: 12 Landscape Points

Water tiles have Landscape Point values as well as follows:

Pond Water: 25 Landscape Points
Pond Shore: 50 Landscape Points

The Pond Shore costs 1 RC, and if you do not own any, like any of the paths, it can be purchased through the Paths Placement Tool.

The Brick Path and Country Path are free of charge so if you are a new player or have not collected many paths over the years, you can use as many of these as you wish.  As for the others, you either will find them now in the Path Tool Menu, on your Farm or in your Gift Box.  Remove all that you wish to use from your Gift Box as they will be sotred automatically in the Tool Menu if you later decide you no longer want them on your farm.

Placing a Decoration within the influence area of a Path will allow it to increase your Landscape Points provided always that the allowed number of points has not been used.  You can see how many points remain when you place the Decoration.  Moreover, when you use the Move Tool on any Decoration now, you will see a little display that shows how many points it will earn when placed in the influence area of the Path.

As previously indicated, the Pond tiles are used for the Turtle when you invite Guests from Peaceful Bay and thus will have Landscape Point values as well.  Placing Decorations within their sphere of influence will increase your Landscape Point total. Although a Turtle likes water, you do not NEED to have Water Paths for the Turtle.  It is one of the Paradise Bay Guests, the third area of Mootopia, that uses the Water Paths when they visit.  In particular, it is Mimi, who will float down the waterways inside a tube.

Correlation between Landscape Points and Chests
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The number of Landscape Points that you have determines the number of Chests your Pet can open on any given day.

Up to 1000 Landscape Points: You can open 20 Chests
1198 Landscape Points:  You can open 25 Chests
Maximum number of Chests has been reduced now to 40 per day even if you have 5000 Landscape Points or above

Landscape Points and Farm Beauty Contest
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Although  the total number displayed in the Farm Stats menu, now is a combination of Landscape Points and Charm Points, shown in the top left of the screen. Landscape Points have replaced Charm Points as an aspect of your Farm for which three of the four Characters give Votes in the Farm Beauty Contests now.

To gain the maximum number of Votes for the Characters who value Landscape or, in their own words, 'Beautiful paths with high landscape points' that give you 24/24 Votes for that category, you need about 2320.  2320 Points will give you the maximum... I will try to pinpoint the absolute minimum of Landscape Points that are required.

Why Add to Paths and Landscape Points?
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

If you can obtain the maximum number of Character Votes for Landscape and Paths with 2320 Points, why would any one increase the number to 5000?  Well, for a start, the number of paths will determine the number of Landscape Points determines the number of Chests that will appear in the course of a day.  One of the items found randomly in Chests is the Telescope.  If you wish to unlock all areas at all Star Levels of Mootopia, you will need quite a few Telescopes.  You can find them ultimately even if you have only the minimum number of 20 Chests per day but it will take longer.

You need specific numbers of Paths and Water Paths to unlock new Levels of Mootopia, giving you new groups of Guests.  To unlock the NEXT Level, you need to invite the Guests from the previous level and make specific totals in your Sales to them.  Every group of Guests gives different gifts, although some are common to more than one group or more than one guest.  Moving forward constantly, whether slowly or quickly, will allow you to unlock new options.

Simple Explanation of Mootopia and Passports
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I am adding this little section as many players have been confused by the map and the Passports.  The fact of the matter is that, although the map of Mootopia shows only four areas, each of these areas has three Levels that must be unlocked.  The first is 1 Star, the next 2 Star and the third is 3 Star for any area.

When you have unlocked the first Level of all areas of Mootopia, you will go on to unlock each of the 2 Star areas in the same order as the first ones.  The 2 Star areas are linked to the 2 Star Passports.  Once you have unlocked a 2 Star area, you will see the option to invite EITHER the 1 Star Guests or the 2 Star Guests.  You should find that you have 2 Passports each day at that point.  One will be a 1 Star Passport to invite 1 Star Guest groups and the other will be a 2 Star Passport for the 2 Star Guest Groups.

When you have unlocked a 3 Star area, you will see the option to invite the 1 Star Group, the 2 Star Group or the 3 Star Group and you will have 3 Passports, one for each level of Guest Groups.  The 3 Star Passport refreshes only once each week.  At this point in time, it will occur between Thursday night and Friday morning usually (depending on your time zone).

Note that the only way to satisfy the requirements to unlock the NEXT level of any area of Mootopia is to invite the highest group of Guests from the previous Level unlocked.  In other words, you need to invite the 2 Star Guests of the Farm Co-op area in order to satisfy the Coin totals and Highest Score Totals needed to unlock the 2 Star level of Peaceful Bay.

This is important enough to repeat in capital letters as many players have been confused as to why their totals are not being displayed in the requirements list for unlocking the next area of the Map:

THE ONLY WAY TO SATISFY THE REQUIREMENT FOR TOTAL SALES TO
UNLOCK THE NEXT AREA OF MOOTOPIA IS WITH YOUR SALES TO THE
GUEST GROUP FROM THE LAST AREA YOU UNLOCKED.

Strategies for Unlocking New Areas
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Pets and Guests have been a part of Seaside for over a year now and there have been many changes.  We have two separate Maps instead of one.  Every Map has four quarters and 3 different Star Guest Groups for each quarter.  It is important to unlock the 2 Star Guest Group for every area of both Maps but 3 Star Guest Groups actually are optional.   You will obtain more Rewards if you can invite and satisfy any 3 Star Guest Group but the amount of items needed can be prodigious.  If you are patient, you can obtain all the Pet Cards you need for most of the Pets by simply using 2 Star Guest Groups.  The exception to this is the Bear.  The Bear Cards are given solely by 3 Star Mootopia Guest Groups and the Bear may or may not be a Pet that you wish to earn.  Bears have one advantage over the other 'earned' Pets in that the Level of a Bear can be increased to 25 instead of the usual 20.   The Bear starts with 1000 Stamina but only 80 Sales.  80 Sales is very low in terms of being useful to ANY Guest.  In order to be able to service many of the 'Medium' Difficulty Guests, you need to raise a Pet's Sales Ability to 350.  Some of the 'Hard' or 'Difficult' Guests require 700 Stamina per order.  Always make certain that your 'Active' Pets are equal to the task of satisfying the Guests that you invite.

Apart from the ability to collect Bear Cards, unlocking 3 Star Guest Groups in Mootopia is not a task that is necessary.  It is your actions in 2 Star Metropolis that determine your ability to unlock the second Wilderness Map.

Is there any purpose in taking orders from Mootopia Guests who give only Labrador or Turtle Cards once you have more than sufficient Cards of this nature or Pets of this sort?  The answer is that it might be beneficial in terms of other Rewards, especially Pink Paint, needed to unlock new Slots for Pets as well as the benefit of increasing Pet Levels for low level Pets or new Pets.

Originally, one HAD to earn Pet Cards to obtain new Pets.  Now, there is usually one special sale that offers a premium Pet every month.  The Premium Pets are expensive but they deliver benefits and boost the capacity of a new player or low level player significantly in terms of the entire Pet and Guest structure of the game.

For example, the Labrador earned by collecting Lab Cards begins with 500 Stamina and 100 Sales with a maximum Level of 20.  The Premium Labs in the form of the Chocolate Lab and the Black Labrador actually have the same initial stats but can increase to Level 25.

With respect to Cats, on the other hand, the differences are significant.  A Cat earned by collecting Cat Cards begins with 250 Stamina and 150 Sales with a maximum Level of 20.  The Premium Cats, on the other hand, in the form of the Maple and Misty Cats begin with 250 Stamina and 150 Sales with a maximum Level of 25.

An ordinary Turtle begins with 750 Stamina and 70 Sales with a maximum Level of 20.  The Red  Turtle, in comparison, begins with the same Stamina of 750 but has initial sales of 150, similar to any Cat.  That makes the Red Turtle possibly the most powerful Premium Pet in the game.  Furthermore, the maximum Level for a Red Turtle is 25 and any Turtle can service both land and water Guests.  For any new player who wants to enter the 'Pet Game' with a definite advantage, I would recommend snapping up a Red Turtle whenever one is offered in a special sale.

There are no Premium versions of the Hedgehog or Hippo as of October 2017 but it may be a future addition to this game.  At present, the initial stats of these Wilderness Pets are:

Hedgehog: Initial Stamina of 200 and Sales of 160.  This makes the Hedgehog low in Stamina but higher initially than any Cat in Sales.  The Hedgehog does have a maximum Limit of 20.

Hippo: Initial Stamina of 600 and Sales of 75.  This makes the Hippo higher in Stamina initially than most Pets apart from Turtles but very low in Sales.  Only the Turtle is lower.

Preparing for your Guest Group Orders:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Family Farm Seaside now involves so many different tasks and activities as well as the time-restricted Quests that sometimes players may find they do not have sufficient OP or Power to complete all of them.

Time-restricted activities include not only the Quests that are launched every other Friday but the Cooking Stand Contests.  Other activities or tasks include the Boat Orders, the Coffee House tasks and the Guest Groups you invite to your Farm.

We have logged actual Orders from various Guest Groups to give players an idea of the Dishes or items they may need when they invite a specific Group.  It may be helpful for players to prepare some of the cooked Dishes on days when they are not required to complete time-restricted Quest tasks or refill their Cooking Stands.  It is far easier to complete Orders successfully when you know what you will need in advance, especially as you unlock the 3 Star Groups and are required to give a number of Island items to them.  Even 2 Star Guest Groups can include a few Orders for Island products.  Again, knowing in advance what your Guests tend to like will allow you to prepare by shipping Island Items that may be requested to your Seaside Farm before you initiate the Visit.

Hospitality Strategies or How to Treat your Guests!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I came rather late to this myself, having had a difficult year last year with medical operations and such.   It is only recently that I have begun to invite Guest Groups at different Star Levels on a daily basis and even to invite 3 Star Groups to my Farm.

Although there are problems with the system, it actually does make some sense.  Your ability to unlock new Levels/Areas is based on your performance in the previous area of the Map.  There are a couple of reasons to invite Guests to your Farm and one of them is the effect that bargaining with specific Guests will have on your Pets.  Your Pets must have a minimum set amount of Stamina to undertake a bargaining session with any specific Guest.  You may find that all the Guests who arrive in a Group require the same amount of Stamina for their bargaining sessions but often there will be one Guest (usually new at that Level) who requires more than the others.   The game basically will send you a warning message if you attempt to invite a Group of Guests that it considers too difficult for you.  Should you then back off and choose an easier Group?  I usually do not allow this message to discourage me BUT in such a case, there are some special actions you can take to minimise the chance of failure.

First of all, there is the Auto-Bargain option by which your Pets simply go to Guests randomly.  If all of the Guests in the Group require the same amount of Stamina for their bargaining sessions and all of your Pets are roughly at the same Level in terms of total Stamina and Sales Ability, you can keep the Auto-Bargain option active.  If, however, you find that one of your Guests requires more Stamina for his/her Bargain Sessions, you may wish to turn off the Auto-Bargain option temporarily.  Now you have a choice to make.  Do you want to service all of your Guests successfully or do you only wish to increase a Pet's Levels?

An example may be helpful here.  When you unlock Farm Co-op 3 Star, you find the first Guest who requires 300 Stamina for each Bargaining Session.  His name is Bill and he comes to your Farm on horseback.  A very dominant figure indeed and he has a 'Hard' rating in terms of Difficulty Level.   So what do you do with this man?  I initially set my lowest level Cat to deal with him.  In one fell swoop, Bill demanded my Pet's total stamina...  I fed the Cat as soon as I could get to him, then set him to work again.  By the end of the visit, I was able to increase my Cat's Level twice.  I was not able, however, to obtain all the Orders at that point and the ultimate result was less than perfect in terms of the total number of Orders taken and filled.  My purpose, however, which was to increase my new Cat's Level quickly, was achieved.  The only problem really is the infrequency of the 3 Star Passports.  I had to wait almost a week to obtain another one.

If your own Pets cannot really deal with a Guest who takes 300 Stamina with every bargaining session, first turn off Auto-Bargain.  Then set the Pet with the highest total Stamina to deal with the Guest, like Bill, who requires 300 Stamina for each Order to be successfully transmitted to your List. What often helps, however, in this case, is to find a powerful Buddy Pet to borrow, but you are best served if you turn off the Auto-Bargain to be able to set the Buddy Pet to Bill.

The only problem with any Buddy Pet is that they cannot be fed during the course of the visit.  Again, turning off Auto-Bargain will allow you to monitor all the Pets and set them individually to the Guests whom they best match in terms of Stamina.

Purpose of Guest Visits
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Yes, you sell items from your Farm and earn Coins for every successful Guest Order filled but this is not really the primary purpose of these Visits in terms of advancing the Mootopia System. Ultimately, the goal is to unlock all areas and levels on the Mootopia Map.   The requirements for unlocking each new Level in an area is an indication of your own Pets' achievements.

Early requirements include that of having a certain number of Turtles... first one Turtle, then two Turtles, but later, the requirements will change to ask that you have 4 Pets of a specific Level.  This makes sense really because the level of the Pet is a sort of measurement of its total Stamina and Sales Ability.  There may be some variations from Pet to Pet in the amount of Stamina increase and Sales increase that you can earn whenever you level up the Pet but generally speaking, a Level 12 Pet will be competent to deal with certain Guests while a Level 14 Pet should be competent to deal with more difficult Guests.  The requirement of having earned a specific total of Coins from the previous level is another gauge of the general ability of your Pets to deal with Guests at the next level.

Stove House Recipes
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The Stove House is required for a number of Pet House options, including upgrades.  You cannot use RC to buy the Stove House dishes needed but must cook them if you do not have them in your Barn.

For example, you will not be able to obtain and use a Turtle if you have not upgraded your Pet House to Level 2.  You need a total of 15 Macaroni and Cheese as one of the requirements for this upgrade.

List of Pets
xxxxxxxxxx

In the Pet School tab, you can access a menu that will show you all the different sorts of Pets you can have.  To obtain the Pet Cards that earn a given Pet, with the exception of the Turtle Cards given by completing the initial Quest sequence that introduces the entire system, you must complete Guest Orders.  Every different Guest gives different rewards randomly.  You can see the Rewards each Guest CAN give by accessing the Menu in the Guest House.

Obtaining New Pets
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The Animal Cards you earn randomly from completing Guest Orders will allow you to obtain a new pet as follows:

Labrador (your 2nd): 300 Labrador Cards required
Cat: 300 Cat Cards required
Turtle: 300 Turtle Cards required
Bear: 100 Bear Cards required

Each type of Pet has its own special abilities.  For example, the Cat has good sales ability with a base of 150.  When used, it has a chance to improve Selling Ability by 5%, to obtain 20% extra coins from sales, 10% extra Coins from Chests and reduced Stamina use of 2%.

Fitting Room
xxxxxxxxxxxx

You can give certain accessories to your Pet by purchasing them either for a limited time period or permanently using TC, the new currency.  The accessories qt present are different types of hats and different bags.  They appear to have no virtue apart from their appearance.

Keeping your Pet Fit and Happy
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Your Pet will operate best if his/her Stamina is at its Maximum, mainly because you will run less chance of it reaching zero Stamina while engaged in tasks such at long-term Guest Visits.   Pets need Food and/or Rest.  Sending your Pet home after all its chores are completed allows it to recover its energy.  Feeding it regularly while it is outside the Pet House working to keep it at Maximum Stamina allows him or her to fill orders better as well as keeping the Pet happy while it opens Chests.

You can buy 10 Super Feed at any itme for 1 RC.  You can trade any Cooked Dishes for Feed as well.  Every Cooked Dish has a different trade value in the same way as it does when you need Bait for Fishing.

Note that it is the tasks that your Pet is set to complete that give XP and use energy.  You can send your Pet back to the House or feed him/her to restore Stamina.  When XP has accrued to the point of being to upgrade the Pet, you can do so by tapping the 'i' in the Pet House below the Pet icon and then choosing to upgrade.  You will be given a choice of improvements, usually an increase in stamina or sales ability but at certain levels, a random new ability.

Buddy Pets
xxxxxxxxxxx

You can borrow a Buddy Pet or feed one. If the Buddy is at Level 3 or higher, you can do both, feeding the Pet first on the Buddy's Farm and then borrowing it  If the Buddy is only at Level 1 or 2,  you will be able only to borrow the Pet.

When borrowed, the Pet will stay on your Farm until its Stamina reaches zero or reset before returning home.  You can send it home earlier if you have no tasks for it.

With a Buddy's Pet on your Farm, two Chests will appear for EACH Pet.

Both you and your Buddy will receive a Message from Felicia about the Buddy Pet.  If a Buddy borrows your Pet, you will receive 1000 Coins and 5 Green Mystrons with the Message.  If you borrowed a Buddy's Pet, you simply receive a message when it goes home.

The Effect of Borrowing a Buddy Pet
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

IMPORTANT:  Many players are afraid that, should they borrow a Buddy's Pet, it will not be avaiable to its owner to use.  This is NOT the case.  You can borrow a Buddy's Pet and your Buddy still will be able to use the Pet.  (Rather like a doppelganger!  The Owner still will see the Pet on the farm and be able to set it to work.)  MOREOVER, more than one Buddy can borrow the SAME Pet during the SAME time period.  Nothing is lost... and the Owner will receive a Reward from Felicia when the Pet is sent home.

Pet House Menu
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The Pet House Menu includes a number of different screens and options.  First of all, you will see two tabs at the top of the screen when you first open the Menu: Pet House and Pet School.

Paint Brush Icon
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

You will see a Paint Brush to the left of the screen as well.  This is a Menu that allows you to change the appearance of your Pet House.  Note that many of the time-restricted Quests give a Reward in the form of a Pet House accessory such as the skin or hair when you complete Part 8 (the end of the first half of the 16 part traditional quest sequence).  You need to go to the Gift Box and 'Use' the Reward item in order to make it available in the Pet House.

Pet House Tab
xxxxxxxxxxxx

The Pet House tab will open automatically.  You will see two tabs on the left side of the screen.  The first is displayed by default, showing you windows that display your active Pets as well as any Buddy Pet on your Farm.  The number of Pets displayed here is based on the level of your Pet House.  I have added a section on upgrading the Pet House Level below.

There are two ways to reach the Pet House upgrade Menu, however.  One is by tapping on the Level display at the top left corner of the screen.  The other is by tapping on a Pet Window that has not beem unlocked yet.  Doing so will give you the requirements for unlocking a new active Pet slot.
Note that active Pets are quite different from the total number of Pets that you own.

The Pets that you own will be displayed when you tap on the lower tab to the left of the screen.  It has the icon of a pawprint.    In this screen, you will be able to level up active Pets as well as obtaining new Pets through the use of Pet Cards, provided that you have sufficient slots unlocked for ownership.  A total of 10 Pets can be owned by a farmer at this point although the maximum allowed to be active still remains 4.   A Buddy Pet you have borrowed makes the temporary maximum 5.  If you do not upgrade your Pet House at all,  you can own a maximum of 4 Pets.  Each additional slot has its own requirement.

The other component of the pawprint menu is the ability to add collars or other items of apparel and accessories to your Pets.  You will see the icon that opens this Menu on the right side of the screen in the form of a dressing room.  Tap on this to be taken to the Pet Fitting Room Memu.

The Pet Fitting Room Menu has three tabs on the left: Headgear, Pouches/Belts and Collars/Bow Ties.  Tapping on one of these will show you all that are available and/or those you can rent or purchase.

I will deal with this in a separate section.  Pet House upgrades and the requirements for unlocking additional slots are shown below.

A new statistic is the number of times your Pet has been borrowed by a Buddy.  This is linked to a Farm Achievement.

The second tab at the top of the screen is for the Pet School.  Essentially, this shows you all of the Pets that can be redeemed currently using Pet Cards.  Tapping on the icon of any Pet on a stand below the main section of the screen will show you how many Cards you currently have for that Pet as well as statistics for the Pet at Level 1.  The 'Use Cards' button will allow you to add any Cards you have not yet used as well as being able to obtain the Pet in question if you have the total number of Cards that are required for that Pet.

Originally, we had only the Labrador, the Turtle, the Cat and the Bear.  Now there are the premium Pets in the form of a Black Labrador, a Chocolate Labrador, a Maple Cat and a Red Turtle added as special sales items.   If you do not have any of these and want to buy them, the game appears to offer them periodically now.  You usually can find one on offer near the end of any Calendar month.
Upgraded Pet Houses allow you to have more Active Pets but the limit of ACTIVE Pets always is 4. Furthermore, if you wish to decorate your Pet House, you will need specific upgrades in the same way as you need an upgraded Boat House to be able to add parts to your Boat.

Pet House Upgrades
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I apologise for not making this section clear from the start, but the whole business is rather confusing.  Basically, there are two different determinations where Pets are concerned.  The first is the upgrade level of the Pet House itself.  This determines how many Pets you can have out on your farm at any point in time as well as the sorts of accessories you can use to change the appearance of the Pet House.  These are the Pet House upgrades.

For example,  at Level 1, you can have only a total of 1 Pet of your own on your Farm at any given time according to a player who never upgraded the Pet House at all.  At Level 2, you only can have a total of 3 Pets on your Farm at any given time.  At Level 3, you can have 4 Pets.   Note that, at this point in time, 4 is the maximum you can have out on the farm.   Buddy Pets are not counted in these totals.

Unlocking additional Slots allows you to OWN more Pets even if you cannot place them all on the farm at the same time.

Upgrading Pet House
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

There is some problem with requirements in terms of items.  Now players who never upgraded their Pet House sometimes are being given the requirements that formerly were attributed to the Level 3 upgrade.  This is a glitch.  Reload your game and you should find the correct set of requirements.

In any case, at Level 1, you can have only 1 Active Pet.  At Level 2, you can have 2 Active Pets. Note that you will have 4 Slots for OWNING Pets even without upgrading the Pet House.

At Level 2, you can change the Ears of the Pet House.  At Level 3, you can change the Hair.

To upgrade your Pet House to Level 2, you need the following:

Reach Level 16
Have 35 Peacock Feathers .(Skip for 19 TC each)
15 Macaroni and Cheese (No option to skip)
35 Steak Burgers (Skip for 77 TC each)

Level 2 allows you to have a total of 2 Active Pets on your farm.

To upgrade your Pet House to Level 3, you need the following:

Reach Level 25
80 Alpaca Hair (Skip for 18 TC each)
60 Strawberry Candy (no option to skip)
25 Champagne Punch (Stove House, no option to skip)

Level 3 allows you to have a total of 3 Active Pets on your farm.

To upgrade your Pet House to Level 4:

Reach Level 40
12 Flower Tables (This is an Island Product) (350 TC each to skip)
80 Cranberry Bread (This is an Island Product) (56 TC each to skip)
80 Venison Steaks

You can pay RC to skip any of these Requirements.  Note that some players who never upgraded their Pet House now are being given this set of requirements to upgrade to Level 2.  This is a glitch.  Close and reload to obtain the correct Menu for upgrading.

Switching Active Pets
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Whether your have only four slots for Pets or the Maximum of 10 Slots and Pets in all of them, you only will be able to have four ACTIVE Pets plus a Buddy Pet at any point in time.

To switch your Active Pets, you need first to open the Pet House Menu.  By default, you will find that the first Tab with the Menu that displays all your active Pets will be shown.  Look for the arrows in the upper right corner of any Pet icon window.  There will be two arrows in a circle, one pointing up and the other pointing down.  Tap on that to be given the option to switch that active Pet with one of your inactive Pets.  To switch an active Pet, THAT Pet must be inside the Pet House.  Call it home if it is out and about and you then should be able to use the option to switch it with one of your inactive Pets.  When you tap on the Arrows, you will see a menu that shows all your inactive Pets.  Choose the one you want and it will take the place of the one that formerly was active.

Note about Active Pets and Buddies:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The only Pets with whom your Buddies will be able to interact are the ACTIVE Pets, so if you want a Buddy to be able to feed or borrow a specific Pet, it must be one of the Active 4 Pets displayed in the Pet House.

In this context, although the Turtle is slow and has a lower default Bargaining ability than other Pets, it is the only Pet that can reach Guests who stay in the Water.  You need Turtles for the Peaceful Bay Guest Groups in particular and if you invite the 2 Star or 3 Star Peaceful Bay Guest Groups, it is far better to have three Turtles than two.  With a single Turtle, you may find that your Guests depart angry without making all their Orders.  Many players, especially those who have not worked long on the Pet System need to be able to borrow a Buddy's Turtle in order to fill all Peaceful Bay Orders.  If you have Buddies in this situation, it is a nice courtesy to put a Turtle in your Active Pets display when you are not involved in a specific Guest Group Visit where you do not want to use your Turtles.

Another Point about the Active Pet line-up is the ability of your Buddies to leave Pet Food for your Pets.  Remember that they only can interact with the Active Pets, so if there is a specific Pet that really needs food, put that one in the Active line-up.

Which Buddy Pet Should You Feed?
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Unless your Buddy has asked for something different, it makes sense always to feed the Active Pet that is at the lowest level currently, as that Pet will require Pet Food more often than the others.  The ability to feed a Buddy's Pets is one of the most important activities you can perform for a Buddy. All the other activities actually do more in terms of increasing Buddy Levels than performing an action that really matters in the game.  The real difference between the action of feeding a Buddy Pet and the other activities such as fertilisation of Crops, watering of Trees, eating at a Cooking Stand is that ONLY YOU OR YOUR BUDDY CAN FEED YOUR PET!  Neighbours cannot perform this act of kindness.

Inactive Pet Stamina Level
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

When a Pet is inactive, it is not 'resting' to regain any lost Stamina.  It will go into a sort of void where it remains at the same Stamina total as it had when it was made inactive.  This makes the inactive Status quite different from the status of an Active Pet who simply is resting inside the Pet House.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Warning about Resting Pets
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Perhaps I am more absentminded than most lately but although sending your Pets home to rest inside the Pet House is an inexpensive alternative to Pet Food and will restore all Stamina to them in time, remember always to send them outside when you invite the next Group of Guests.  I stupidly wasted a 2 Star Passport by inviting my Guests and then forgetting to send the Pets out of the Pet House to greet and bargain with them!    '

Stamina or Sales?
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

For most Pet upgrades, you will have a choice between an increase in total stamina or increase in sales bargaining ability.  It makes sense to increase Stamina first, especially if you are dealing with a Pet who has low Stamina and higher Sales than others.  For example, the Cat begins with a higher sales bargaining ability than a Dog but with lower total Stamina.  Best to increase Stamina when you upgrade any Cat at the start.  Once total Stamina is sufficient to allow you to leave the game while Guest Visits are active without worry that your Pet will collapse before all Orders are taken, you can focus more on sales but many of the Pets you obtain with the exception of the Turtles really NEED Stamina increases more than Sales ability increases ab initio.
Pet House Accessories or Parts
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

To access the Pet House Decorations or Accessories Menu, tap on the Colourful Paintbrush on the left side of the general Pet House menu.

There are three different types of Accessory:

Pet House Base: You do not need any sort of upgrade to change the appearance of the Base.  In the last week of October, you can find a new Halloween Pet House Base for sale in the Activity Tokens section of the Market.

Pet House Ears:  These are unlocked when you have upgraded your Pet House to Level 2.  Pet House Ears so far have been featured as Rewards for completing time-restricted Missions.  The current Halloween Mission gives Bat Pet House Ears for completing the first half of the Mission.

Pet House Hair.  This is unlocked when you have upgraded your Pet House to Level 3.  Currently, Halloween Pet House Hair is being sold in the Activity Token section of the Market.

Pet Accessories
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Tap the Paw icon on the left side of the Pet House general menu to access the Apparel your Pet has earned or purchases you have made.

Under the Apparel category, in the last week of October, if you completed the time-restricted Collections Green Board Mission that was released a fortnight ago, you should find the  Pet Leaf Hat.  This hat can be worn by all pets, irrespective of species or gender.

To the left of the Pet Leaf Hat, if you own it, is an icon that depicts a fitting room.  Tap on that to access the regular Fitting Room where items of apparel are offered for sale or for rent.

When you enter the Fitting Room, you will see three tabs on the left side.  The top is for Hats, the middle for Belts and the bottom one for Pet Equipment made in the Factory.

As the Hat tab is the top one, it will be displayed automatically and you will see all the hats that are available for your Pet.    If you tap on one, the little Pet window will display your Pet in the hat in question.  Below the window are the prices to rent the Hat for a week, for a month or the price for purchase of the hat.

The Pet System obviously is going to be central to Seaside.  From time to time,  special Seasonal Hats and Belts are included in DIY sales offers at the top right of your screen.  Hats are more expensive than belts.  All are gender-specific so if you wish to outfit a current pet, make certain you pay attention to the gender allocated to the item you want to buy.

Note here that Pet Apparel gives no improvement in any aspect of Pet behaviour or Stamina.  It is only the Pet Equipment, forged in the Factory, that affects Pet statistics.

Pet Equipment
xxxxxxcxxxxx

Pet equipment is specific to the type of Pet.  There are Blue Collars for Male Dogs, Pink Collars for Female Dogs, Blue Bandanas for Male Turtles, Pink Bandanas for Female Turtles, Blue Bows for Male Cats and Pink Bows for Female Cats and so on.  There are three different colour variations of each type that depend on the Level of Pet that to which they can be equipped.  The Levels for the Collars are Level 1, Level 10 and Level 20.  You make all Equipment in the Factory.

You can forge Equipment without paying TC for the extra special Pet Ability.  If you pay TC for the third component, your Equipment usually will have a special effect ONLY IN A SPECIFIC AREA OF MOOTOPIA.  The exception to this is the ability to 'find' more Diamond Chests on your farm or the ability to find more Coins in Chests.  The extra boost in Stamina and Sales will operate EVERYWHERE but the special 'ability' where Guests are concerned is area-specific.

The Factory and Pet Equipment
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The Factory is a fairly new building and Pet Equipment that alters Pet Statistics is forged in the Factory.  Initially, the Red Pet Equip Scrolls were not included in the Rewards given by Guests but now are.  You need these Scrolls to forge Pet Collars and scarves and so on.  You can purchase them globally, however in the E-Mart now if you do not wish to earn them yourself.

Please note here that only the low level Red Pet Equip Scrolls are given by guests.  Where the higher level Yellow Pet Equip Scrolls are concerned, these as well as the Pet Books for Level 10 and Level 20 forging are earned in the Coffee House.  Level 1 Pet Books are found randomly in the Coin section of the Mystery Shops Market in the same menu that randomly offers tools for the Botanic Garden and other sundries.

Details in previous section.

Items you Need
xxxxxxxxxxxxx

With new updates to the game, you now can purchase rare items in many cases from other players through the Flea Market.  There are some items, however, that you must earn in order to upgrade your Pet House and in order to unlock new areas on the Map.

These items are:

Pink Paint:  You will receive this when you fill orders from invited Guests.  If you look at the items required for upgrades, you will see a significant amount of Pink Paint will be needed.

Telescopes:  You will receive these randomly from Chests that your Pets dig up and you open.  You will need a significant number of these to unlock new Groups of Guests.  Note that every group of Temporary Guests requires Telescopes as well so the need never decreases really!

Important Note
xxxxxxxxxxxxx

As previously stated, you cannot buy Telescopes or Pink Paint.  The game has expanded significantly since I first wrote this post.  There is an entire new Map in Mootopia in the form of the Wilderness Map.  At the same time, the total number of Chests that can appear has been reduced from 60 to 40.  If you want all upgrades and all guest groups, you must be conscious of the incredible amounts of Pink Paint and Telescopes required.

The 11th Slot in the Pet House requires, for example, 600 Pink Paint to unlock.  After obtaining 20 of the Gold Star Baked Banana Splits required

N.B.  A chest will appear randomly on ANY two Paths that are placed on your Farm whether or not they are connected to the Pet House.  If not connected, you will be forced to move ithe Path with the Chest to connect it before your Pet can go into action.  Once connected, tap on the Exclamation Point and the Pet will begin to dig.  You have to go through this procedure eight times to complete this task.  The first timer is 2 minutes.

Rewards: 500 Coins, 20 XP

The only pet you can have at this point is a Labrador puppy.  The Chests will appear in random places... move them next to a path so the puppy can begin to dig.  When it opens, collect the reward.  I got 2 OP and 90 Coins in the first one.  The next two Chests will appear.  Tap on the Exclamation Point above a Chest to activate your Puppy again. There is another timer.  When the Chest opens, collect the Reward.  Do this eight times.

Warning:  As I stated, a Chest can appear on ANY Path square.  On my farm, I did not realise there were two Chests always intially because one was buried on a path square behind dense Trees.  Try to make certain that all Paths are connected to your Pet House or stored now by using the new Storage option in the Tool bar that is designed specifically for Paths and Pond Water.   Use the new Search Tool in the Path/Pond Tool Menu to locate any hidden Paths and bring them onto the Path area that is connected to your Pet House and Guest Centre.

Pet House

Felicia:  The more pets you have on your farm, the more chests you can find!

My First Pet III

Felicia:  I think we played with our pet too much.  They look a bit tired.  We can let them rest in the pet house and serve some healthym, organic pet food.

Trade 26 Pet Food

To Trade Pet Food, you have to trade your own Cooked Dishes in the same way that Cooked Dishes make Bait.  Each is worth a different amount.

Feed 26 Pet Food

You can purchase Pet Food for 1 RC or trade Cooked Dishes for it.  Feeding your Pet, by the way, is the method by which you earn the points needed to raise its Level.

Reward: 500 Coins, 20 XP, 1 Guest Centre

Felicia:  Our pet looks so happy after eating.  When pets have no stamina, they need rest and food!

My First Pet IV
xxxxxxxxxxxxx

People from around the world heard about our new pet house and they would love to pay a visit!  Let's welcome the guests!

Have a Guest Centre on your Farm
You will find the Guest Centre in your Giftbox.  It is very large and takes a lot of space.

Invite the group of guests to the farm
Guests arrive in a balloon.  You then have to set your pet to one of them to learn the Order.  It is another timer activity so involves waiting. When the timer reaches zero, you will see the Order and be able to fill it.

Complete 3 Guest Orders

This is a little tricky until you are familiar with the system.  An icon has to appear above the Guest's head before your pet can approach to find out what the order is.  It takes about 3 minutes for the communication to be completed.  You then can sell the item to the Guest.  Each of the first two Guests will have two orders... each is communicated separately and takes 3 minutes.  When completed, you will receive a score based on the time it took to complete ALL Orders, the mood of all Guests after completion and if Mood and Timing are good, you may receive a Bonus.

On one farm, the sales were 1 Cherry twice, and Buffalo Milk Cheese twice... score for the Cherry sales: 100% 40 Coins, for the Buffalo Milk Cheese sales 100%, x78 Coins.  Highest Score given as 2622 which included  a Bonus of 778.  The timer showed 21:03 at the end.

Rewards: 500 Coins, 20 XP

Felicia:  This will be a good business.  When the new area in the Guest Centre opens, we will have all kinds of new guests!

To go from Level 1 to Level 2 shows one needs 60 points in total

Reward: 500 Coins, 290 Turtle Cards

Other aspects of new Pet System
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Buddies can feed your Pet and even borrow your Pet for a day.   Spend 1 Red Mystron, restores 5 Pet Stamina and gain 8 XP.  The way to earn the greatest benefit is by first feeding a Buddy's Pet and THEN borrowing it.  You only can borrow from one Buddy per day.  Your Buddy must be at Level 3 or higher if you wish to feed it.

Increasing your Pet's Abilities
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Essentially, the way to increase your Pet's Level is by putting it to work and then feeding it or sending it home to rest.  The more tasks it completes,  the more Points it will earn.  As you reach each required total, you can choose between an increase in maximum Stamina or Sales Ability.  Each type of Pet has different requirements and stats.  Go to the Pet House, find the Pet and tap on the little 'i' that denotes 'information' to see the requirements for each Level.

Level Up Pets
xxxxxxxxxxxx

I logged these statistics when the Pet House was a new option.  There are new Pets like the Black Lab and Maple Cat, as well as the 'advanced' Pet in the form of the Bear...  I have no intention of logging every statistic for every Pet at this point, so please simply use the following as a general guide to the effects of increasing a Pet's Level.

Labrador
xxxxxxxx

To Level up your initial Pet, the Male Labrador, requirements are as follows:

When you have 60/60, you can level up your pet to Level 2 and choose between +90 Max Stamina or Increase Pet's Selling Ability by 6.

When you have 170/170, you can level up again to Level 3.

When you have 358/358, you can increase your Pet's Level to Level 4.   At each new Level, you can choose a higher maximum Stamina or higher selling ability.

To increase your Pet's Level from 4 to Level 5, you need 638 points.
636/636:  Once again, you can choose between Maximum Stamina and increasing Sales Ability.  At this level, choose +38 increase in maximum Stamina or +6 in Sales Ability.

To increase your Pet's Level from 10 to 11:

Increase Maximum Stamina by 90 or sales ability by 6.

You need a total of 6085 points
Increase Maximum Stamina by 90 or sales ability by 6.

To increase your Pet's Level from 12 to 13,
You need a total of  7481 Points
Increase Maximum Stamina by 90 or sales ability by 6.

Turtle Upgrades
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Your Second Pet will be a Turtle.  The game is designed to give you 290 of the 300 Turtle Cards you will need to trade for a Turtle in one of the Pet tutorial Quests.  When you complete Orders for the Farm Co-op Mootopia Guests a few times, you will have sufficient Turtle Cards to redeem for the Turtle.  You cannot choose Male or Female.  The game randomly will assign the gender to your Pet. The Turtle can travel along Water Paths to interact with Guests that stay in the Water when they visit but a Turtle can travel along the ordinary Paths as well.  The Turtle has high initial Stamina but low sales ability and furthermore, as one would guess, moves VERY slowly.   You ultimately will find that you need 3 Turtles to take Orders from some of the Guest Groups that include three water-loving individuals, but you can borrow a third Turtle from a Buddy if you do not own three.  Having 2 Turtles, however is a requirement for unlocking an area of Mootopia and having 3 is a requirement for another area I believe.

Initial upgrade from Level 1 to Level 2:
You need a total of 60 Points.
Increase Maximum Stamina by 130 or Sales Ability by 4 Points

To increase Turtle from Level 2 to Level 3:
You need a total of 170 Points
Increase Maximum Stamina by 130 or Sales Ability by 4 Points.

To increase Turtle from Level 3 to Level 4:
You need a total of 358 Points
Increase Maximum Stamina by 130 or Sales Ability by 4.

To increase Turtle from Level 4 to Level 5:
You need a total of 636 Points.
Increase Maximum Stamina by 130 or Sales Ability by 4.

To increase Turtle from Level 5 to Level 6:
You need a total of 1018 Points.
Increase Maximum Stamina by 130 or Selling Ability by 4.

To increase Turtle from Level 6 to Level 7:
You need a total of 1515 points.
Increase maximum Stamina by 130 or Selling Ability by 4.

To increase Turtle from Level 7 to Level 8
You need a total of 2138 Points
Increase Maximum Stamina by 130 or Selling Ability by 4

To increase Turtle from Level 8 to Level 9
You need a total of 2897 Points
Increase Maximum Stamina by 130 or Selling Ability by 4.

To increase your Turtle form Level 9 to Level 10,
You need a total of 3802 Points
You will be able to choose between a random new ability or increasing Selling Ability by 4.

Filling Orders
xxxxxxxxxxxx

To be able to fill Orders, you first have to invite Guests to visit from one of the four areas of Mootopia.  When you access your Guest House, you should see a Map of Mootopia.  Only the first area will be unlocked initially but it does not take long to unlock all four areas.  The requirements are given in the Mootopia section below.

Invite a group of Guests by choosing the specific area on the Map that is their domicile.  Some guest overlap from area to area but there are Guests that are specific to a single area, such as Mimi who will not use the land but choose instead to float down your waterways.  She is specific to the Peaceful Bay area.  I have listed the Guests and the Rewards they give randomly when you fill their orders.

Before you invite Guests, it often is a good idea to borrow an extra Pet from a Buddy.  Make certain that the Stamina of your own Pets is full, at its maximum and then invite the Guests.  Use the Auto-Bargain option located in the Tool Menu to enable the Pets to greet the Guests and take their Orders automatically.

When a Guest actually makes an Order, you will find it in the Guest House Menu.  If you have the item in your Barn, you will be able to sell it immediately.  If not, you can make it or obtain it, then sell it before the Guest leaves.  When any Guest has made all his/her Orders and you have filled them, he/she will give you a Reward Box.  When all Orders from all Guests have been completed and you have collected all Orders, they will leave.

The number of Passports you have on any given day will determine the number of Groups of Guests that you can invite.  As of 1 October, you will receive double the usual number of Passports for a few days.

New Pets are earned through Guest Rewards.  Every Guest has specific Pet Cards that he/she can give randomly in the Rewards for completing Orders.

Mootopia
xxxxxxxx

If you have played the original computer version of Family Farm, you will be familiar with this concept.  Within the Pet System, there is another 'kingdom' with areas that have to be unlocked.  New Guest characters are unlocked to visit when you open a new area of Mootopia, although their ability to visit your farm is dependent always on the number of Paths and sometimes Water Paths currently on your Farm.

The initial area has only two possible visitors to your farm in the form of the Guest Characters of John and Tom.  Each have different preferences.  The Rewards they are able to give are Turtle Cards, Pink Paint for Pet House slot upgrades and TC currency.

Within the Mootopia Map and the four Quarters are actually three different Levels for each, indicated by Stars.  Thus, the first four areas/Guest Lists you can unlock are the 1 Star areas and Guests, then the 2 Star areas and Guests and finally the 3 Star areas and Guests.

1 Star Mootopia Requirements:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

To unlock the second area of Mootopia, you will need:

Reach Level 16
Earn 150 Coins
Have 2 Telescopes  (Telescopes can be found randomly in Chests opened by Pets)

There are a total of four quarters to Mootopia.  The initial one displays a horse and is the Farm Co-op.  The second one displays a scooter when unlocked and is the Schoolhouse.  To unlock the third, you will need the following:

Reach Level 18
Earn 900 Coins
Have a Turtle as a Pet
5 Telescopes (Telescopes are found randomly in Chests on the Paths)

The third area is Peaceful Bay... when those guests visit, they will use your Water Paths as a sort of Water Park.  Make certain that you have at least one Water Path connected to your Main Pet/Guest complex if you invite the Peaceful Bay Guests and have a Turtle to fill their orders.

To unlock the fourth and final area of Mootopia, known as Metropolis, you need the following:

Reach Level 21
Earn 3000 Coins
Highest Score of 4000
8 Telescopes

The four areas of Mootopia have names as follows:  The Farm Co-op, Schoolhouse, Peaceful Bay and finally, Metropolis.  Note that, when a requirement is to earn a specific total of coins or have a specific Highest Score, it MUST BE FROM THE PREVIOUS AREA UNLOCKED.  In other words, in order to progress, you will have to invite specific groups of Guests.  Once all 3 Star Areas are unlocked, you can do as you please.  Actually, if you do not care if you unlock new areas or not, you ca invite whichever group suits you best, but you will not satisfy requirements to unlock higher levels of Mootopia that way.

Guest Invitations
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Unlocking an area of Mootopia does not mean that you can invite its Guests necessarily.  There is a specific Path total requirement for each Group of Guests.  At 1 Star, inviting Guests from Peaceful Bay and Metropolis require a specific number of Water Paths on your Farm as well as ordinary Paths..  The other two Groups of Guests have only a regular Path total requirement.

There are specific Path requirements for 2 Star and 3 Star Mootopia areas as well.

Note here that Path Requirements are not the same as the requirements for unlocking any area of Mootopia.  Once an area is unlocked, it remains unlocked but if you remove Paths that are part of a Guest Group Requirement, you will not be able to invite them, even if you met the requirements previously.

Path Requirements
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

You only will see these requirements before you invite your Guests on any given day.

For 1 Star Guest Visits:

Farm Co-op Path Requirements:  10 Regular Paths
Schoolhouse Path Requirements: 15 Regular Paths
Peaceful Bay Requirements:  15 Regular Paths, 9 Water Paths
Metropolis Requirements:  25 Regular Paths, 9 Water Paths

This is the significance of the prompt that you may receive if you try to store too many regular or Water Paths...  You may see a notice to the effect that if you keep storing paths, your Guests will leave.  In actual fact, you will not be able to invite them in the first place if you do not have the required minimum number of Paths on your farm.

Note that these are only the Level 1 Mootopia Path Requirements.

For 3 Star Guest Visits:

Farm Co-Op Path Requirements, Level 2: 35 Paths, 9 Water Tiles
Schoolhouse Path Requirements, Level 2:  35 Paths, 10 Water Tiles
Peaceful Bay Path Requirements, Level 2: 35 Paths, 15 Water Paths
Metropolis Path Requirements, Level 2: 35 Paths, 15 Water Paths

For 3 Star Guests:

Farm Co-Op Path Requirements, Level 3: 50 Paths, 10 Water Paths

Guest Rewards:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Each Guest has a specific list of Rewards that can be given randomly when you fill all of that Guest's orders.

Note that there are upgraded Levels to every Mootopia area.  Once you have unlocked all four of the 1 Star areas, you can begin to unlock the 2 Star areas and when all have been unlocked, to begin to unlock the 3 Star areas of Mootopia.

I have added a section to this post that lists the Guests with all the Rewards that each can give when their Orders are filled.

Stamina Costs
xxxxxxxxxxxxx

It takes Stamina to bargain with Guests from every area of Mootopia and the cost will vary depending on the individual Guests from any Group.  You may have one Guest with a lower Bargaining Cost than the others if that Guest first was encountered at another area of the Map.  For example, if you invite the 1 Star Guest Group from Metropolis, you will find that Mia, who appears first in the 1 Star Peaceful Bay Group has a Cost of only 60 where the other three have a cost of 80.  This is the first area where the other three Guests appear.

For example:

Mootopia, 1 Star Metropolis: Cost is 80 Stamina for most guests except Mia who is only 60
Mootopia, 2 Star Farm Co-op: Cost is 150 Stamina for most guests
Mootopia 3 Star Farm Co-op: Cost is 300 Stamina for most guests

In other words, the above 'costs' are nothing more than a generalisation.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Characters in Guest Groups
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I initially thought that Characters would be specific to one area of the Map, even if they might come with different Passports... this is not the case at all.  You may find the same Characters appearing in a Peaceful Bay Guest Visit as appear in a Metropolis Guest Visit... and this holds true of all four quarters of Mootopia.  They will not appear in Groups from ALL of the areas but certainly will accompany Guests from more than one area.  I therefore will give a List of all the Guests and then add the Guest Lists where they can be found.

Guest Group Totals
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

When you invite your first group of Guests from the 1 Star Farm Co-op area of the Map, you will have only two Guests on your farm but as you unlock new areas and new Star levels, the business will become increasingly complex.  Some Guest groups include visitors who instantly leap into the water and never will stay on land long enough to allow a Pet who cannot swim to take an Order from him or her.  The total number of Guests who arrive in the hot air balloon will increase and Stamina costs will increase as well.  3 Star Guests often require 300 Stamina from your Pet for a successful bargaining session for a single Order.  Furthermore, all Guests have their own list of Rewards.  If you are looking for specific Rewards in the form of a specific type of Pet Card, study the Guest lists in the Mootopia Menu before you use your Passports.

Passports
xxxxxxxxx

You need a Passport in order to be able to invite Guests to your Farm.  The Passport is shown as a book with a Star in the centre.  The number of Stars on the Passport determines the type of Orders you will receive from Guests.  To do a 2 star order, you need a 2 star passport.  For a 3 Star Order, you need a 3 Star Passport.  Only 1 Star Orders will be available at the start.

When you open the Guest Invite Menu, you will see the number of Passports you have currently as well as the number that will be needed to invite Guests.  If you see -1 for example next to the Start Button, it signifies that your Passports will decrease by one when you invite the next lot of Guests to your Farm.

The Paths Menu in the Guest House shows the number of Paths needed to invite Guests as well as the number currently connected on your Farm.  At the start, you will need a total of 10 connected Paths to invite any Guests.

Number of Passports
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

You should have one 1 Star Passport per day from the start.  When you have unlocked a 2 Star area of Mootopia, you should have access to a 2 Star Passport in addition to the 1 Star Passport each day.  In other words, you should be able to invite one group of Guests from a 1 Star area and one group of Guests from a 2 Star area.  You should have a total of 3 Passports, one for each Star level, when you have unlocked a 3 Star area.  Note that the 1 Star and 2 Star Passports are given on a daily basis, but the 3 Star is given only once each week.

Level 2 or 2 Star Mootopia
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Each of the four areas of Mootopia have upgraded Levels as well.  You must fulfil a set of requirements to unlock each and they must be unlocked in order.  Note that, as with the Level 1 or 1 Star areas, the requirements to unlock the Ares differ from the requirements to actually invtte Guests.  To invites a specific group of Guests, you always will need a set minimum number of Paths and/or Water Paths.

These are the requirements to unlock the 2 Star Areas of Mootopia:

Level 2 Farm Co-op requirements:

35 Paths, 9 Water Paths

Reach Level 25
Total Coins earned: 10,000
Highest Score: 5000
15 Telescopes

2 Star Schoolhouse Requirements:

35 Paths, 10 Water Paths

Reach Level 28
Coined Earned: 70,000
Highest Score: 20,000
16 Telescopes

2 Star Peaceful Bay Requirements

35 Paths, 15 Water Paths

18 Telescopes
Reach Level 33
Coins Earned: 60,000
Turtles: 2

2 Star Metropolis Requirements:

35 Paths, 15 Water Paths

Reach Level 35
Coins Earned: 40000
10000 Highest Score
20 Telescopes

Note that in every case, the Coins Earned must be earned by inviting Guest Groups from the area and level last unlocked.  In other words, to earn the 40,000 Coins for 2 Star Metropolis, you must earn them by filling Guest Orders from 2 Star Peaceful Bay.

2 Star Guest Invitation Requirements
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

As with the 1 Star Mootopia Groups of Guests, there are specific minimum Path and/or Water Path requirements that must be met if you are to be able to invite specific Groups of Guests to your Farm, even if the upgraded area itself is unlocked.

2 Star Farm Co-op Requirements:
Minimum total of 35 Paths and 9 Water Paths

3 Star Mootopia
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Once you have unlocked all four 2 Star areas of Mootopia, you will be able to begin to unlock the 3 Star areas and invite their Guests, provided always that Path and Water Path requirements have been met.

Chests
xxxxxx

As of June 2017, the maximum number of Chests that can appear in any given day has been reduced for ALL farmers to 40.  There is another colour of Chest now, after Diamond but fewer Chests to open.

A minimum of 20 Chests will show each day.  Increasing your Landscape Points total will increase the total number of Chests that will appear.  At each Level, your chance of receiving a specific type of Chest will change.  For example, at the initial Level, your best chance is to receive the Bronze Chest.

Here is the old information that no longer is valid as far as Chest totals after 40:

0 to 1000 Bronze Chests are the best chance but you have a low chance of receiving Silver.  None at all to receive Gold or Bejewelled.

1000 to 2000 Silver is the best chance, but there is a liow chance of receiving Bronze and a rare chance of receiving Gold.  No chance of receiving the Bejewelled Chest yet.

2000 to 3000:  You can dig up to 40 Chests a day

3000 to 4000:  You can dig up to 50 Chests each day

4000 to 5000:  You can dig up to 60 Chests per day

At 6000 points, you no longer will receive any more Chests nor will there be a better chance for better Chests.

The Chests are Bronze, Silver, Gold and Bejewelled.  Tap on your Landscape Point total at the top of the left side of the screen to see your current chances of receiving Chests of any type.

Points go from 0 to 5000+

Personally, I do not see much difference in the contents, although you may receive extra items apart from OP and Coins from the 'better' Chests... As they can appear even if you do not have more than 32 Chests per day to open, do not rush to add more Paths to your Farm unless you have the time and energy to spend opening 60 Chests each day!

Chest Totals
xxxxxxxxxxx

The bar at the top left of your screen in the old position of Charm Point total shows a Musical Note and your Landscape Point total but it does more than that.  Tap on it to see how many Chests you can receive with the current Landscape Point total as well as how many remain in the current day.  The Chests are refreshed at reset so open as many as you can before that occurs each day.  Again, the maximum number of Chests now is 40.

Landscape Points and Charm Points now have been added together for a new total as of June 2017.

Items Needed for Upgrades
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Telescopes:  You will find Telescopes randomly in Chests of every type.  These are needed for Mootopia Upgrades and Star Level Upgrades both for regular Mootopia and for the Special Seasonal Guest Groups.

Pink Paint:  Pink Paint is needed for Pet House upgrades and is given randomly as a Reward by Guests.

Red Pet Equip Scroll:  Red Pet Equip Scrolls are needed to forge Level 1 Pet Equipment in your Factory.  They are given randomly as Rewards by Guests.

Level 1 Pet Books:  These can be found randomly in the Coin Mystery Shop and are used to forge Level 1 Pet Equipment.

Level 10 Pet Books:  These are given as Coffee House Level 1 Star Final Reward and are used to forge Level 10 Pet Equipment in the Factory.

Yellow Pet Equip Scrolls:  These are given as Coffee House Rewards and used to forge Level 10 and Level 20 Pet Equipment.

Level 20 Pet Books:  These are Coffee House Level 2 Final Rewards and are used to forge Level 20 Pet Equipment.

Auto-Bargain Option
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The Auto-Bargain option now is unlocked at Level 1 Country Club which means that any player with Pets and a Guest House should be able to activate it.

Although Support told me this did not exist, it does.  I thought it would be expensive as it has an OP icon with it, but it does not consume much if any OP at this point.  You will find it in the Tool Bar at the very top of the right above the Search option (Magnifying Glass).  Tap on the yellow arrow on the bottom right of your screen to access the general Tool Menu.   It is in the MAIN section of the Tool Menu and not the Paths Menu.  If you enable it, your Pets will greet Guests and bargain with them even if you are absent from the game.  You will find that, as you unlock more areas of Mootopia, Guests take longer and longer to bargain with your Pets.  Utter frustration may win out against the desire to conserve OP... in any case, you should be aware of the option.

NOTE:  Although it allows your Pets to greet your Guests, bargain and take the Orders, you still have to complete them!  Do not forget to go into your Guest House Menu at the end of the visit to actually SELL the items they want to them and collect your Rewards!  Furthermore, as discussed in a previous section, you do need to monitor energy Levels if you want your Pets to be able to complete all Orders successfully.  If a Pet's Stamina level falls below the amount required to complete a successful bargaining session, the guest ultimately will leave without giving the Order to the Pet to add to the 'To-Do' List of Orders.

WHEN NOT TO USE AUTO-BARGAIN
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

When you have a Group of Guests wandering about your farm and a group of Pets to take their Orders, you may find often that the Pet with the highest sales ability may not go to the Guest who needs special treatment because he or she is harder to satisfy than the others.  This is when some players turn off the Auto-Bargain option temporarily to make certain that the Pet with the highest sales capacity (usually a Cat) will go to THAT Guest and not another easier one.  This is only a good strategy if you can monitor the game during the Guest visit.

How do you Choose which Guests to Invite?
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I need to unlock all the 3 Star areas ultimately for this guide, but if I did not need to do that, I would move more slowly.  As you unlock higher levels, your Pet will require more and more energy to complete all the Orders.  You will be forced to feed him or her incredible amounts of food and indeed, unlocking more Pets means that you have to feed every one you are using.  I basically would suggest that you choose your Guests according to the Pet Cards you hope to receive from them.  Every Guest has a different list of Reward items and although the actual Rewards are random, they always come from that specific list.

You will need 2 Turtles to be able to unlock all of the 2 Star areas of the Map.  You will need 4 Pets at a specific Level when you begin to unlock the 3 Star Areas.  The Cats tend to be the quickest in terms of bargaining abilities and it is interesting to note that the developers have offered special Pets such as the Black Labrador and the Maple Cat for cash recently.  These Pets tend to come with higher levels of Stamina and Sales expertise than the ones you earn yourself by collecting Cards from Guest Orders.

For the Chests and Paths as well, I recommend that you pace yourself a little.  Who has time and resources to open 60 Chests every day?  If you do, good for you, but many of us could not find that sort of time or have the resources for that.  To be a good Buddy, you only need to have one Pet and if you can upgrade that one pet and choose to upgrade Stamina, your Buddies can borrow the Pet and find him or her useful.  If you want more than that, do it for yourself, but your Buddies only need that much from you.

Best Pet Food
xxxxxxxxxxxxx

June Korrik and Liz Laidlaw suggested Fried Eggplant and Fried Eggplant Rolls respectively.

Here are the recipes:

Fried Eggplant: 4 Eggplant and 2 Wheat Flour
Note that Wheat Flour is a free gift item.

Fried Eggplant makes 460 Pet Food and I believe that the Fried Eggplant Rolls make 964  Pet Food.  Will confirm when my Pets need more food...

Fried Eggplant Rolls: 2 Baking Powder and 1 Eggplant Roll
Note that Baking Powder requires that you have the Baking Soda Collectable as it is made with: 1 Baking Soda and 2 Cornmeal

Note that the players who reported on these are higher level players.  For a beginner, Eggplant will not be unlocked as a Crop yet as it requires Level 31.

Some other high values are:

Dumplings in Coconut Cream: 365
Pollish Donut with Marmalade: 304

Sad to say, however, all of these require a premium Tree.  The Dumplings in Coconut Cream requires the Jasmine Bush and the Polish Donut with Marmalade requires the Wild Rose Bush...

If you are a player who has not yet been able to amass premium Trees, you can make the following:

Spinach Dumplings: 320 Pet Food
Ingredients:  1 Spinach Salad and 1 Soft Dough
To make Spinach Salad, you need to be high enough to have unlocked Spinach and Onions as Crops.  It requires 2 Spinach and 2 Onions.

Cooking Wine is another good Dish for Pet Food as well as Bait.  It makes 253 Pet Food.
  Ingredients:  1 Wine, 3 Bean

Again, however, Bean has to be unlocked as a Crop.

Sweet Dumplings makes 251 Pet Food and has the following ingredients:
1 Soft Dough and 3 Sweet Potatoes

Sweet Potatoes are unlocked at a lower level than Spinach, Bean or Eggplant.

For a low level player, Chocolate Dream Bar may be one of the higher values at 179 Pet Food, although it is labour intensive, requiring ingredients that are themselves cooked dishes.

Ingredients: 1 Blueberry Krsipy Bar and 2 Chocolates
Although Chocolate is the product of a premium Tree, it is one of the less expensive Trees and one you really need early in the game.

Farm Co-op, Level 2: Guest Orders
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

This was the first experience I had with the 2 Star Guests... seems like a million years ago now:

Hans: 5 Onions, 8 Carrots, Reward; 7 Lettuce, 10 Blueberries, Reward
Michael: 2 Oat Milkshakes, 5 Buffalo Milks, Reward: 5 Milk, 2 Grape Milkshakes
John: 5 Buffalo Milk, 5 Milk
Cassidy: 1 Wheat Bread, 1 Meatloaf, Reward: 1 Meatloaf, 1 Corn Bread, Reward
Jane: 2 Butter, 1 Coconut Milk, Reward; 1 Cake Flour, 1 Fruit Butter, Reward
In other words, the Guests who make 4 Orders at 2 Star Level give two Rewards, one after you fill the first two orders and the other after you fill the other two.  Note here that my Dog, who was at Level 9, I believe, ran out of energy before all Orders were filled even though I had him at Maximum Energy at the start of the visit.  I do enable auto-bargain.  The 1 Star Visitors could be satisfied.  At 2 Stars, it appears to require a lot more Stamina on the part of your Pets.  I had a total of 3 Pets on the farm for the Visitors: my Labrador Puppy, my Turtle and a Labrador Puppy that belongs to a Buddy.

Selling Skill
xxxxxxxxxxx

There has also been a change in the way selling skill works - in that it DOES now work. When turtles serve Peaceful Bay 2-star guests, a selling skill of 82 gives a time of 49:30, a skill of 90 gives a time of 43:05, and a skill of 94 gives a time of 40:30. Additionally, all chests still take 40 stamina to dig, but now give 4 XP.

Cost of Bargaining
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The cost of a successful bargaining session is determined by the Character and not by the location or Star Level.  That having been stated, the Guests who appear at higher levels tend to have a higher requirement in terms of the amount of Stamina a Pet will have to use to conclude any bargaining session to take an Order.

Co-op Farm, 2 Star:  Cost of Bargain with each Guest generally is 150 Stamina.
Metropolis, 2 Star: Cost of Bargain with each Guest generally is 250.
Farm Co-op 3 Star: Cost of Bargain with each Guest generally is 250 but Bill requires 300.

The materials needed to unlock the new 11th slot in the Pet House are given in that post, but I will copy them here as well:

There now is an 11th Slot and to unlock this, you will need the following:

600 Pink Paint
800000 Coins
80 Emerald Glass
20 Bedding Rolls

As of May 2018:

There is a new Level 10 slot in the Pet House.  It will be your 13th slot and requires the following to complete:

20 Bedding Rolls (1 RC each or obtain from Lighthouse Mission or Bedding Roll Bag (Daily Deals).
8000000 Coins
80 Pink Rose Lamps
300 Pink Paint

Unlocking Wilderness:  There are specific requirements now that are related primarily to 2 Star Mootopia but unfortunately, as I unlocked the new Map prior to the change, I do not have the precise new requirements.  It is a bit MORE than simply having unlocked and invited a guest group from 2 Star Mootopia.

Pet Breeding
xxxxxxxxxxx

This is an advanced option really only for Farmers who have too many high level pets now and wish to clear space.

Breed your Pet with Pets of other farmers in Breeding Room.  Your Pet must be Level 20 to be eligible for breeding.  After breeding, your Pet will disappear.  You receive either a Skill Book or a new Baby Pet.

N.B.  Until 15 June, receive 1 Bedding Roll and 30 TC when you use Breeding Feature in Pet House.

In other words, instead of simply letting a Pet go, you can breed it now for a new Pet.

Note that you do not need a Male and Female Pet of the same type in order to obtain a Baby Pet.  You need 1 Pet to breed with a Neighbour's Pet.

Supposedly there is a new slot in the Pet House so theoretically you can own a total of 11 Pets now.

YOU MAY NOT HAVE THE BREEDING OPTION IF YOU ONLY HAVE A TOTAL OF FOUR PETS, IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR LEVELS.

You may need at least one 'extra' Pet beyond the original four.

Pet Breeding
xxxxxxxxxxx

Here is a detailed description of the Pet Breeding option:

As players unlock new slots and new pets, they may find they are going to be in a position where they have more Pets than the game will allow.  Originally, one simply had to 'trade out' or free a Pet in order to obtain a different one.  This was rather a sad business, so the Pet Breeding option was added to the game.

You need to have a Pet at Level 20 or higher to make it eligible for breeding.  You will not be able to place a Pet in the Breeding Nest unless it is inactive.  What this means essentially is that it cannot be in one of the four 'active' Pet slots.  The inactive Pet line-up is shown in the SECOND tab of the Pet House, while the 'active' Pets are shown in the first tab.  It has nothing whatsoever to do with the status of an active Pet... whether out opening a Chest or taking an Order or sleeping in the Pet House.  If the Pet is in one of the four 'active' Slots, you cannot breed it until you switch it out to inactive status where you will see it only in the second slot.

If you wish to breed a Pet, you need a Neighbour to accept your invitation after you place your Pet in the Breeding Nest.  Note that you will lose your Pet essentially once you have bred it.  You will receive a reward in the form of a baby Pet or a special Skill Book.  The only reason to breed a Pet is if you have too many Pets and wish to clear one out... for example, if you have only Male Dogs or Male Cats, you may wish to try to obtain a Female through Breeding.  It is an advanced option that allows you to obtain a Reward for letting a Pet go.

Pet Registration
xxxxxxxxxxxxx

You now can register your Pets in the Gallery and a Male Pet is registered separately from a Female Pet of the same species or type, so this is another way to try to persuade us to trade out or breed our Pets in an attempt to obtain one of a different gender.

New Mootopia Map
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Unlocking Wilderness Map
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The requirement for doing so did not appear for me initially as I had met it without knowing it existed.  I do know now, however, that you need to have unlocked 2 Star Metropolis to be able to progress to the Wilderness Map.

The actual requirements now are:

24 Telescopes
1000 Landscape Points
35000 Coins Earned (earned from Metropolis 2 Star)
Have 4 Level 12 Pets

Scroll to the right of the Map to find 4 new areas on a Map called Wilderness.  You will need to earn 22875 Coins from 1 Star Forest Guests to unlock 2 Star Forest Guests.  It may or may not take 6 Visits to achieve total.... it depends on how quickly you can take the Orders.  You will need 65000 Coins from either level of Forest to unlock 1 Star Lagoon.  If you wish to invite Lagoon Guests, you will need access to the Island as one of the requirements is 200 Dev Points.  Dev Points are linked to the Island.

When you unlock 2 Star Forest, you will find that, although the number of Orders for each Guest remains only 3, the Bargaining Cost is far higher at 325 Stamina for each Guest Order.   Furthermore, there are 5 Guests instead of only 3.   They may ask for advanced Stove House Dishes such as Cubic Apple Tart or Island items.  Be prepared!

New areas of Mootopia give new Pet Cards.  The Guests from Forest give Hedgehog Cards.
Lagoon Guests include Water Guests and give Hippo Cards.

Hedgehog:  Can be redeemed with 300 Hedgehog Cards
Hippo: Can be redeemed with 300 Hippo Cards

Stove House Dishes and Wilderness Guest Orders
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Forest Guests certainly are fond of Stove House Dishes but I thought it might be useful to add a little warning about this.  Some Dishes only have one version which means a star of one colour after the dish and only one icon.  Others, like the Exotic Cherry Cake or Stuffed Scary Tomato have two different versions which means two different pictures and two different star colours beside them.  If you have to purchase the Dish from the E-Mart, make certain you do not waste TC on the wrong version!

4 New Areas of Mootopia

Note from Freyashawk:  For the Bronze French Fries, I placed Potatoes, setting timer for 24 minutes.  Added Sugar and tapped 'Finish' almost instantly.  Certainly with 5 minutes, 50 seconds still remaining to the 30 minute maximum, the Bronze Star was activated.  I think you could place potatoes, set timer for 22 minutes, add sugar, set timer for 2 minutes and tap 'Finish' as soon as Bronze Star activates.

Pet Registration
xxxxxxxxxxxxx

All Pet types can be registered now in the Gallery and there are separate registrations for male and female.

Skill Books
xxxxxxxxxx

Skill Books now can be obtained when you breed a Pet, by choosing a random Skill Book rather than a Baby Pet.  You can buy Skill Books now in the E-Mart (and sell them) as well.

The Skill Books are:

Vigour:  Raise total Stamina by 5%
Bargaining Book
Motivation Book
Friendliness Book
Money Maker Book
Rest Book
Negotiation Book
Encouragement Book

There are Advanced versions of each of these.

Hedgehog
xxxxxxxx

The Hedgehog begins with 200 Stamina and 160 Sales.
Chance to get: Motivation, Bargaining, Luck or Advanced Negotiation Skills.

At each Level, choose 60 Stamina or 8 Sales.

The only Apparel that can be applied is the Hat.  Nothing can be forged in the Factory for the Hedgehog.

Tips on Upgrading Pet House and Pets
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Due to the addition of the Flea Market to the game, players can buy materials needed for Pet House upgrades from other Farmers, especially when these are Stove House Dishes such as the Blue Star French Fries or the Gold Star Baked Banana Splits if they have not unlocked these themselves or do not have the desire or patience to make them in their own Stove Houses.

There are other materials, however, that cannot be purchased.  These primarily consist of the Telescopes randomly found in Chests opened by Pets on the Paths and the Pink Paint randomly given by Guests when their Orders are filled.

The other type of Upgrade is the Upgrade in Level for your Pets.  There are a number of way to earn Experience Points to increase your Pets' Levels.

The way by which the most Experience is earned is through bargaining with Guests.  Remember always, however, that the Pet will not be able to interact AT ALL with a Guest if the Guest has too high of a Bargaining Cost for that specific Pet.   You can find the Bargaining Cost for each Guest in the Guest Lists in this Post and my original 'All About Pets' Post.

The Bargaining Cost for any Forest Guest is as follows:  if 'Easy', it is 125 Bargaining Cost.  'Medium' is 325 Bargaining Cost and 'Difficult' is 700 Bargaining Cost.

If you look at the initial Stamina of the Hedgehog that can be obtained from Hedgehog Pet Cards earned from these Forest Guests, you will see that it is 200.  What this means essentially is that you cannot use a Level 1 Hedgehog to meet any of the 2 Star or 3 Star Forest Guests.  You need to increase his/her Stamina to 325 at least if you wish to use a Hedgehog in an active Pet group to meet with 2 Star Forest Guests.

Another way to earn Experience is by setting the Pet to open Chests on the paths.  Smaller amounts of Experience are earned but it is a good activity for low level Pets.

Finally, you can obtain Pet Cookies/Biscuits from performing tasks in the Coffee House and when your Pet Searches for any Coffee House item demanded, he/she will earn 30 Experience whether or not the item is found.

How do you determine which Pets to use and which area of Mootopia and which Guest Group to choose?  Well, it all depends on your current goal.  I never distinguished between different goals initially.  I simply struggled to move forward and always invited the most difficult group in the most recent area I had unlocked.

It was recently that I realised there was a difference between the goal of collecting specific Pet Cards and the goal of collecting Pink Paint.  If I had a Hedgehog, did I really need to continue to invite 2 Star Forest Guests to earn the Pink Paint I needed to unlock a new slot in my Pet House?  If the 2 Star Metropolis were easier to satisfy, why not invite them instead, at least until I obtained the 600 Pink Paint I needed?

I therefore offer this little tip to other farmers.  Look at your primary goal.  If you wish to earn specific Pet Cards, then you look for the Guest Groups that give those Cards as Rewards, but if you wish to earn Pink Paint, find the easiest Guest Groups to give it to you!

More about Landscape Points
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I have published the Paths and the number of points within their spheres of influence above.  Using the Move Tool, you can pick up any Decoration or Base and move it about your farm to see where it actually would ADD points to your Total.

A valued member of our Family Farm Seaside Freyashawk Group, Mariana Rees Booth wrote a little essay on the whole landscaping business early in the days of landscape points and I thought it might be helpful to post it here:

You can check your landscape points by using the search (magnifying glass) function on the paths menue. This will show all your paths and the landscape points they are contributing.

My recommendation to get the most points is to start with the paths with the highest maximum point value. These are where you want to place your bases and upgraders and you want to place them so they max out as many paths as possible (I suggest wrapping the paths around these items). Next put down some ponds for your turtle. Place decos next to the ponds to max their points value (pond=25, pond shore=50). Then begin putting down other lower value, coins paths as you can afford them, placing decos next to each path so that the points value is maxed.

Something I have noticed as a trend.... There are a lot of 'patios' or 9, 12, 16, or more paths all together in a box shape. When you do this, make sure you are getting the max landscape points for the paths in the middle of the box. Check this using the path search discussed above. If the middle paths show little to no points, these are a lost opportunity for points. Consider putting a deco (or 2) right in the middle of the patio so these points aren't lost.

Also consider paths that are up against the edges of your farm. If you have paths 2 to 3 deep against an edge of your farm, most decos cannot influence the paths all the way on the edge. Do the same check of the deco's area of influence and make sure the edge tiles are maxed out for points. If not, consider removing the path line on the very edge and replacing it with small decos. Or, if you have 3 paths deep, consider removing the middle row and making an oval (racetrack) effect with decos down the middle. There are many very small decos that will fit in these spaces and will help you max out your points.  (by Mariana Rees Booth)

Pet Breeding
xxxxxxxxxxx

Premium Pets
xxxxxxxxxxxx

With the release of a new type of Premium Pet in the form of the Red Turtle, I decided to log all the beginning stats and potential Skills of all the Premium Pets in the game.  As you can see, the Cats and the Red Turtle begin with the highest Sales ability, but the Red Turtle outweighs ALL the others in Stamina.

The number of skill slots for any premium Pet is 4.  The number of Skill Slots for any 'regular' Pet is random and can be as little as one or as many as 3.

Maple Cat: 250 Stamina, 150 Bargaining power
Chance for 5% increased Selling, 12% Advanced Motivation (reduce stamina), Luck (10% extra coins) or Advanced Bargaining (25%

Black Lab: 500 Stamina, 100 Bargaining Power
Chance for 5% selling improvement (Bargaining), 12% Advanced Motivation (reduce Stamina cost), Luck (10%), Advanced Luck (30% extra coins)

Chocolate Lab 500 Stamina, 100 Bargaining Power
Chance for 5% Bargaining, Advanced Money Maker (20% extra coins), Vigour (raise Stamina limit by 5%), Advanced Motivation (Reduce Stamina cost by 25%)

Red Turtle: 750 stamina, 150 Bargaining Power
Chance for Motivation (reduce stamina cost by 2%), Advanced Motivation (Reduce Stamina cost by 12%), Rest (recover 10 more stamina per hour when sleeping), Advanced Vigour (Raise Stamina limit by 35%)

Misty Cat: 250 Stamina, 150 Bargaining Power
Level Up either by 50 Stamina or 9 Sales
Chance for Advanced Bargaining (improve selling ability by 25%), Vigour (raise Stamina by 5%), Rest (Recover additional 10 stamina per hour in Pet House), Advanced Motivation (Reduce Stamina cost by 12% when digging or selling)

Strategies in Choice of Pets
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Will initial Stats determine your choice of which Guests to serve to obtain Pet Cards for new pets?  To some extent, that is determined by the requirements for unlocking new areas of the Mootopia and Wilderness Maps.  You must earn specific totals often in the previous area of the Map to unlock a new area.  There are a number of Guest Groups that include three Water Guests... you can manage with two Water Pets of your own as long as you can borrow a third from a Buddy but it is almost impossible to move forward with those Guests if you only use one Water Pet.

Obviously the game developers give the Premium Pets higher stats in order to induce players to purchase them.  The Red Turtle may be the most powerful premium pet in the game so far, with both high Stamina and high Sales at the start.  Another advantage the Premium Pets have is that their maximum Levels tend to be 25 instead of 20.    They are expensive, however, but unlike Premium Decorations or Premium Pet Apparel,  they give real advantages to the farmer!

Pet Breeding
xxxxxxxxxx

You have the option to breed any Pet that has reached  Level 20, whether it is a 'regular' or 'premium' Pet.

When you breed a Pet, you need to choose between two possible outcomes: either a new Level 1 Pet or a random Skill Book.  If you are breeding a Pet in order to clear a slot for a different sort of Pet, you will be best served by choosing the Skill Book, but if you wish to have the same type of Pet but of the other gender in order to be able to register it in the Gallery, you will choose to receive another Pet.

Instructions for Breeding
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Go first to the third tab on the top of the Pet House Menu, the one that shows a Pet Bed with ears. Tap on the plus sign in the centre of the large Bed.  You will see a list of all the Pets you own that can be bred.  Note here that you cannot breed your ONLY Pet.

The game states: Only free Pets which are not located in your Pet Slots (first tab) that have reached Level 20 can be placed in the breeding room.

Active Pets cannot be placed in the Breeding House.  You need to fetch any active Pet you wish to breed if he/she is outside and make him/her inactive before you will be able to send that Pet to the Breeding House.

Once you have placed a Pet in the Breeding House, you will have a number of different choices.  There are three different tabs to the left of the Menu.

Note here that you can use the Breeding Room as a storage or extra slot for a Pet if you are at maximum in the Pet House but if you wish to return it to the Pet House proper, you will need an empty slot.

A Pet in the Breeding Room will be actively searching for a mate for a specific length of time.  If you do not receive a response to any invitation or do not accept any other farmer's offer to breed, the Pet will not longer be an active participant in the breeding menu... you can renew it, however, instantly.

The second tab on the left shows all Pets who are available for breeding with your Pet.  At the top right, you will see a Neighbour Icon.  That can be changed to a Global Icon to widen the search if no neighbours have the opposite gender of the Pet you are offering.

The third tab is available for messages to be sent or received.  These usually consist of 'bribes' or payment in the form of TC to sweeten the breeding offer.
