This is the second flashback.  Activate at the menu from the same island as Treasure Island activities.

Once activated, any previous story will close in 24 hours.  You have five days to complete the time-limited Rewards.

As soon as I activated, my game crashed, but I was able to reload.

Note from Freyashawk: I always have asked only that players vote for my farm HM. Freyashawk to try to help me with my farm's rank.  All farmers really could organise their farms to reach 6000 points by the end of the contest.  If they choose not to do that, of course that is their right, but I cannot reach any rank without the votes of other farmers.  I always felt those votes showed how much use my site actually was.  It appears that it is far less useful than it ever was as my farm is not even in the top 20 now.

I do realise however that the contests are rigged and it is kibd of amazing if I still can show on the board.

We all need a little motivation.  I know a lot of my old neighbours no longer play the game.  It has become very demanding.  I have tried to step up to create posts about all the new options to help farmers navigate and make their choices.  It is discouraging when people who either are my neighbours or members of my Facebook group do not even know what is included on this site... the Research lab upgrades both on Seaside and the Cloud, and every farm expansion requirement are only two examples.  

Tomorrow, I will see the results of this Farm Beauty Contest and a new Quest will be released that I will log for this site.  I never have received either a single oenny or any recognition for this work from Funplus.  I did not demand any.  In the early years, they offered little or no explanation for anything in the game.  Their Support now is far better, so perhaps my site is less valuable.  

To be fair, players still do reach out occasiomally to thank me for my work and I appreciate that.

Energy Tip:  Energy is shared between Treasure Islands and Cloud Farm.  When you obtain the Float, if you still have unopened gift boxes, leave them on the map until the last day of the Activity.  Go to the Treasure Island each day to collect your temporary energy and then trade at the fountain.  Use the Energy on your Cloud Farm!

Introduction:

I understand that many farmers know how Treasure Island Activities work by now.  I will try to add some basic explanations for those who are unfamiliar with these Activities. 

I wrote a direction based on previous Treasure Islands but discovered the developers changed the numbers.  At the beginning, temporary Energy   begins to accrue if your permanent energy is 100 or greater.   You only can withdraw it if your pernanent Energy drops below 100.  Later, however, the total changes to 120 and it only begins to accrue if your permanent Energy is 120 or greater and you can withdraw it only if your permanent drops below 120.*

*It is possible the greater limit is due to purchase of the VIP Pass, because although I completed Treasure Island, when I bought the VIP Pass, I saw a prompt to the effect that enwrgy increased by 30.  It now shows permanent Energy with a limit of 130.  This limit represents the highest it will accrue over time.  It appears that buying the Cloud Farm boost (Energy Benefit Card) raised it by another 10 points as now it displays a cap of 250.  Don't ask me to explain.  Trying to work it out.

The permanent energy will increase in time as well, however, gaining 1 point every 2 minutes but only initially until it reaches a total of 100 and possibly later, until it reaches 120 or whatever total you have obtained with purchases like the VIP Pass.  You have to pay attention.

The most important tricky aspect here are the ways the Energy bars work and how to use the Fountain.  I personally advise upgrading the Fountain to Level 4.

The green temporary energy bar only accrues energy when the permanent energy is at the number that reprezents your maximum.  So always try to leave the game without going below your maximum to allow temporary energy to build.  The total temporary energy begins at 100 but as you make progress on the map, ultimately will increase to 400.

It looks as though the cutoff point when you have a limit of 400 actually now depends on whether you have purchased a VIO Pass or Energy Card.  So it could be 120 Energy, 130 or even 150 instead of 100.  Also the temporary energy stopped when my permanent energy was below 120.  This is a small change in the game.

Your permanent Energy will increase over time and gains 1 point every 2 minutes, but only until it reaches your maximum.  When it is increasing, the bar will glow green.

You cannot use the Fountain if your energy exceeds 1000, so always try to make the trade at the fountain as soon as your ebergy total goes below 1000.  You must wait 8 hours before making another trade.

Note that, for those who do not have it, this is a second chance to obtain the Flower Puff Pastry Cake Machine by performing all Trades

As in other recent Treasure Island Activities, the Star Rewards are not the end of the journey.  One can obtain another Float in the form of the Royal Couple Float that gives 25 OP every four hours.

N.B.  Magic Flowers are a secondary item received whenever you clear objects.  The actual total received with any item is slightly random.  I have tried to make this clear by giving the result as 1-2 or 3-4 Magic Flowers when the total appears to fall in that specific range.  I am abbreviating Magic Flower as MF.

Trading Energy Fountain on first screen:  you cannot upgrade it if your energy total exceeds 1000.

Once your total is less than 1000, you can both trade and upgrade the fountain

Lv 2 costs 10 diamonds

Lv 3 costs 20 diamonds

Lv 4 costs 30 Diamonds

With Level 4, you can trade for 200 Energy and it takes 8 hours before you can make another trade unless you spend 96 Diamonds to skip the time which is counterproductive in my view.

Final Prize for all Trades is a choice between Flower Puff Pastry Cake Machine or 1000 Energy

Cloud Farm Walkthrough through Level 12

Note on 10 February:  Please see my second Walkthrough for all details past Level 12.

I am adding Island Crop Growth requirements for higher levels here now.

As of 28 November, this Walkthrough is complete through Level 12 with requirements to increase Cloud Lab from Level 6 to Level 7.  Also the requirements for Island Crop growth to Level 1 and Batch Fill for the Island and activate Island Production Overview.  Everything where the Cloud Farm Lab is concerned is interwoven as it were with everything else.  Huge quantities of items are needes as well as Cloud Coins.  Even if you do not find a specific tech helpful, you need to upgrade it to unlock other techs.

How the Cloud Lab Techs work:

There are three different tabs for Seaside, Island and Cloud.

To unlock the next tech or group of techs, you must upgrade one of the earlier ones for that tab to Level 1.  If there are five in that group, for example, you only need to upgrade the first one to Level 1 to be able to start upgrading a new one that has been unlocked by reaching a higher level in the Cloud Lab.

As many players ask this, more Owls are obtained as follows:

Upgrade the Research Lab to Level 6.

You will see the Higher Energy Limit tech and the More Owls Tech.

The Higher Energy tech has three levels of upgrade.  The More Owls Tech has two.

Adventurer's Fortune is detailed in this Walkthrough.  The actual tasks will vary from farm to farm.

 I am not able to spend more cash on this at present.  I used the Energy saved from the Cinderella Island, although I would have liked to have saved it for the next Treasure Island.  Support confirmed that there will be more time-restricted Treasure Island Activities in the future.  The rewards from those tend to be of real value.

Note on 18 October: for the next month basically, card packets can be found in the 35 order box of Adventurer Bazaar Rewards, from the Zeppelin and from the Adventurer's Fortune.  It is possible I collected one from the 20 Order box at the Bazaar as well.  Will confirm.

Note on 11 October: In completing the latest timed Quest, I saw how the Cloud Lab techs, especially Batch Fill Island tech, might be useful to farmers at lower levels who need to conserve OP.  You will find both the Seaside and Island Batch Fill tech requirements in this Walkthrough.

The Cloud Farm is permanent and so far, I personally am not that impressed by the Cloud techs.  Upgrading your Research Lab on Seaside produces far greater benefits.

I will continue to work on the Cloud Farm and the techs, however, as time permits.

Today, on 9 October, my Energy finally was reduced below 100 to allow me to see there is an Energy gauge here as well.  At the moment, the limit is 100.  It will refill over time until it reaches 100, when it disappears.  The game tries to send sales offers almost constantly on this Cloud Farm.  Some only are active for an hour or two.

HOW ENERGY WORKS:*

*Since this guide was written, a new Fountain that can be used to collect Energy is available on the Cloud Farm but only at a high level.  Please see my 2nd Cloud Farm Walkthrough for details.

Any energy you have can be used either on the Cloud Farm, on a Flashback like Uncle Carlos or on the Cloud Farm.  The problem here is that the gauge that refills over time will not even appear on the Cloud Farm until your total goes below 100.  In other words, the developers do not want you to stockpile Energy.  Before the Cloud Farm, many of us saved Energy at the end of a Treasure Island for use in a future Quest.  Although you still can do that, you cannot do that if you wish to make any progress on your Cloud Farm.

Access is through a new Rainbow Stairway icon in the centre of the screen and is not through Treasure Island.

That having been said, the blue Energy total will be available both for any current Treasure Island location as well as the Cloud Farm.

Support just confirmed that there will be future timed Treasure Island Quests like Cinderella.  Do not feel you must use all of your energy, gems and Golden Tools.  The Cloud Farm is permanent.  Work on it at your own pace.  Energy can be used on the Cloud Farm or any Treasure Island activity.

Like Treasure Island, tasks will be fed to you.  Tap on the task description when completed to move forward.

There is no time limit as far as I can tell, so be aware of your blue Energy totals and choose how you wish to expend that Energy.  Finish Cinderella first if you want those rewards.

Remember you still have access to the Cinderella Island until that Quest ends.  

Registering items in the Gallery:

This option is not available until you reach Level 2.

When the Arrow appears at the bottom right, tap it for two options: sell or register.  Tap on Register and then the Cloud Farm item you wish to register.

Note that this tool will not appear at the start.  This is confirmed now by a friend in my Community.  I believe it appears at Level 2 when you unlock the Cloud Farm Store.  When the Market icon is added, the Arrow too will appear.

There are a number of different status bars now.  On the top left is your Reputation total in Stars.  This increases as you perform tasks and fill orders. The completion of the first task causes the bar to appear and gives you 10 Stars.

Strategy Tips:  As you progress, you will find that the same items may be required to complete a number of different tasks or upgrades.  It is very difficult to keep track of all of this.  If there is something you wish to prioritise, delete any Bazaar Orders that require the same items until you complete the prioritised upgrade or task.  There is no cost to refresh an Order in the Bazaar.

N.B. Earning Zeppelin Badges is important for Lab upgrades.  Filling Bazaar Orders earns Reputation Stars and Cloud Coins and reaching totals in the number filled also is required for some of the Quests.

There are no time limits, however.  Energy can be depleted quickly when clearing items from the map.

There are at least two kinds of special sales offers.

One is the tiered offer that appears to be limited to a fortnight.  The offers are in a specific order and paying real cash when required will give access to a couple of free offers.  In essence, they act as bonuses.  The last couple of payments are high and I think I will refrain.  I am surmising that, when the fortnight ends, an entirely new sequence will be loaded into the game, but I will confirm.

The other type of Offer is the Advanced Package.  These appear to be valid for a very brief period of 2 days at best.  Some only for 2 hours.

Since writing this guide, there is a new option called the Energy Benefit Card that when purchased operates for a few days only.

The plant that produces Flute Flowers will be generated again on another location when you harvest it.

When I completed Grandpa's Shiny Lab, the game froze.

After reloading:

Basic technologies to farm mire efficiently.  Drag the screen left and right to see more.

For now, we only can begin to research two basic techs.  Increase Cloud Lab Level to unlock more.

Seaside Farm and Island Farm have separate techs.  Tap to start a new research for a different farm.

This is a Scholar Owl.  One Scholar Owl can only research one tech at a time.

To upgrade to Level 2, you need: 50 Celestial Fox products, 5 Celestial Lotus, 2 Zeppelin Badges

And 2000 Cloud Coins

There are were five Cloud Lab Levels.  Now there are more and all are described in my second Walkthrough.

Currently, at this point in the walkthrough, only Seaside Techs are available.

Upgrading the Lab Level is quite different from upgrading the Tech levels:

Upgrading the Lab to Level 3:

15 Marbled Fruitcake, 20 Stone Vine Flower, 20 Peach Sparkling Water, and 3000 Cloud Coins

The requirements cannot be met until you reach Level 7 in the Cloud Farm.

Upgrading the Lab to Level 2 is insufficient.  You must increase the Batch Fill Tech from 0 to Level 1 before you can use it.  Requirements:

80 Celestial Wool, 15 Multifruit Iced Tea, 1 Zeppelin Badge and 1200 Cloud Coins

At the same time, you can reduce the growing time of four crops by upgrading the Tech from 0 to 1, but each has its own requirements, and reduction of time is only 1%.  You can upgrade these each to Level 10 and each level upgrade reduces growth time by another 1%.  It takes 10 minutes for the upgrade to complete.  

My feeling is that sprinklers are more effective, but one of l these techs must be completed in order to move forward to the new techs available at Lab Level 5.  That is the 'Complete the prerequisite tech' requirement in each case.

I upgraded the Cloud Lab from 0 to Level 1 and turned on Batch pickup.  Go to Seaside and tap on any Animal or Machine.  Any completed product from that and other animals or machines on your farm that you failed to collect yourself goes to your barn.

Kind of pointless compared to batch production or the techs on Seaside like Out of Nowhere.

Time-Restricted Torch Festival and Torch Collections Mission

 

A new time-restricted Quest and Collections Mission has been released in Family Farm Seaside.  It deals with a Chinese Torch Festival.  The traditional Torch Festival Quest sequence operates in tandem with a Collections Mission.  The reward for completing the Collections Mission is an Arugula Bush.  This is a Collectable, which means that you cannot purchase it in the Market at this point in time.  Furthermore, there is no way to speed the production of any 'Collectable'.  Your strategy therefore should be to complete the Collections Mission as quickly as possible as Arugula will be needed to complete the traditional Quest sequence.

The new format for the time-restricted traditional Quests is 15 Steps rather than the old 12 Steps.  Rewards are given after completion of Torch Festival IV, Torch Festival VIII and finally Torch Festival XV.  You will receive a special Mission Gift Box for completing Torch Festival IV.  When you complete Torch Festival VIII, you will receive a Lacquer Horn Decoration for your original Seaside Farm.  When you complete Torch Festival XII, you will receive a Special Mission Island Gift Box containing various Farm Aids and finally, at the very end of the sequence, you will receive a Chinese Yi Doll Decoration for your Island Farm.

Strategies for Mission

I recently borrowed a friend's Kindle to start a new farm to see how difficult it would be to complete some of these Quests and Missions as well as how difficult it would be to play this game without investing in RC.  I was able to level up quickly but came to a virtual standstill where the time-restricted Quests were concerned mainly because I had insufficient RC (only 1 RC given per level increase) to purchase many of the Trees that are needed.  There is a solution, however, although it is much harder if you are playing on the Kindle.  Many of the premium Trees appear randomly in the Mystery Store for Green Mystrons.  Unfortunately, the advertising balloons carrying Green Mystrons have been disabled on the Kindle because of glitches in the system so it is more difficult to earn them if you are playing on that platform.

Do remember this, though, if you need a premium tree and do not have enough RC to buy it.  It will take a long time to amass them using only Green Mystrons but I expect it can be done in time.

As far as other strategies are concerned, where any time-restricted Mission has a Collectable as the Reward for the Collections Mission, you will NOT be able to purchase it in the Market while the Mission is ongoing.  Some of the Collectables never have been added to the Market.  Your first priority, therefore, should be to complete the Collections Mission.  You need to be able to place the Arugula Bush in Torch Festival VII, so you do have time to complete some of the Torch Festival tasks in conjunction with the Collections Mission.

Arugula is needed in Torch Festival IX.  The amount of Arugula you will obtain whenever the Bush is ready to be harvested is random.  If you are impatient, you may prefer to pay your way out of this by purchasing the Arugula needed for the Recipe.  I obtained only ONE Arugula the first time I harvested my Arugula Bush.

As always, the more completed Dishes you have in your Barn, the less difficult it will be to make the Recipes required.  Many of the ingredients ARE Cooked Dishes themselves.  Make these in advance whenever possible.  Power always is limited but if you perform all your Daily Tasks, including visits to Neighbours, you should have plenty of Power in your Gift Box.  I save mine for Missions and Quests like these.  I have included Ingredients wherever possible in the descriptions of the Tasks.

Torch Festival X through Torch Festival XV include Island Tasks, making access to the Island necessary unless you are willing to spend huge amounts of RC to skip Island Tasks.  Remember that the actual requirements for being able to perform an Island Task will depend on your Mastery of Machines and your Dev Point total.  My Island Guide gives all the requirements for each Machine and Item.  Some Island Tasks in this Mission require items from the Seaside Farm.  Read the descriptions of the Tasks and, if the actual transport of the item in question is not a Task as well, send the items to the Island in advance.

I never can stress the importance of making and keeping 'basic recipes' or 'staples' in your Barn.  They are used again and again and, as every Cooked Dish requires 1 Power to make, having them available in advance for use is a real help.  Among the basics needed here are Condensed Milk, Soft Dough and Honey Syrup.  You never can have enough of these items...

One of the Cooked Dishes required to complete a task is Lemon Fish.   This is a dish that was required in the most recent round of the Cooking Stand Contest, so you may find that your stores of Butterfish now have been exhausted.  Remember always that you can use the 'Boost' to catch precisely the item you need when fishing.  It makes fishing so much less frustrating!

It may be worth mentioning the Daily Task list in this context.  Recently, this new option was introduced to the game.  It features in the final material needed to complete the Mini-Garden as you need to be able to open the first Treasure Chest on the path each day in order to find the Iron Pots you need.  Every other day, an Iron Pot will be included in the contents of the first Treasure Chest.  The reason I mention it here, however, is that it is a good way to amass the Farm Aids you need for time-restricted Quests.  The third and final Gold Chest actually contains 1 Yellow Mystron as well!
