Wedding Anniversary Quest and Sky Lantern Collection Mission

(Above, photographs of Sky Lanterns that have been released.  These are a part of many festival traditions in various parts of Asia.  Sky Lanterns and Floating Lanterns are associated with specific festivals as well as individual celebrations.)

QUEST NOW COMPLETE

A new 11 day Quest has been released in tandem with a Collection Mission.  The reward for the Collection Mission is a 'Collectable' in the form of a Sesame Pot.

The greatest news of all, for me, is that the beautiful Iris, Pink Primrose, and Love Rose have been added to the regular Market as Crops!  As you will see, they all are featured in the traditional Quest sequence, but I do not know if they will be in the market temporarily or on a permanent basis.  Perhaps we need to request Support that they be kept permanently!

Some may recall that I lost all of my beautiful rare flowers: Iris, Pink Primrose and Love Rose a few months ago when my Cropinator harvested instead of picking.  Many of my good neighbours and friends from Seaside wrote to Support on my behalf and they finally sent me seeds for the Crops I had lost.  I thanked Support of course, but reminded them that I was not the only farmer who longed for these Crops to return to the Market, that there were many who had lost theirs over the years.  Now it seems, the developers have responded!

A Message from Felicia today has an Update Survey.  Unfortunately, it does not allow us to express our opinions about the Crops.  It does give a small gift if you participate.

Note from Freyashawk:  I really wish to thank every farmer who voted for HM. Freyashawk.  Just managed to make it to Number 10, for which I am most grateful!  It does inspire me to keep updating this site, especially at this point in my life, and apart from that, the game is becoming huge, which means more new posts, as well as trying to update existing ones.

Strategy Tips
xxxxxxxxxxx

If you are a low level farmer, try to complete the Collection Mission whatever else you do. The traditional Quest sequences usually appear in the Lighthouse once the Quest expires, but the Reward for the Collection Mission, although it will appear in the Market will have an RC price attached to it.

If you have Mechology, you can use Out of Nowhere to collect Machine products and they should count towards task totals.  If you have Zoology, you should be able to use Wild Hunger for the same result with Animal Products.

No fishing, no Pet Chest tasks for this Quest, so go ahead and use Nets and collect Pet Chests.

All About Pinkleby

(Above, incomplete first Map, when the option first appeared in Seaside)

In my own Community, there are a few members who still do not understand how the Pinkleby, that gigantic greedy mutant pink Rabbit operates.  Although I wrote a post when the update first occurred, giving all details about the various Chapters and Techs associated with this creature, I feel it may be helpful to publish a basic step-by-step tutorial now for those who have not been able to explore the system yet.

Before I go on here, I wish to thank every farmer who votes for HM. Freyashawk in the Farm Beauty Contest.  Believe it or not, updating this site takes a great deal of time and energy and, although I have some important issues, none of them pleasant, that must be dealt with in the real world, I am trying to keep this site up to date.  If you still use my site, please consider sending your votes to HM. Freyashawk, especially in these last days of the Farm Beauty Contest where EVERY Vote is needed to rank.

First of all, your Community Leader or Sub-Leader has to unlock the Chef Tech in the Town Office in Watertown.  This is the pink building with the green roof where you can find all the new Community Techs.  There are two separate tabs now.  The first one shows the Techs that can be unlocked for the Seaside Farm, Island and Sea Resort.   I dealt with these in detail in another post.  What you need here are the Techs in the SECOND tab.

The primary Tech that has to be upgraded from the second tab is the Chef Tech. The Recipes Techs below this primary Tech are unlocked by upgrading the Chef Tech, much like new Stove House Lab Research Recipes are unlocked in Seaside by upgrading the Molecular Gastronomy Tech.

Note there that you CANNOT feed Pinkleby any of those Molecular Gastronomy Recipes from Seaside, although you can feed the creature the raw Lab Crops, Tree Fruits, Zoology and Mechology Items.  In the case of Zoology and Mechology, you must process the materials you obtain into the actual items before they can be used either to feed Pinkleby in their raw form or used in the Baking Station to make Watertown Recipes.

The Recipe Techs that you see when you access the Town Office are based on your Active Topic in Seaside.  In other words, you will see a different group of Recipes for each Topic.  I originally wrote my description of these Techs based on my own Active Mechology Topic, but the principle and operation is the same for each of the four Techs.

Baking Stations
xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Once you unlock and upgrade any of the Recipes in the Town Office, you will use one of the four Baking Stations to prepare them.  The Baking Stations are th four buildings at the bottom of Watertown.  From left to right, they are: Mechology, Zoology, Treeology and Cropology.

Although in Seaside, you can cook any Research Stove House Recipe you previously unlocked provided only that you have the necessary ingredients, Watertown is very different.  You ONLY HAVE ACCESS TO THE RECIPES FOR YOUR ACTIVE RESEARCH TOPIC.

If you wish to unlock all possible Recipes for all four Topics, you must switch Topics in Seaside and then proceed to upgrade the Chef Tech FOR THAT TOPIC, and unlock and upgrade all of the Watertown Recipes for the new Topic.

In other words, upgrading the Chef Tech is Topic-specific as are the Recipes you can make in Watertown and you ONLY CAN ACCESS THE BAKING STATION FOR YOUR ACTIVE TOPIC.

Introduction to Pinkleby Chapters
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Pinkleby squats in the middle of the plaza and when you tap on this creature, there should be two separate maps containing 8 Chapters.  It is likely this will change shortly and another Map will be added, but for now, there are 8 Chapters.  Your final point score as a Community for completing any Chapter is linked to your Community's Beauty Points, which you can see on a bar at the top left of your screen, much like your own Landscape Points total.

Only a Community Leader or Sub-Leader can activate a Chapter, but they can be replayed as many times as you wish to earn more Gems and Medals and sometimes raise your Beauty Point total if it was not very high the first time round.

Once any Chapter is activated, tap on the Pinkleby to see its current demands.  Demands always follow the same sequence and pattern.

FEEDING PINKLEBY: For members of Communities who have not participated yet, a quick explanation.  Every Chapter has the same basic system in place.  First, the Pinkleby will ask to be fed 'anything'.  Only Research Lab items or their Water Town derivatives are accepted, however.  Each member can feed 5 items in this way per day.  Reset with another chance to feed 5 items of your choice will occur at reset.  When the Pinkleby reaches 100% in this stage, it then will demand x number of a specific item.  Again, it will be a Research Lab item or its Water Town derivative.  When that phase is completed, 'feed anything' again.  The items and quantities depend on the Chapter you activate.  The first time you complete a Chapter, you receive a Deco that can be placed on a pedestal in Water Town by a leader or sub-leader and will have a Beauty point value.  Whenever you replay a Chapter, you will not receive a new Decoration, but if you have a better score than before, it will boost the value of the existing Decoration that you have.  Each replay, however, will give both Community Gems and Reputation Medals.

IMPORTANT TIP:  All of the items demanded by the Pinkleby are Research Lab items that require Essence to grow or make.  Essences are given by any Guest Groups.  You can invite them and simply send them away without filling ANY Orders to obtain the Essence if you are too busy or lack resources to fill their orders.  Obviously, you will not obtain any Pink Paint or Pet Cards when you follow this strategy but if you need Essences, it is the fastest and easiest way to obtain them.

Buddies who visit your Farm can donate Essence, but in very small quantities.  The number a Buddy can donate is based on Buddy Level.  For any Crop or Tree, the Buddy taps on the actual Crop or Tree that needs the Essence but for Zoology or Mechology, you tap on the Rare Material Bank, formerly the Seed Bank, but now outfitted with refrigeration for the Animal and Machine materials!

Note that EACH Member of a Community should be able to feed the Pinkleby 5 times in one time period until it reaches 100% in any phase.  In other words, every member has 5 chances to feed, but if the Pinkleby's hunger is satisfied, members who did not feed must wait until the next request for any item to use their chances.

The phases of Pinkleby Chapter feedings alternate between 'feed any item' and demands for a specific quantity of a specific item.

Beginning with Chapter 1, we discovered that 'feed any item 5 times' actually is restricted to the basic items one can obtain with any of the four Topics in Seaside as well as the Water Town 'baking station' dishes that are produced using those Seaside items.  Moreover, the 'feed any item' phase operates on a percentage of hunger bar and once it reaches 100%, the Pinkleby will demand a specific total of a specific item 'for winter'.  In other words, the bar may reach 100% without allowing every Member to feed the giant creature.  There will be other chances within the Chapter path, however, as the demands alternate between 'feed anything' and the specific demands.  The last phase will be 'feed anything'.  With 100% completion of the last phase, it began to build the decoration, giving a timer of 19 hours.

This Pinkleby is linked to a path where feeding takes you further to a Chapter reward in the form of a 'Beauty Decoration'.  Currently, there are two separate Maps and 8 Chapters to follow.  Only a Leader or Sub-Leader can choose a specific chapter to follow.  You can choose the same path more than once but you will earn the Beauty Decoration reward only the first time you complete a chapter.

The Decorations you obtain in this fashion will raise your Water Town Landscape Points.  Indeed for the first Chapter, we received a Beauty Decoration that I was able to place on any pedestal in Water Town that raised our Landscape Points there by 72 points.  Note here that other Communities received higher scores than this for the 1st Chapter.  If we replay the Chapter, we can raise our score.

When the second Chapter was activated.  The Pinkleby in this Chapter demanded items that must be prepared in the recipe Stations in Water Town. Specifically, Smoked Drumsticks.  To be able to make the Smoked Drumsticks, your current Topic has to be Zoology and you need to be at Level 1 for the Recipe in Water Town.

As the Pinkleby continued to demand items for the second Chapter, they included Clover Pudding which is the first Recipe in the Cropology Building.  Note that you can activate the same chapters again and again to earn rewards, but you will not receive more than one decoration for any Chapter.

The quality of the decoration or at any rate point total given to it evidently is based on the rapidity with which you completed the Chapter and the actual items given to the Pinkleby.  When you restart and complete any old Chapter again, you can boost your total Beauty Point reward if you perform it faster or better.  The real reason to do these again is to gain Community Gems and Reputation Medals.

In later Chapters, the items demanded required higher levels of upgrade both in Seaside and in the Water Town Techs.

Ideally, your Community should be organised so that you have at least one or two Members for each of the four Research Topics.  Anne and I have logged almost every Chapter demand now, so find the section below that gives the specifics for each Chapter BEFORE you activate the Chapter and try to prepare the items needed in advance.  That way, you will be able to respond to its demands instantly without spending any TC to speed the baking process or without being forced to purchase items in the E-Mart.

Strategy Tip:

xxxxxxxxxx

Sadly, the game encourages speed and value in these gifts to Pinkleby above all.  The difference in the point value of the decoration for a Community that makes haste and one that allows contributions by as many members as possible remains to be seen, but our Community received 72 Points for the first Decoration when placed on a Pedestal and I know two other Communities who received 74 and 76 Points respectively.  So I do not think the difference that significant.  Our Community is trying to stockpile the Water Town Dishes for future use, but instead of one player switching active Techs, we feel it might be better for us to organise our contributions by keeping all four Techs active among Community Members and working out Pinkleby requests accordingly.

Pinkleby Item Values:

Here is a list of all item values, organised by Research Topic.  Anne and I worked on these together.  She is one of my wonderful administrators in my new Group.  If you wish to join my group, feel free to contact familyfarmseaside.blogspot.com on Facebook with your request.

Pinkleby Beauty Point Totals

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Once you have unlocked a Chapter and completed it, you can restart and complete as many times as you wish.  You will not receive a new Decoration when any Chapter is replayed, but if you obtain a better point total at the end of it, it will replace the old total, thus boosting your Beauty Points.

The primary reason to replay Chapters is to earn more Community Gems and Reputation Medals.

Pinkleby's Demands

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

We have discovered that although every Chapter may have different demands, the Chapter itself always will demand the SAME items.  You therefore can prepare for any Chapter before you start again,  Thanks to Anne for helping me log these Chapters and confirm items and Rewards.

Note that 'Feed 5 times any item' is the ability of each Member of the Community to donate up to 5 items of any kind from the Lab or Baking Station until the Pinkleby reaches 100% on a 'fullness' graph.  In other words, if you come to this late in  a 'feed anything' phase, one donation may push the total to 100%.  You then have to wait until the next 'feed' anything phase to use your other 4 chances to donate.  This 5 item ability will be given again at reset, so if your Community does not complete the Chapter BEFORE reset, each member will have the ability to donate up to 5 items again.

Furthermore, there is a limit to the number of specified items that each Community member can donate in a day.  The limit appears to be change with the item requested.   With a replay of Chapter 2, for example, HM. Freyashawk had the total number of Baked Gluten required, but after donating 6 was unable to donate the last two needed.  Another member, however, was able to feed 8 of the 10 Smoked Drumstick, which is odd.

N.B.  Dishes cooked in the Kitchen using the rare Research Lab Topic items cannot be given to Pinkleby.  You must give him either the basic rare Topic item (Crop, Fruit, Meat Tech Item, Machine Tech Item or the items made in the Water Town Baking Stations with those original basic items.

For example, you can give Rambutan or Rambutan Juice but NOT Fruity Layer Cake, which is the Kitchen Recipe unlocked in the Lab when you upgrade Molecular Gastronomy for Treeology at Seaside.

In other words, the Pinkleby gastronomic menu is a little different from the Seaside Topic upgrades.  The kitchen dishes that are unlocked in Molecular Gastronomy are used often in response to Guest demands on Seaside, to Coffee House Orders and for specific Lab Upgrades on Seaside.  The basic raw items associated with any Topic can be used both in Seaside and to feed Pinkleby, but the Baking Station Dishes so far are used solely to feed Pinkleby... or at least that is my own experience.  Note that you can purchase ALL of these in the Rare section of the E-Mart.  Materials are the only 'products' that cannot be bought or sold.  You must process them into the actual Item before they can be used in any Recipe or placed in the E-Mart or fed to Pinkleby.  (I refer here to the items in Mechology and Zoology known as Materials.)

A helpful tip with respect to Materials:  We all feel the pinch of lack of sufficient Essence.  If you are not obsessively trying to obtain cards for Pets, invite a 1 Star Guest Group daily and simply send them away to obtain Essence for processing.  A 2 Star Guest Group gives more Cards in any case.  If you have time to fill 2 Star Guest Orders, by all means invite them and fill the orders, but if not, you can follow the same strategy: invite and send away to obtain more Essence.  It is far better than not using your Passports at all!

Decoration List Beauty Point Bar

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

When you visit Water Town, you now will see a bar on the top left of the screen with the icon of a pink musical note giving your current Beauty Point total.   There is an icon of a bag at the end of it.  Tap on that bag and you will receive a Reward daily... a bag that contains Coins and Tokens for the most part.

New Community Techs

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

There is a second tab now in the Town Office with the following:

Baking Chef (Passive Tech)

  Requires 8000 Gems to unlock

  Only Team Leader can unlock

VERY IMPORTANT:  UPGRADING THIS TECH IS TOPIC-SPECIFIC.  In other words, when you switch topics, you have to upgrade the Tech again for the new Topic and of course, unlock the ability to make all the Recipes for the NEW tech.

You need to upgrade this Tech once unlocked using Reputation Medals.  50 Medals required to upgrade to Level 1.  Upgrading this Tech is what unlocks the ability to cook another Dish in the Recipe Station.  As mentioned above, upgrading the Baking Chef for one Topic will not upgrade for any other Topics.  Each must be performed separately and you ONLY CAN UPGRADE YOUR ACTIVE TOPIC and use THAT Baking Station.  If you wish to upgrade all four Topics, you must switch Topics on your Seaside Farm first.

To upgrade to Level 2: 80 Reputation Medals

To upgrade to Level 3: 80 Reputation Medals

To upgrade to Level 4: 80 Reputation Medals

To upgrade to Level 5: 80 or 150 Reputation Medals

To upgrade to Level 6: 150 Reputation Medals

To upgrade to Level 7: 150 Reputation Medals

Level 7 is the highest level, unlocking all Recipe Stations for Mechology.

After a Recipe Station is unlocked, it MUST be upgraded from Level 0 to Level 1 before it can be used.

There are four Stations, each of which is connected to one of the Topics.  Will log all as time permits.

In Mechology, Level 1 allows you access to Baked Gluten at Recipe Station.

Note that you can upgrade Recipe Stations as well, which reduces production time.  It is only by upgrading the actual Baking Chef Tech, however, that you gain access to more of the Recipe Stations.  You will have access only to the Baking Station for your current active Topic.

For Mechology, the Recipes you can unlock and upgrade are:

Baked Gluten

Baked Whey Biscuits

Baked Flavour Toast

Baked Grape Seed Oil Biscuits

Baked Dark Brown Sugar

Baked Beef Jerky Biscuits

Baked Rose Cake

Baked Gluten: to raise to Level 1: 20 Medals

(Above, a screenshot of the Baking Station that will appear if Mechology is your active Topic.)

Zoology Baking

xxxxxxxxxxxxx

The Chef Tech for Zoology is called Smoked Animal Chef.  You need to upgrade to Level 7 to have all the Recipes.

Smoked Drumstick

Smoked Lamb Rack

Smoked Tenderloin

Smoked Duck

Smoked Turkey Egg

Smoked Golden Egg

Smoked Ostrich Egg

Treeology:

Cubic Apple juice

Surinam Cherry juice

Cropology:

Production Time Reduction

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Upgrade to Level 1 for 20 Medals, Level 2 for 50 Medals, to Level 3 for 80 Medals, to Level 4 for 80 Medals.  Each upgrade reduces production time, but you cannot even make the Recipe until you upgrade from Level 0 to Level 1.

At Level 1, production time reduced by 10%.

At Level 2, production time reduced by 15%.

At Level 3, the reduction in production time is 20%. At Maximum Level 4, the reduction in production time is only 25%.

When you choose a Recipe you have unlocked in the Baking Station, there is an option to request help from another member of your Community.  If you do, production time is further reduced AND the member received a little reward bag.  You can see the option to enlist help in the screenshot of the Recipe Station Menu above.

Adventure in Slovakia Quest and Mini Castle Collection Mission

(Above, photographs of musicians playing the Fujara, a traditional instrument of Slovakia, mentioned by Darryl in the Quest)

A new 11 day traditional Quest sequence has been released in tandem with a Collection Mission.

Please refresh this page frequently until I complete the post.

Note from Freyahawk: A death in the family of some one dear to my heart on Twelfth Night has hit me hard for so many reasons.   I know I am not the only one who has experienced the loss of a parent and I am grateful beyond measure for the kindness of my neighbours and friends in this game who have shared their own grief with me and given me comfort in this very dark hour.

I appreciate this game now because of the friends I have made and the knowledge that so many, like me, go to their farms each day to find a brief respite from pain or lives that are difficult in the extreme.  Bless you all and know that your support is so very appreciated.

Whatever your faith, whatever your religion, I firmly believe that no spirit dies as long as the memory of that person remains in the hearts of the living.  Beyond that, I do believe we are not limited by this life or this world.

I will do the best I can here.  My cousin was kind enough to make these preliminary lists for me.  Anne, one of our wonderful administrators, told me they were correct, but I am trying to include the entire Quest in this post always and apologise for the fact that I have not been as quick as usual.

Strategy Tips:
xxxxxxxxxxxx

Complete the Collection Mission before the expiration of the Quest even if you cannot complete the traditional Quest sequence.  Once the Collection Mission expires, its reward will appear in the Market but it will have an RC cost attached to it.  The traditional Quest, on the other hand, should appear in the Lighthouse and any tasks you have not been able to complete then can be performed.  All of these timed Quests are divided into quarters.  Completion of any Quarter (4 parts) will be credited when the task is activated from the Lighthouse.

Active Techs:  If you have Mechology, you can use the Out of Nowhere Tech to gather products from any machine and those products will count for a task.  If you have Zoology, the Wild Hunger tech can be used to gather products without ingredients that will count towards any task total.

The Crop List and Batch Production Lists should be correct and complete.

Arabian Nights Farm Beauty Contest

A new Arabian Nights Farm Beauty Contest has begun.  At this point in time, one of the rules has changed, but I hope this is some kind of glitch to be honest.

Originally, every single Theme decoration counted only for 1 Vote from 3 of the Characters.  The Arabian Base, if incomplete, did NOT count at all.  As of Saturday, 5 January, this has changed.  I have listed the Theme items that are worth more than 1 vote from each of the 3 Characters who give votes for Theme below.

This farm had not placed two of the old Decorations because she had the three new premium decorations as well as having completed the new Arabian Base... she lost 3 Character votes for theme.

(Above, Arabian Base loaded with the only three Decorations that can be stacked on it at this time.  The fourth position would be occupied by the Reward for 4000 votes.)

Note that they changed the animation for the Princess as well and now she smiles in a pleasing fashion.

I hope the theme vote values were something that went awry during the last update... and that it will be changed.  As of Saturday, it has changed.

New Premium Decorations now worth more than 1 vote from each of three Characters:

Arabian Base: 3 Votes each from 3 Characters
Aladdin and the Magic Lamp: 3 Votes each from 3 Characters
Princess Jasmine: 2 Votes each from 3 Characters
Arabian Monkey: 2 Votes each from 3 Characters

Old premium Decorations worth more than 1 Vote from each of three Characters:

Worth 2 votes from each of 3 Characters, the following:

Ice Cream Princess
Ice Cream Prince
Seal on the Rock
Bobo Fishing on the Ice
Ice Base

All other Theme Decorations are worth a maximum of 1 Vote from each of 3 of the Characters.  If you have reached maximum Votes for Theme from the 3 Characters, you can receive no extra votes for Theme.

Introduction
xxxxxxxxxxx

he Farm Beauty Contest can be confusing and difficult for new player.  Often, they are unaware of their own ability to increase the Votes from the 4 Characters to the point where they can obtain the Reward Decoration without any votes from their Neighbours.  It requires a little planning.  This post was created to show you how to do precisely that.  Every aspect of the Farm Beauty Contest as well as the rules by which each Category operates is covered here.

Remember ALWAYS that the votes you receive from the Characters are based on your current 'Snapshot'.  If you change your farm to obtain more votes, always take a new photograph or Character votes will not change!  You do not need to take a photograph more than once, however, if you set up your farm for maximum Character votes at the very start.

One more point about the 'Snapshot'.  If you play on more than one device, you may see your Photograph only on the device you were using when you submitted it.  Do not fret about this!  It remains valid for the duration of the Contest, even if you do not see it on your other devices.

Theme List now complete with values in terms of Theme Votes as well as where and how to obtain each.  This Contest gives multiple vote values to many old Decorations and each of the new premium Decorations always give multiple numbers of votes for Theme.

The quickest way to maximise theme votes, therefore, especially for a new farmer, is to pay cash for one of the new premium decorations.  They can be expensive, however, and for many farmers, earning the Reward Decoration for 4000 Votes in the Farm Beauty Contest is a long process that requires patience.  Do be aware, however, that the premium Decorations not only count for multiple votes, but give special Rewards often in the form of RC, Yellow or Blue Mystrons as well as giving the best Gift Box both to the host and to the visitor when cleaned.  Sometimes the judicious expenditure of cash in a 'free game' is worthwhile.

For a new farmer, the easiest way, however, to raise your Character vote total probably is by obtaining a couple of farm expansions and by raising your Landscape Point total to at least 2100.  I need to confirm the precise number of points now required to maximise your Landscape Point votes, but it really is worth the effort and you need not spend any premium cash to do this.  There are coin paths that will do the job.  See my section on Landscape Points below.

Knowing where you can capitalise on your own Character Votes is key to success.  For a farmer not to improve his/her farm for the Contest and then beg for votes from Neighbours ultimately is not the best strategy.... why not make the most of your own farm first?  At least then you can guarantee that you win the Reward decoration in EVERY Farm Beauty Contest as Landscape Points remain constant as do Farm Expansions.

Note from Freyashawk:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I created this site 5 years ago shortly after the game first was released.  I maintain and update it with all new Quests and new options, as well as posts like this to help players with every aspect of the game.  I may not be the best farmer in the world, but if this site is useful to you, please vote for HM. Freyashawk in the Farm Beauty Contest.  Your vote for the farm is a vote of confidence for the site.  It is not a matter of personal ego but rather the desire to make players aware of the site.  When HM. Freyashawk places in the top ten in the Farm Beauty Contest, it reminds players that both this site and my Facebook groups for this game exist and, one hopes, can help them with any aspects of the game when needed.  Every vote counts for rank and I appreciate your votes greatly.  I know that it requires an effort on your part to vote for HM. Freyashawk each day.  I only hope that this post helps every farmer attain the total needed for the pretty Reward Decoration.

New Earnable Theme Decorations
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The final Reward for the New Year New Me as well as the Wish Tree from the Collection Mission are Theme Decorations for this contest.

Note to new Farmers
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I believe that the Farm Beauty Contest still is unlocked at Level 30.  Even at that Level, it IS possible to maximise your Farm to obtain enough votes from the Characters to receive the Decoration Reward for having 4000 Votes.

You must start on the first day, however, with the best possible configuration, if you are at the lower levels and have not played long enough to have acquired many of the Theme items.

Even if you are not that concerned about your own results, you can register and help other farmers with your votes.  Even if you feel you cannot obtain a total of 4000 or 6000 votes, do your best to organise your farm for maximum votes to practice for future Contests.  If you are a low level farmer but are willing to spend a little money, purchase of the new theme decorations should make a big difference in theme totals, which could make all the difference in terms of reaching the goal of 4000 votes by the end of the contest.

COUNT YOUR TOTAL EACH DAY.  Most important are the Character Votes.  If you are reaching a total of 200, you will obtain the Decoration.

Tips:  Where Landscape Points are concerned, try to find a Buddy who is at a high level who will send you paths as Gifts.  If you are able and willing to spend RC, the Macaron Path and Pebble Paths can boost Landscape Point totals faster with less effort, but if you can place enough of the other Paths and make certain that your Decorations are within their sphere of influence, you can reach the necessary total for maximum votes in that category.

The theme list is to be found in the little red book in the Farm Beauty Contest Menu.  In many cases, Theme Rewards for old Missions can be activated from the Lighthouse and you can obtain the Decoration without paying RC for it.  Others can be purchased directly from the Gallery using Blue or Yellow Mystrons.  Try to do it at the start, however whenever possible and make certain that, should you improve your farm's configuration, you take a new screenshot immediately!  You do not have to take more than one screenshot during the course of the contest UNLESS you obtain items that improve the Character vote totals.

Every day counts!  Count the total number of votes you receive from the four Characters at the end of the first day of the Contest and then see how you can improve this number if, multiplied by 20 (days), you do not have 4000 Votes as the projected total.

OBTAINING THE REWARD DECORATION
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

You need a total of 4000 Votes by the end of the Contest to receive the significant reward which is the Decoration.  Almost any farmer should be able to maximise the Votes of the 4 Characters to obtain this even without a single vote from a Neighbour.  You basically need a total of 200 Votes per day, although the Contest is giving an extra voting period and that reduces the total needed per day.

If you care about this, register your farm on the first day with maximum votes from the 4 Characters using the guidelines below.

For the Avatar, you need 300 votes per day, but with the recent changes in Character Votes, it is not impossible by any means to reach these totals from the Character votes alone.  If you are receiving 300 votes per day from the four Characters, you will obtain the Avatar by the end of the Contest.  To obtain 300 Votes per day from the Characters alone, you need to have reached Level 90.  If all other categories give you the maximum number of votes, Level 80 - 90 will leave you short of 300 by only 1 Vote per day, however.

VOTE CATEGORY CHANGES
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Apart from Theme values, there are two significant changes from former Contests that became active in recent Contests.  The first is the addition of Pets as a Vote category for Grandma in the form of 'pets with fancy equipment'. The second is a decrease in the totals for the Levels required for Dad's Vote for 'high level farm'.

Pet Category
xxxxxxxxxxx

The total number of Votes that can be given by Grandma for Pets is 12.  Equipment (the collars, scarves and bow ties and so on) that you forge in the Factory each count for 1 Vote.  Apparel counts for the other Votes and it does not matter if it is premium Apparel or Temporary Apparel or even duplicate Apparel.  All will count equally.  A Buddy Pet does NOT count.  That was a glitch.

PETS MUST BE OUTSIDE THE PET HOUSE TO COUNT!

In other words, to gain 12 Votes from Grandma each day for the Pet Category, you need a total of 4 Pets, each wearing a piece of equipment and 2 pieces of apparel.

Some Pets cannot use three accessories.  For example,  the Kangaroo, although you can dress them in hats, do not have the second accessory and the Kangaroo cannot be equipped with any collar or other accessory that can be forged in the Factory.  You therefore need to make certain that the four active Pets do not include a Kangaroo at the point in which the photograph is taken.

For players without premium accessories:  First make certain each has equipment.  Go to the Apparel Menu and find the 7 day hats and accessories for each pet that can be purchased for 100 TC each.  Equip four Pets each with a Hat and whatever other accessory that Pet can use and then let them loose outside.  Take your snapshot for the full 12 votes from Grandma!

High Level Farms
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

This has changed a few times through the years but I only know for certain that Freyashawk at Level 117 received 15/18 votes for 'high level farm' from Dad.  At Level 120, HM. Freyashawk now receives 16/18 votes from Dad for 'high level farm'.   At Level 129, received 17/18 votes... so it is possible that maximum is reached now at 130.  This was NOT the case in the earlier Farm Beauty Contests.  At Level 145, another player received 18/18 but I believe the actual level requirement for maximum votes in this category is lower.

Basic Rules

It is your current photograph of your Farm or 'snapshot' that determines the Votes from the 4 Characters in the game every day.  In previous Contests, a Theme decoration often would be counted if it had been placed on the Farm, even if it had not been registered yet.  I believe this still is true, although it is a good idea to register all theme items as quickly as possible as you do receive rewards for registration.

Balance and variety always is the key in these contests.  You need a variety of Crops, Animals, Trees, Machines and Theme Decorations on your farm to maximise the votes from the 4 Characters.  If you design your Farm for maximum votes from the 4 Characters, you should not need ANY Votes from your Neighbours to obtain the Theme Decoration Reward that requires a total of 4000 Votes by the end of the Contest.

Duplicates never have counted where Crops, Trees, Animals, Machines and Decorations are concerned.  I doubt that has changed.  The only change really is that duplicates of Pet Equipment and Apparel DO count.

Crops
xxxxx

Have at least 16 different Crops on your Farm to obtain maximum Votes from Darryl for 'variety of Crops'.  You may need less but Crops are easy to plant.  They do not have to be mature when you take the photo to count.

Trees
xxxxx

Try to have 16 different types of Trees ON YOUR FARM when you take the photograph.  Trees in the Tree Nursery will not be counted.  Again, you may need fewer than 16 types but it does not hurt to be safe to obtain maximum votes from Grandma for 'enough Trees'.

Animals
xxxxxxx

Beehives and Butterfly Houses as well as the Bat House are considered Animals so every different TYPE of Beehive or Butterfly House counts but duplicates of any type of Animal do NOT Count. You should not need a total of 16 different types of Animal to obtain maximum votes from Felicia for Animals but again, if you have 16, use them.

Machines
xxxxxxxx

In Contests in the past, you only needed a total of 12 different machines to obtain maximum Votes from Dad for Machines but this may have changed.  Players claimed that the Salad Machine gave 2 Votes instead of 1, but never confirmed that.  In any case, duplicates do not count and if you can cram 16 onto your Farm before you take the photo, better to be safe than sorry.

Expansion
xxxxxxxxx

Both Felicia and Dad give Votes for 'Big Farms'.  The good news is that you do not need many expansions on your original farm to obtain 16/16 from each of them.  A farmer who does not have even the 23 x 23 Expansion will obtain maximum 16/16 votes in this category!

Theme

xxxxxx

Only Grandma does not vote for Theme, so you have Theme Votes from three out of four farm characters.  The Theme List always can be found in the little Red Book in the Farm Beauty Contest Menu.

Gallery Registration

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Register as many items as possible BEFORE you take your photograph to maximise this Category.

Both Darryl and Grandma give Votes for Gallery... furthermore, you obtain rewards from the Gallery when you register any item.

Landscape

xxxxxxxxx

'Beautiful Paths' is the term for your Landscape Point total.  As three of the four Characters vote for this Category, it is a very good idea to have Paths on your Farm and place as many Decorations as possible within their 'sphere of influence'.  I have covered the details of Paths and Landscaping elsewhere on this site.  The better the Path, the more points you receive when Decorations are placed next to it or near it.  The Macaron Path, Pebble Path and Snow Path each are worth 50 Landscape Points.  The Snow Path no longer is available but the other two can be purchased in the Paths Menu for 1 RC each.  The Wooden Path is worth 35 Landscape Points and costs 50000 Coins.  Next best is the Forest Path worth 25 Landscape Points with a price of 15000 Coins.  If you have Buddies, however, they can send Forest Paths and Stone and Flower Paths to you.  To send, go to the Special Gifts Buddy Menu.  You can send a Stone and Flower Path to a Buddy for 4000 Coins and a Forest Path for 12000 Coins.  You actually can send a Macaron Path to a Buddy for 1 RC.  There are Buddy Level requirements for sending some of the Special Gifts.

Remember that Landscape Point total is the total of the value of ALL the Paths PLUS the Decorations that are close enough to those Paths to boost Points.

In the past, you needed less than 2300 Landscape Points to achieve maximum... not certain what the current requirement is but here are some farmers who have less than that and their results in the current contest:

1059 Landscape Points: 16/24 Votes

1421 Landscape Points: 19/24 Votes

1484 Landscape Points: 20/24 Votes

1720 Landscape Points: 21/24 Votes

How to Maximise Landscape Points

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

First of all, you will not be able to move any Paths or perhaps even set any new Paths now if you have Pets roaming about your Farm.  You must place all of them in the Pet House before you can set new Paths or move existing Paths, including Water Paths as well as those on the land.

Remember that placement of Decorations and Bases is everything.  A Decoration or Base will give additional Landscape Points only if it is placed near a Path that has not used its maximum number of Points yet.  For example, the Macaron Path can give a boost of 50 Landscape Points when Decorations are placed close to it.  Once that amount is reached, however, piling more Decorations or Bases near it counts for nothing.  Use the Move Tool to hover over various spots to see how your Landscape Points will be affected.

Pet Category

xxxxxxxxxx

This is a new Category and only Grandma votes for it.  To gain 12 Votes from Grandma each day for the Pet Category, you need a total of 4 Pets, each wearing a piece of equipment and 2 pieces of apparel.  A Buddy Pet on your Farm at the time you take your photograph will NOT count.  That was a temporary glitch.

You can purchase apparel for a temporary period in order to take a snapshot that will give you more Votes for this category.

High Level Farm

xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Only Dad gives votes for a 'high level farm'.  At Level 117, HM. Freyashawk received only 11 Votes for this category in previous contests but now is receiving 16/18 at Level 120.

Here are some current results:

Level 40: 6/18 Votes

Level 47: 6/18 Votes

Level 48: 7/18 Votes

Level 63: 8/18

Level 76: 10/18 Votes

Level 79: 10/18 Votes

Level 129: 17/18 Votes

Update for 1 January 2019

A new update in Family Farm Seaside makes the game even MORE competitive.

You can find the post containing all details about the still current New Year New Me Quest here:

New Year New Me Quest and Balloon Collection Mission

It includes the Order Champion Menu, accessed through the icon of a Pavilion in the centre of the screen at the top.  The Order Champion Event is a weekly one, that will be reset at reset on Thursday or whenever your own time zone has its reset.

Here is a screenshot of the Order Champion Board, showing the time remaining for this particular week and the number of points that placed me temporarily at No. 1.  These points were achieved only by spending quite a lot of TC.  After reset, some one attained No. 1 with over 650 points.

Here you will be thrown into a random group of players whose rank will be based on filling the following Orders:

Order Corner: Community Order Board, consisting of two Orders
  Every Order gives 10 Points

Coffee House
   Every Order gives 1 point

Guest groups
   Every Order gives 1 point

Helicopter
  Every order gives 2 points

Boat Orders
  Every order gives 3 points
N.B.  No points for filling your own Boat's Order

Order Board Seaside
  Every order gives 5 points

You will see all the members of this random Group when you tap on the Pavilion Icon as well as your progress in terms of moving to the next Level.  One farm upon performing all of the Order Board orders, was sent immediately to the Pavilion menu and received 10 'Coins' that actually are special Tokens for Decorations from the Gallery and 5 Blue Mystrons as a 'Participation Reward'.

The items available for purchase from the Gallery using these special Champion Coins include the Egyptian 'Cat Statue' at a price of 200 of these special Coin Tokens.

Here is a screenshot of this decoration showing the token price:

(This is from HM. Freyashawk where I performed the original Quest that gave the Cat Statue as its reward.)

Note here that you receive 10 if you simply perform ONE of the Orders that are eligible for rewards.

Note on 4 January:  I used an incredible number of resources, time and energy to reach 899 points and the No. 1 position in my group before reset on Thursday.  And to what end?  I was placed in a Level 2 group where every one is even MORE competitive and where I have no chance of going higher and quite possibly could be pushed back to Level 1.  What is the point of any of this?  I believe a player is best served if he/she simply obtains the Participation Award.  After all, I believe there is no time limit on this particular 'activity' and the Decorations will remain available for purchase from the Gallery.

There are many Gallery Decorations now that can be purchased EITHER using 300 Blue Mystrons or 200 of the special Coins.  I recommend using the Coins on Decorations that do not have another purchase option personally.

Note that if you performed these orders BEFORE you received the update, you will be limited somewhat today in the number of points you can earn.  Remember that, if you are willing to spend real money or have amassed TC, you can use TC to buy more Boat Whistles and use TC, or depending on the day of the week, Coins and then Green Mystrons to refresh your Order Board on Seaside.  Today you need first 100 TC and then 200 TC to refresh the Board.  1 Whistle costs 10 TC, then 2 Whistles for 50 TC, then 1 RC for 2 Whistles.  Helicopter Orders have the usual menu.

I only am spending the extra cash to write this guide.  I am not certain that the rewards of being on the top of the list are worth any price...  As my boat is fully upgraded and I only receive Helicopter Bags now for Helicopter Orders, I ordinarily would not bother with all of this and probably will not do so again.  For players who are not at maximum yet on the Island and still earn Dev Points with Helicopter Orders, this new Champion business may be an incentive to perform extra tasks.

Maximum of 50 farmers in any 'group' and only the top 10 will advance to Level 2.  You will see an arrow next to the top 10 farmers at any point in time.  Reset is tonight, and at present, the top farmer has over 650 points.  Completing an entire round of Coffee House Orders will boost your points but I would imagine that being at the very top will require the use of cash to refresh Daily Order Board and Boat Orders.

Note here that each Guest Order filled gives 1 Point, so you will obtain Points even if you cannot fill every Order.  I was inviting Guests daily before this and sending them away instantly on occasion simply to obtain more Essence, but now there is an added incentive actually to fill them.

Other features of the update are a Search function for your Gift Box, (long overdue!), Snow backgrounds and falling snow (available in Settings), some reduction in the Island tasks in Missions that require sales of specific items, and an upcoming 'Flying Bird' Activity Stage Activity.
