Snow Flight Quest and Snowball Maker Mission

A new 11 day traditional Quest has been released in tandem with a Collection Mission.  You will need the Highland Cattle to complete this Collection Mission, and as the Tree is not a premium tree, the drop rate will be low.  For me, it takes about 30 harvests to collect the required item with a non premium tree.  The Highland Cattle is a premium Animal, sold for 15 RC in the Market.

As for the Farm Beauty Contest, it is much appreciated if you send votes to HM. Freyashawk.  I have kept inactive neighbours, hoping for their return, but at this point, am going to delete a few who have not played for two years or more.  There is no hope that my farm will rank in the top 10 unless neighbours of Rosewood Sanctum or Asgard vote instead for HM. Freyashawk.  So if you vote for either of those farms because you are not a neighbour of Freyashawk, please send them a message to become a neighbour of Freyashawk.  Obviously, if you vote for some one either than those two, I would not ask you to send votes to Freyashawk instead, but those two farms belong to my family, and they are fine without extra votes.

Aquarium Tips

The Aquarium is a mini-game that must be accessed by unlocking the 6th plot in the Resort.  I have wriiten about this in an earlier post, but will add a few tips here.

Essentially, the number of fish you can purchase is linked to the upgades of your Aquarium, but it is bizarre that you can purchase more than the declared total.

The maximum number of fish that you can have in your Aquarium when fully expanded should be 30.  If you have 30 fish, you will not be able to purchase more.

If, however, you decrease the number in the tank to 29, you can use the Lottery option to purchase 10 more for a total of 39.  This is the option to:

Get 10 Fish for 900 Coins.

The fish in the Lottery are random, and can include Rare fish.  It is only through purchase using the Lottery option or breeding existing rare fish that you can acquire more rare fish.

Ordinary fish breed only more ordinary fish, and macimum level fir these is 3.  Rare fish should be bred only to other rare fish, and maximum level is 5.

You can borrow one rare fish from a buddy each day for missions.

You can release fish you do not want by pressing on the icon of the fish in the Fish menu, or you can breed two fish who are mature to decrease the total and possibly improve the level of the fish you have.  For example, two Level 2 Fish can be bred to obtain randomly another Level 2 Fish or a Level 3 Fish.

You can earn Aquarium Coins to buy fish or use in the Exchange by participating in the Fish Missions.  These are generated randomly like the Daily Orders, and you can refresh a mission three times each day without cost if you cannot perform a specific Mission.

Senior Citizen's Day Quest and Comfy Slippers Collection Mission

Every fortnight on Friday, a new 11 day Quest is released in tandem with a Collection Mission.  Today we have the 'Senior Citizen's Day Quest with a Collection Mission to collect 'Comfy Slippers'.  The Reward for the Collection Mission is a new Collectable in the form of a Haskap Berry Shrub.

Note that the Pancake Maker Machine is required both for the Collection Mission and for a task in the traditional Quest sequence.  This is a new Machine that can be purchased in the Market.  It has an RC price, but I suggest that players purchase it.  When any new premium Animals or Machines are used in any timed Quest, you have to realise it will be used again in the future.

Note from Freyashawk:  I am struggling a little to keep this site updated with all of the new options in the game.  I am a little disturbed by the increased cost to players in terms of new premium items as well as labour and farm aid intensive timed Quests and Activities.  The Scene Renovation Activities are particularly brutal, and the need to complete those within a limited time frame drain resources that I once was able to use for the 11 day Quests like this one.  I therefore am required to spend money on more Fertilisers and Weather aids constantly, and this programme is not sustainable financially at this point.  Please understand if I cannot update as quickly as I once did for this reason as well as ongoing health issues.  I am deeply grateful to all the friends I have made in my seven years on Seaside and their continuing good wishes, prayers and emotional support.  It is this now, rather than the game itself, that inspires me to continue to try to help by updating my site.  I am very grateful for the votes HM. Freyashawk receives as well, because for me this does demonstrate faith in my work, but I am not certain I am worthy of this any longer.

I do intend to update the Aquarium post because I have more information and more details now about the whole business.

Aquarium Tips

What I will write here to share quickly is that your Aquarium limit does not affect your ability to purchase MORE fish than the Aquarium technically allows.  I thought it was a glitch originally so did not share this information, but evidently it is built deliberately into the game.  If your Aquarium is 'full', you cannot purchase additional fish, but reduce your total by one fish only and you can use the Lottery to purchase 10 fish for the price of 9.  In other words, if your capacity is the maxium of 30, you will be unable to purchase even 1 more fish, but reduce the number in the tank to 29, and you can use the Lottery to purchase TEN more fish for 900 coins.  This will create a situation where there are 39 fish in your tank, and evidently this is allowed by the game itself.

The game tries to force players to breed fish by giving each fish a limited number of missions it can perform.  This number is displayed on the top bar beneath the icon of the fish, which shows both the total that fish originally was allocated as well as the number of missions that remain.  Once that number is reduced to zero, that fish becomes unusable for you.  It still can be used by your Buddies, however.  There are two issues here that annoy me.  First, the only fish that can reach Levels 4 and 5 are the 'rare' fish like the Cake, Cupcake, Doughnut and Hot Dog fish.  These are acquired as Level 3 Fish, and it is only through breeding them that you even have a chance of obtaining the next level.  In other words, breeding two rare Level 3 Fish can give you either a Level 3 Fish or a Level 4 fish.  Breeding two rare Level 4 fish either can give you one Level 4 Fish or one Level 5 Fish.  The rare fish are allocated more Missions than other fish, but ultimately their ability to perform will be reduced to zero.  It is here that you either simply give up and keep them for your Buddies' use or you sacrifice TWO Level 4 or Level 5 fish in order to gain ONE new Level 4 or Level 5 fish.  To me, that is a little depressing, but it is the way of the Aquarium.

Note here that the only Fish that are available for breeding are those who have reached maximum Stamina.  This is shown in the lower bar beneath the icon of the actual Fish and maximum is different for each Level.  Level 3 fish have a maxium of 500.  Level 4 fish have a maximum of 800 and Level 5 have a maximum of 1200.  Fish that have not reached their maximum must be fed in order to increase Stamina.  There are specific foods that can be fed to your fish.  The Crops that are included in the wheel feeding menu are worth 50 Stamina.  It is the Cooked Dishes and Machine products that are worth 100 Stamina.  There is some talk of 'favourite' dishes for specific rare fish, but I am not including that information here.  Suffice it to say that it is better to use the items that are worth 100 Stamina to maximise the Stamina of your Fish so that you can breed them.  No matter which Fish you breed, it is a transaction of two for one.  In other words, you lose both parents and gain one new fish.  I only breed rare fish with other rare fish.  I do not know if any one ever received a new rare fish using only one rare parent, but to me it is not worth the price.  Better to breed two rare fish which will guarantee that you receive a new RARE fish, even if the Level you receive may be the same as that of the parents, but does have a CHANCE of being the next level as well.

The Decorations that you can buy in the Fish Shop incidentally are NOT for the Aquarium.  They are mainly for the Island, although there is one that is for the Resort.   The Baa Baa Statue must be placed in the Resort.   These Decorations can be registered in the Gallery. 

Finally, there are two ways to reduce the population of your Aquarium.  One is by breeding two fish to obtain one fish.  The other is by selling them directly from the Fish menu.  Go to the actual Fish Menu that displays all of the fish currently in your Aquarium and hold down your finger on any fish there.  A minus sign will appear next to every fish you can sell.  The ones you cannot sell are any fish that currently are involved in Missions, so try to organise this when you have completed any or all of your Missions for the day.  The reason why you may wish to reduce your total is only if you are at full capacity and you would like to buy 10 more fish using the Lottery.  As previously indicated, you only need to be one fish below maximum to be able to buy 10 new fish for 900 Aquarium Coins.  This is true for players who have not upgraded the Aquarium to 30 as well as those who have.  Players with a capacity of 25 need only reduce their total to 24 to be able to increase their population by 10 new fish.
