Strategies for Quest Completion
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
As always nowadays, the real problem in completing the traditional Quest sequence with any speed is the limit to Power. You are given 30 Power and time will replenish any Power that you use. When you look at the tasks, however, you will see that 30 Power is nothing compared to the amount needed in some cases to complete a single step. For example, as early as Teahouse II, you are required to prepare 20 Sunrise Porridge and 20 Bean Stew with Crumbly. Each of these Recipes has two ingredients, both of which are dishes created in the Kitchen. Actually, Orange Crumble requires Batter as one of its ingredients, another dish made in the Kitchen. If you do not have any of these stored in your Barn at the time of the Quest, you will need a total of 140 Power to complete Teahouse II alone!
Cleaning Gift Bags randomly contain Power as well as other useful items such as OP. If you save these for a 'rainy day', eg. a timed Quest or Mission, you should have a few extra Power in your Gift Box. Making basic Dishes such as Cornmeal, Batter, Condensed Milk, Cake Flour and so on, and storing them in your Barn will help as well.
Family Farm Seaside has become more difficult in terms of saving Power, however, in that the Cooking Stand Quests require the preparation and sale of 200 Dishes from the Kitchen at every stage. You will have to balance this need against the need for Power in the Teahouse Quest in order to succeed at both in the time frame allocated to each Farmer.
Note that you can obtain some extra Power by registering certain Items now as well. Registrationn of Animals tends to give a Reward in the form of Power, while registration of Trees gives Watering Cans and registration of Machines gives OP. The amount that you obtain of any of these depends on the specific item that is registered. Only one Item of any type can be registered. In other words, if you happen to have four Holstein Cows, only registration of the first is possible.
If you do not have the Cooked Dishes that are required as Ingredients for Dishes needed to complete one of the Teahouse tasks, try to make these Dishes when you are involved in a task or tasks that does not need Power. Plan ahead a little.
I find it difficult to maintain space for Machines now, even with the largest Farm expansion. Although I hate to store Decorations that can be cleaned, timed Quests often require this sacrifice as tasks tend to be associated with Machine Products as well as Animal Products.
I have learned NEVER to sell anything from my Barn if it is not mandated by a Daily Order or Quest. Sooner or later, I will find that every item is needed.
Speaking of Items that are needed for Tasks, the Collections Mission will require a large number of Tomatoes for the Ketchup and Blueberries and Honey for the Blueberry Jam. Remember that Blueberries can be requested as a Free Gift if you lack sufficient quantities. Tomatoes unfortunately are not in the Gift List but you do need to harvest 40 of them for Teahouse I. Carrots are the Crop that randomly yields the Orange Macarons in this particular Collections Mission.
Sugar is an Item that will be required in some quantity for use as an Ingredient both in the Kitchen and in Machines. You will need 20 Sugar to make the Coconut Milk that is one of the Ingredients in the Lavender Cupcakes required in the course of the Quest sequence as well as 60 Sugar for use in the Candy Machine to make Blueberry Candy.
You do have 11 days from the release of any timed Quest or Mission to complete it, so there is no real urgency here, but some players like myself, prefer to move forward as quickly as possible. One of my own reasons for doing so is the unreliability both of my system (rather old) and internet connection. I try to complete these Quests as early as possible in case I lose the connection.
As you will need the Rewards from the Collections Mission in order to complete the traditional Quest sequence, it is a good idea to complete that as quickly as possible. The Grapefruit Tree, needed in Teahouse IV, can be purchased for 8 RC in the Market, but you will need the Teahouse Decoration in Teahouse VI.
