Whether you choose to complete the Collections Mission first or perform Cat-Well-Soon Parts 1-7 before completing the Collections Mission as Cat-Well-Soon 8 requires placement of the Catmint Bush, the fact is that you MUST complete the Collections Mission if you want the Catmint Bush because the Reward is a Collectable that does not appear currently in the Market. You can choose to skip the task of placement for 10 RC and then skip the tasks that require the Catmint if you prefer, but it probably is better to 'bite the bullet' as it were and forge ahead with the Collections Mission.
You will need some Premium Trees in order to perform all the Tasks in the traditional Quest sequence as well as the Collections Mission. For the Collections Mission, you will need a Walnut Tree. For the traditional Quest sequence, you will need a Mango Tree, a Hazel Tree and every type of Chocolate. You can collect Dark Chocolate from a Chocolate Fountain instead of having a Dark Chocolate Tree but you really will need all of these trees again and again, unlike some of the premium Trees that are used in only one or two Recipes. The Hazel Tree is linked to two different current sale offers, and is required frequently in Family Farm Seaside. You can purchase it with the Egg Statue or with the Flower Pot Bunny.
ALL of the Trees that are needed are being offered in the current sale. You can buy a Walnut Tree with the Egged In Bunny (a Theme Decoration), and you can buy a Dark Chocolate Tree with the Egg Statue, another Theme Decoration. Finally, the other DIY offer for the Flower Pot Bunny (a Theme Decoration) gives you the option to purchase either a Mango Tree, a White Chocolate Tree or a Dark Chocolate Tree.
You will need some seafood ingredients as well, including six Hairtails and six Scallops. Unfortunately, you will need 3 Pearls as well. These are a bonus item received randomly when processing Scallops. If you have them in your Barn, so much the better. If not, you may obtain a couple when you process the six Scallops. They only take a couple of minutes to process in the Seafood House, so even the most impatient player should be able to wait to see if any Pearls emerge.
Apart from these premium items, there are items you can produce in advance for use in tasks. One of these is 50 Duck Eggs. Feed a Green Duck Oats to produce Duck Eggs. You will need these for a task that requires you to make 50 Mayonnaise. Ingredients that are needed for Tasks and that can be made in advance include Soft Dough (you will make a few as a Task but you will need far more) and Caramel Honey Sauce. Soft Dough is made with 1 Cake Flour and 1 Batter and Caramel Honey Sauce is made with 1 Caramel and 2 Honey.
The second half of the Quest sequence, as usual, has a few Tasks that require access to the Island. You will need to have unlocked both the Helicopter Pad and the Botanic Garden by performing the appropriate expansions. You will need 480 Dev Points to unlock Barley, a Crop you will need to harvest, and you will need 2 Star Mastery of the Watermill to be able to produce Barley Flour, another Island Task in the second half of the Quest sequence.

A major update was released yesterday that includes three new Buildings inter alia as well as a host of other improvements and modifications to the game. The post below this one discusses the new buildings in detail.

When you fish with any specific hook now, you will see the number of each item that you have in your barn listed next to the icon for that item. This will help with any task that requires a specific number of a seafood item as well as general restocking of your Barn.
Buddy Visit Improvement

You still can perform a total of 5 regular actions on Crops or Trees, including fertilising, harvesting and watering as before, but AFTER this, you can choose to use your own Farm Aids. I believe the number of times that you can do this depends on your Buddy Level with the Farmer you are visiting. It does not apply evidently to Neighbours who are not Buddies as I do not see the option when I visit them.
The Easter Picnic Base

The Base can be purchased in the Market for 3000 Coins. It has a Charm Point value of 24 but it will have to be completed before that value is applied. The materials to complete it are purchased with Festival Mystrons. You will earn 10 Festival Mystrons for each of the first 8 parts of the current Quest. You will earn 15 Festival Mystrons for each of the parts in the second half of the Cat-Well-Soon Quest that you complete. The methods by which you can earn Festival Mystrons will change every week. This week, you can earn them from the current Quest, from voting in the Farm Beauty Contest (when you collect the Gold Treasure Chest afterwards) and from your own Vote Rewards in the Farm Beauty Contest (when you collect them each day after receiving all YOUR Votes).
Each of the Materials for the Base costs 60 Festival Mystrons. You only can purchase one of each type of Material per day, so the best strategy would be to do that if you are able in the interest of early completion of the Base.
