Uncle Carlos Treasure Island

'Troubled Uncle Carlos'

This is something new.  You have five days to complete the first leg of it once you start.  Essentially, Uncle Carlos begins as a Stranger.  The more you do, the better the relatuonship.  By earning Hearts with him, you make progress.

In the course of this adventure, you will use Energy and Diamonds.  Whatever you have saved from the last Treasure Island will be diminished.  I have used over 3000 Energy and 90 Diamonds to reach the point where I have unlocked the Yacon Crop for Seaside.

Note that any Yacon you harvest on Seaside will not be available for use on the island.

If you have not saved any Energy or Diamonds, it might be difficult to perform the 5 day Quest without spending cash.  You will have 100 Energy that refreshes over time, but to upgrade the Dew Collector, you either needs Golden Tools or Diamonds.

To write this walkthrough, I used Energy and Diamonds without opening any gift boxes so I could make a record of the total.  It was 3,740 Energy.  There were no gift boxes containing Diamonds.  I think a few of the gift boxes were in the areas unlocked by clearing Magic Fog.

Note that maximum Energy you can recover by waiting is 100.   It takes 2 minites to revover 1 Energy point.

I do recommend upgrading the Dew Collector to Level 2, even if you must pay 60 Diamonds if you do not have the 2 sets of Golden Tools used to clear the Magic Fog to obtain the necessary materials for the upgrade.  At Level 2, the Dew Collector appears to be on a 10 minute timer for the collection that requires 20 Energy.  My strategy would be to obtain most of the Dew required via the Dew Collector.

There are two separate paths for Rewards.  The first is the 5 day limited one.  The second, above it, is the Main Quest Reward path.

For the 5 day quest, the Rewards are all Farm Aids and at the end, 1 Banana Tree.
They are 20 Super Fertiliser, 20 Super Watering Can, 75 OP, 1 RC and a Banana Tree.

Actually, I wish the devs had explained better as it really does not matter if you complete the quest in 5 days.  You can carry on until it is complete.  You simply will not earn any of the 'time limited' rewards you failed to completw.  You will receive the important toolboxes by completing the quest, however long it takes.
Thus, you do not need to spend RC or cash on this if you do not care about receiving the farm aids or a banana tree!

The real advantage to completing the Quest is to earn the Toolboxes that can be used to increase capaciy of the rooms in the Tree Nursery or the Warehouse.

The Remodelling Workshop that uses the Toolboxes is part of the same building that is rhe Paint Stand.  Tap the Toolbox icon on the top left to access upgrade options.

For the Main Quest, you will receive a series of Uncle Carlos Toolkits, and when you complete the first Reward, unlock his Remodelling Workshop as the Main Quest Reward.  He is now an Acquaintance with 1 Heart.

By using 3 Toolboxes, every room in my Tree Nursery now has two more slots.

Note that Energy and Diamonds from a previous Treasure Island are available for use.

1. Clear Grass: requires 9 Energy (earn 1 Heart)

This will increase Dew Collection from 5 to 10
This gives it 1 Star.

This is the last task and completing it raises Hearts to five for position of 'Confidant'.  I think it should be 'Confidante' but never mind.

3773 Energy at the end. After opening all Gift Boxes, 7513.
I did not pay for all the Golden Tool areas, but I did pay a total of 150 Diamonds for Golden Tools to upgrade the Machines to 2 Stars.  I wonder if it was worth the cost.

Unanswered Questions:  will any of these Workshops be used again or will every flashback island be separate?
