As of Friday, 27 April, a new Activity Stage activity can be found... the new location of the Activity Stage is at the top of your farm, to the right of the Gallery.
You have 7 and a half days from the time of posting this to complete the activity. The final Reward is the Bunny with a Mushroom Decoration. It is stackable and gives a Purple Gift Box when cleaned. It can be stacked on the Green Base.
For this activity, you will activate a series of tasks by using a Wand. You receive one Wand every day. You can purchase another Wand before reset by paying 2 RC.
N.B. You can perform the tasks in any order... I have given arbitrary numbers to each star set.
WARNING: Once activated, you must complete all three tasks within the space of 2 hours before the option expires. If you complete only one or two, you will be forced to do them all again.
For those Farmers who have access to the Fishery, refrain from casting a net if you intend to complete all the tasks now!

King's Day Market Quest and Crown Balloons Collection Mission

Hard on the heels of the new update, the usual 11 day Friday Quest and Collection Mission have been released. If you are playing on Kindle and game did not update automatically, you may need to update from App Store before you will be able to access this Quest. It appeared on Kindle before it appeared on IOS.

Binding your Farm to Google Play:

Another new feature of the update, which should be very attractive to many players is the ability to bind your farm to Google Play instead of Facebook or Game Centre. I suggested this to FunPlus a long time ago and am very glad it finally has been implemented, as some of Facebook's regulations are tiresome.

Recipe for Tompouce

The following recipe uses American measurements I believe. Unfortunately, I have not been able to make it myself.
Ingredients:
For the Pastry Cream:
2 cups of Milk
1 Vanilla Bean
3/4 cup of Sugar
4 Egg Yolks (save the Egg Whites)
2 Tablespoons of Flour
1 Envelope of Gelatine
For the Puff Pastry:
2 square sheets of Puff Pastry (9 inches)
For the Royal Icing:
1 Egg White
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 cups of Powdered Sugar
Decorations:
You can add flags or Orange colour
Instructions:
Add milk to saucepan with the Vanilla Bean, stir well. Add half of the Sugar and bring the milk to a boil.
Whisk the other half of the Sugar with the Egg Yolks in a bowl and then add the flour, stirring well. Pour a little of the warm milk mixture into the bowl, mix will and then add the contents of the bowl to the saucepan carefully and gradually, always stirring.
Boil everything gently (at lowest temperature) for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
Turn off the cooker and add the gelatine.
Pour the mixture into a square dish, cover with plastic wrap and place it in the fridge for 2 to 3 hours.
Take the Puff Pastry, thawing first if frozen and then pricking the sheets repeatedly with a fork.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and bake the pastry for 20 minutes, pressing the dough with a clean towel every 5 minutes. If you do not do this, the pastry will puff too much for this dish.
After 20 minutes, reduce oven temperature to 300 degrees and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
Remove pastry from oven and cut into 16 equal squares. While the pastry cools, make the Royal Icing as follows:
Combine egg white with vanilla extract until frothy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue beating until you have stiff peaks.
You should have a total of 32 squares of pastry. Decorate 16 of these with the icing. Take the filling from the fridge and spread on the other 16 squares of pastry. Add the top layer with the Royal Icing to each.
Further decorate with the flag of the Netherlands or whatever else takes your fancy.

Update including Darryl's House and new Sea Resort Levels and Expansions
The new update includes the addition of Darryl's House, a sort of playhouse or 'Wendy House' where you can purchase and place a variety of furniture items as well as changing floor and wallpaper, more importantly, new Sea Resort expansions in the form of Levels 9 through 11 and finally the requirements for the new 32 x 32 Seaside Farm Expansion. I have added the requirements for the new Passenger Seats on the Sea Plane as well. The ability to bind your farm to Google Play is a welcome improvement.

Another new feature of the update, which should be very attractive to many players is the ability to bind your farm to Google Play instead of Facebook or Game Centre. I suggested this to FunPlus a long time ago and am very glad it finally has been implemented, as some of Facebook's regulations are tiresome.
Darryl's House

Darryl's House is a new option that exists next to the original Building Area on your Seaside Farm. There are a total of four plots that are allocated to Darryl's House. It is located between the Building Area and the Gallery.
By completing Darryl's House, you will meet new requirements for a Seaside Farm expansion but beyond this, you will receive two gifts per day from the House and Darryl. One is based on the Level you have for Darryl's House and is a gift box below the actual House. The other is obtained by accessing the interior of the House and tapping on the gift bag over Darryl's head. Both will be available once daily at reset.
Tap on the unfinished House to obtain the first expansion. The only requirement is:
Reach Level 23.
Once the house is built, you will be required to look in the wardrobe for clothing changes. He has a pair of jim jams.
You then need to place a Bed, which you will find in a new building called the Furniture Warehouse. Here you can obtain furniture for the House.
To unlock the 2nd area:
Have 10 House Points
Save and use 10000 Coins to unlock the area
Use 30 Lily to unlock the area

How to Decorate Darryl's House

The Key to the House, whether to buy new furniture, move existing furniture or to store items is the little Furniture Warehouse building. Access that by tapping on it at any time and you should see a Move tool at the top right of the screen as well as the Shop tabs at the bottom.
You earn House Points by buying and placing new items. Please look at the Furniture Warehouse Menu to see all House Point values for each type of furniture. The RC furniture is worth more than the Coin price furniture for the most part.
Note that certain types of furniture have a maximum limit for the points you can obtain by purchasing and placing them. For example, you can have a maximum of 9 Chairs of any kind that will count for points.
Storing and Moving Items

To store or move any item IN the House, use the Move Tool by tapping on it. A new Tool Menu will open allowing you to move it, turn it, leave it where it stands and finally store it.
Actually, if you simply wish to move or store items, you can use the regular Move Tool in the general Farm Tool Menu to move or store any items in Darryl's House provided only that you have opened the House to display the interior.
It is when you wish to retrieve stored items from the Furniture Warehouse that you must access the actual Furniture Warehouse Building.
Significance of House Points

Your House Point total is linked to some other options in the game. Having a total of 60 House Points is a requirement for the new and largest expansion of the Seaside Farm.
Your House Point total is linked to the new Furnishing Level shown to the right of the Furniture Warehouse. When you tap on it, you should see a timer and a gift. The list of 'Possible Rewards' becomes more comprehensive when your Furnishing Level increases. At Level 8, for example, you can receive the following:
Coins, TC, Super Fertiliser, (some item that will not load at the moment), Super Watering Can, Gasoline (Petrol), Lucky Wheel Tokens
60 House Points will give you a Furnishing Level of 6. The biggest difference between Level 6 and Level 8 Rewards is regular Organic Fertiliser and Watering Cans instead of the more potent varieties.
125 House Points are required to reach Level 9.
160 House Points are required to reach Level 10.
Level 9 does not give different Rewards from those given at Level 8 but you may receive a slightly larger number of Rewards. The Rewards are not that significant at any level.
I raised my Furnishing Level to 9 only to be able to write this guide. It was a waste of RC really... you cannot purchase enough Coins items to reach the point total needed and in fact, the House now is stupidly overcrowded.
To reach the higher levels, however, you must spend RC. At this point in time, the highest House Point total NEEDED is 60. This may change!
Note on 20 May: With the addition of the Wedding Theme, you now can raise your total House Point level to 11 and possibly even 12 if you buy two of the Flower Petal Shooters, each worth 15 points.
The Effect of Storing Furniture

Your Furnishing Level and House Point total depends on the furnishings actually in your House. When you store any item, your House Points may be affected. Bear this in mind. I have a sneaking suspicion that they may add a new Category to the Farm Beauty Contest in the future that is based on Darryl's House.
How the System Works

Every item of furniture that can be placed in Darryl's House, apart from 'Special Furniture' has a point value and a category in which it belongs. Every category allows a specific number of items of that type to be counted towards house point total. If you exceed the total number of items allowed, placement of further items in THAT category will not add to your House Point total and therefore will not serve to increase your House Level.
Perhaps it is easiest if I give an example.
If you open the House Menu, either for the Furniture Store or the Furniture Warehouse, you should see a little window at the top left of the screen. This will give you your current House Level with the total number of House Points you have and beneath it, a category of furniture with the maximum number of items in that category that will count.
The first category is Chairs and the maximum allowed is 9, which if you have placed 9, will display a notification of: Max Counted: 9/9.
Two sub-categories to the right is Beds. You will see that you are allowed a total of 2 Beds. The Standard Bed with which you start only has a House Point value of 2. If it is placed currently in your House, only one more Bed will be counted. If you placed the Fancy Blue Bed you obtained as a Quest Reward for the original Darryl House quests, you will have a total of 6 points from that Bed plus the 2 Points for the Standard Bed. That gives you a total of 8 points for Beds.
All other Beds that you can obtain have higher values than this but if you place them in addition to the two mentioned, you will not raise your House Point total. By removing the Standard Bed and the Fancy Blue Bed and placing two of the Beds that have a House Point value of 15 each, you will be given credit for 20 House Points instead of 8.
How to Retrieve Stored Items

When you access the Furniture Warehouse, you will see a little icon of a Warehouse above the Shop Menu. It will show the Furniture Store by default. Tap on it to change that to Furniture Warehouse and you will have access to any items you have stored.

If you do not put him to bed permanently (ha ha!), Darryl will be on a sort of endless pacing manoeuvre throughout the day and night with little icons over his head that indicate various tips and notifications. Again, not really that significant in value, but I suppose every item helps a little.

The first tab is Holiday Retreat giving the total Sea Resort Points needed to reach the next Level. Prior to the update, if you had reached Level 8, all this tab would show would be MAX Level 8. Now it appears to start players with 400000 Points. A total of 650000 Points is needed to reach Level 9.
The second tab is the Resort Boutique. You will see a note to the effect that the current Max Resort Level is 11 and your current accumulated Resort Points will be Points you earned after reaching Level 8 but PRIOR to the update.
These old Points can be used only to purchase Boutique Decorations in this shop. In other words, if you do not have the update yet, the Sea Resort points you are earning can be used only to buy Decorations.
New Boutique Requirement

If you had reached Level 8 BEFORE the update, you will have the use of all 'Accumulated Points' after the Level 8 total was reached. New Seaside Farm Expansion

Angora Velvet is produced by the Angora Rabbit using the Level 5 Angora Velvet Gadget but the Rabbit must be fed Fruit Platter, not Carrots. You can use Goldfinger to produce Angora Velvet even if you not have the Fruit Platter Gadget. You do NOT need to produce any new Angora Velvet if you have stored 500 bundles in your Barn previously.
New Economy Seats on Sea Plane

How Sea Level Points are Used

The first tab is Holiday Retreat giving the total Sea Resort Points needed to reach the next Level. Prior to the update, if you had reached Level 8, all this tab would show would be MAX Level 8. Now it appears to start players with 400000 Points. A total of 650000 Points is needed to reach Level 9.
The second tab is the Resort Boutique. You will see a note to the effect that the current Max Resort Level is 11 and your current accumulated Resort Points will be Points you earned after reaching Level 8 but PRIOR to the update.
These old Points can be used only to purchase Boutique Decorations in this shop. In other words, if you do not have the update yet, the Sea Resort points you are earning can be used only to buy Decorations.
New Boutique Requirement

If you had reached Level 8 BEFORE the update, you will have the use of all 'Accumulated Points' after the Level 8 total was reached. If, however, you did not reach Level 8 before the update, you now must attain the new maximum Level 11 before you will begin to accumulate any points that can be used for the Sea Resort Boutique.
New Seaside Farm Expansion

Have 60 House Points in Darryl's House
Save and use 6000000 Coins to buy expansion
Produce 500 bundles of Angora Velvet to buy the expansion
Angora Velvet is produced by the Angora Rabbit using the Level 5 Angora Velvet Gadget but the Rabbit must be fed Fruit Platter, not Carrots. You can use Goldfinger to produce Angora Velvet even if you not have the Fruit Platter Gadget. You do NOT need to produce any new Angora Velvet if you have stored 500 bundles in your Barn previously.
New Economy Seats on Sea Plane

When you complete the Level 10 Expansion, you unlock the Paradise.

For the 2nd upgrade to the Paradise Restaurant, you will need:
30 Turkey Sausage (27 TC each if you do not wish to make them)

50 White Wine Crab (no option to skip)
50 Macadamia Salad (no option to skip)

For the 3rd upgrade to the Paradise Restaurant, you will need:

This is the final upgrade. The same rules apply here as to the other shops in the Sea Resort. With all three upgrades, you will have four slots for a single item in your initial Showcase. Unlock the 2nd Showcase when you sell a total of 3 items. The third by selling 297 and the fourth by selling 500.

Wonderfarm Quest and Festival Balloons Collection Mission

A new 11 day quest has been released in tandem with a Collection Mission. The reward for the Collection Mission is the Hot Maple Ice Cream Recipe, a Stove House Recipe.

A new Farm Beauty Contest began on Friday, 6 April. This post is designed to allow you to gain as many Votes as possible from the four characters by maximising your own Farm to achieve the highest number of Votes in every Category.

Little Red Riding Hood Farm Beauty Contest

The current Farm Beauty Contest is given the title of 'Little Red Riding Hood'. As usual, the NEW premium decorations offered in the special sales at the top right of the screen are worth more in terms of votes for Theme than any others as follows:

Two of the Bases are Theme items:

The Green Base is a theme decoration Once completed and registered, however, it should be able to boost your Votes for Theme by 6 Votes each day if you are not at maximum!
The Green Base itself was given by Felicia with the first material in a Message in the game (6 Branch).
The Stackable Decorations for this new base are as follows:
Position 1: Dwarf in a Pot or Clover Wood Barrel or The Wolf
Position 2: Dwarf with Beer or Teddy Bear in a T-Shirt or Little Red Riding Hood
Position 3: Rainbow Arch or Spring Vine, Astonished Bird or Acorn Pine
Position 4: Spring Grass or Pond Lawn
Note that The Wolf, Little Red Riding Hood, Astonished Bird and Acorn Pine are all Theme items in this Contest.
The second Base that is a Theme item is the Easter Picnic Base. If you do not have it, you can buy the unfinished Base in the Decorations section of the Market and complete it by paying 20 RC in the Daily Deals for a bag that contains ALL materials.
OBTAINING THE REWARD DECORATION

You need a total of 4000 Votes by the end of the Contest to receive the significant reward which is the Decoration. Almost any farmer should be able to maximise the Votes of the 4 Characters to obtain this even without a single vote from a Neighbour. You basically need a total of 200 Votes per day.
VOTE CATEGORY CHANGES

There are two significant changes from former Contests that became active in the last Contest. The first is the addition of Pets as a Vote category for Grandma in the form of 'pets with fancy equipment'. The second is a decrease in the totals for the Levels required for Dad's Vote for 'high level farm'.
Pet Category

The total number of Votes that can be given by Grandma for Pets is 12. Equipment (the collars, scarves and bow ties and so on) that you forge in the Factory each count for 1 Vote. Apparel counts for the other Votes and it does not matter if it is premium Apparel or Temporary Apparel or even duplicate Apparel. All will count equally. A Buddy Pet does NOT count. That was a glitch.
PETS MUST BE OUTSIDE THE PET HOUSE TO COUNT!
In other words, to gain 12 Votes from Grandma each day for the Pet Category, you need a total of 4 Pets, each wearing a piece of equipment and 2 pieces of apparel.
High Level Farms

This has changed a few times through the years but I only know for certain that Freyashawk at Level 117 received 15/18 votes for 'high level farm' from Dad. This was NOT the case in the other Farm Beauty Contests. At Level 145, another player received 18/18 but I believe the actual level requirement for maximum votes in this category is much lower.
Basic Rules

It is your current photograph of your Farm or 'snapshot' that determines the Votes from the 4 Characters in the game every day. In previous Contests, a Theme decoration often would be counted if it had been placed on the Farm, even if it had not been registered yet. I think now it is a good idea to register all theme items as quickly as possible.
Balance and variety always is the key in these contests. You need a variety of Crops, Animals, Trees, Machines and Theme Decorations on your farm to maximise the votes from the 4 Characters. If you design your Farm for maximum votes from the 4 Characters, you should not need ANY Votes from your Neighbours to obtain the Theme Decoration Reward that requires a total of 4000 Votes by the end of the Contest.
Duplicates never have counted where Crops, Trees, Animals, Machines and Decorations are concerned. I doubt that has changed. The only change really is that duplicates of Pet Equipment and Apparel DO count.

Have at least 16 different Crops on your Farm to obtain maximum Votes from Darryl for 'variety of Crops'. You may need less but Crops are easy to plant. They do not have to be mature when you take the photo to count.

Try to have 16 different types of Trees ON YOUR FARM when you take the photograph. Trees in the Tree Nursery will not be counted. Again, you may need fewer than 16 types but it does not hurt to be safe to obtain maximum votes from Grandma for 'enough Trees'.
Animals

Beehives and Butterfly Houses as well as the Bat House are considered Animals so every different TYPE of Beehive or Butterfly House counts but duplicates of any type of Animal do NOT Count. You should not need a total of 16 different types of Animal to obtain maximum votes from Felicia for Animals but again, if you have 16, use them.
Machines

In Contests in the past, you only needed a total of 12 different machines to obtain maximum Votes from Dad for Machines but this may have changed. Players claimed that the Salad Machine gave 2 Votes instead of 1, but never confirmed that. In any case, duplicates do not count and if you can cram 16 onto your Farm before you take the photo, better to be safe than sorry.
Expansion

Both Felicia and Dad give Votes for 'Big Farms'. The good news is that you do not need many expansions on your original farm to obtain 16/16 from each of them. A farmer who does not have even the 23 x 23 Expansion will obtain maximum 16/16 votes in this category!
Theme

Only Grandma does not vote for Theme, so you have Theme Votes from three out of four farm characters. The Theme List always can be found in the little Red Book in the Farm Beauty Contest Menu. I will include a list below as well with the price of each Decoration if you can purchase it and how to do so in each case.

Both Darryl and Grandma give Votes for Gallery... furthermore, you obtain rewards from the Gallery when you register any item.
Landscape

'Beautiful Paths' is the term for your Landscape Point total. As three of the four Characters vote for this Category, it is a very good idea to have Paths on your Farm and place as many Decorations as possible within their 'sphere of influence'. I have covered the details of Paths and Landscaping elsewhere on this site. The better the Path, the more points you receive when Decorations are placed next to it or near it. The Macaron Path, Pebble Path and Snow Path each are worth 50 Landscape Points. The Snow Path no longer is available but the other two can be purchased in the Paths Menu for 1 RC each. The Wooden Path is worth 35 Landscape Points and costs 50000 Coins. Next best is the Forest Path worth 25 Landscape Points with a price of 15000 Coins. If you have Buddies, however, they can send Forest Paths and Stone and Flower Paths to you. To send, go to the Special Gifts Buddy Menu. You can send a Stone and Flower Path to a Buddy for 4000 Coins and a Forest Path for 12000 Coins. You actually can send a Macaron Path to a Buddy for 1 RC. There are Buddy Level requirements for sending some of the Special Gifts.
Remember that Landscape Point total is the total of the value of ALL the Paths PLUS the Decorations that are close enough to those Paths to boost Points.
In the past, you needed less than 2300 Landscape Points to achieve maximum... not certain what the current requirement is but here are some farmers who have less than that and their results in the current contest:
1059 Landscape Points: 16/24 Votes
1421 Landscape Points: 19/24 Votes
1484 Landscape Points: 20/24 Votes
1720 Landscape Points: 21/24 Votes
How to Maximise Landscape Points

First of all, you will not be able to move any Paths or perhaps even set any new Paths now if you have Pets roaming about your Farm. You must place all of them in the Pet House before you can set new Paths or move existing Paths, including Water Paths as well as those on the land.
Remember that placement of Decorations and Bases is everything. A Decoration or Base will give additional Landscape Points only if it is placed near a Path that has not used its maximum number of Points yet. For example, the Macaron Path can give a boost of 50 Landscape Points when Decorations are placed close to it. Once that amount is reached, however, piling more Decorations or Bases near it counts for nothing. Use the Move Tool to hover over various spots to see how your Landscape Points will be affected.
Pet Category

This is a new Category and only Grandma votes for it. To gain 12 Votes from Grandma each day for the Pet Category, you need a total of 4 Pets, each wearing a piece of equipment and 2 pieces of apparel. A Buddy Pet on your Farm at the time you take your photograph will NOT count. That was a temporary glitch.
You can purchase apparel for a temporary period in order to take a snapshot that will give you more Votes for this category.
High Level Farm

Only Dad gives votes for a 'high level farm'. At Level 117, Harvest Moon FDC received only 11 Votes for this category in previous contests but now is receiving 15/18.
