N.B. Sadly, the end of the Quest story is counterproductive. However beautiful the Maslenitsa is, she must be burned or the effects of Winter (Death in ancient terms) will not end! You cannot simply make her into a Scarecrow... Mind you, I myself would be loathe to burn a beautiful straw figure. Furthermore, I think it is wonderful the the developers of Family Farm Seaside are introducing Players to all sorts of international customs, festivals and Recipes. It is one of the reasons I like this game so much.

Strategies for Completing these Quests
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
If you like to prepare in advance, you will notice that an enormous quantity of Blueberries will be required to complete both the Collection Mission and the Quest sequence. Blueberry Jam is featured in both. Fortunately, Blueberries are a short-term Crop, requiring only three hours to mature. Furthermore, they are one of the Items on the Free Gifts List, so if you wish to collect sufficient Blueberries for the Blueberry Jam, you may wish to request some Blueberries from your Neighbours as well as growing them.
It is best to focus on the Collections Mission first as you will need the Final Rewards in the form of the Sorbus Tree and the Matrioshka Doll in order to complete the traditional Quest sequence. Part V of Maslenitsa requires that you place the Sorbus Tree on your Farm. Part VI requires the placement of the darling Matrioshka Doll.
The amount of Power that you are given is 30, which means that it can be very helpful to make 'basic' Recipes well in advance. Whenever there are no ongoing Quests, I try to make Cake Flour, Batter and Soft Dough on a regular basis. You will need all three in the Maslenitsa Quest sequence. Milk is an ingredient in a number of Basic Recipes. It is another Item that can be requested as a Free Gift from Neighbours.
Other Items that can be prepared in advance include 50 Wheat Bread for use in making Veggie Burgers and 40 Cherry Jam.
Many Decorations, including the Matrioshka Doll that is one of the Rewards for completing the Matrioshka Collections Mission can be 'cleaned' each day by your Neighbours when they visit your Farm. You will receive Cleaning Gift Bags of different colours depending on the Decorations that you have placed on your Farm. These Gift Bags randomly contain Power as well as OP or Coins. The OP and Power can be quite useful when there is a time-restricted Quest like this one. You will notice that there are quite a few Cooked Dishes in the Quest sequence. Each Dish that you make in the Kitchen requires 1 Power to complete. As there is a maximum of 30 Power when you access your Kitchen and you may need more than that to complete a step in the Quest sequence, I save the Power found in my Cleaning Gift Bags for time-restricted Missions.
As you can see from the Quest sequence, there are new Recipes in the Kitchen as well:

The Tradition of Maslenitsa
****************************
I personally am delighted by the way in which Family Farm and Family Farm Seaside includes ancient traditions and festivals in the game. The tradition of Maslenitsa is a very ancient one and can be found throughout ancient Europe. The figure of Maslenitsa, made of straw, sometimes is male and sometimes female. In all cases, it represents the Spirit of Winter or Death and, after being taken through the village or from house to house, either is placed on a bonfire and set aflame or drowned in the river or any body of water.
In some cases, the ashes from the fire are buried in the fields to bring fertility to the land. The figure, as previously described, can be either male or female, old or young, depending upon the culture and locaiton of the festival. It often is celebrated before or during the Lenten season.
The specific festival of Maslenitsa in old Russia occurred before the start of Lent and included the preparation and consumption of special foods made from dairy products that could not be eaten during Lent. Pancakes or Crepes were made from Eggs, Butter and Milk. When Lady Maslenitsa is thrown on the bonfire, any Crepes or Blini that have not been eaten are thrown on the fire with her. Her more ancient name was Kostroma. As the symbol of Winter, her 'death' is a sacrifice to bring back the light and allow the land to regain its life. The festival has been incorporated into Christian custom, however, and is very much a part of the cycle of Lenten observance like Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday.
