A Dragon's Legend Time-Restricted Quests

A Dragon's Legend

This Quest sequence is based upon the legend of the Wawel Dragon, an old Polish tale that is connected with the founding of the city of Krakow.  A statue of the Wawel Dragon, belching real flames, is one of the attractions of modern Krakow.  It stands at the entrance to the Dragon's Den, a natural cave in Wawel Hill.

As usual, the time-restricted Quest is a double-pronged Mission.  Placing the Dragon's Cave allows the Farmer to collect Crowns from 'all kinds of crops, trees, animals and machines'.

You can upgrade the Dragon's Cave using Torches and Stalagmites.  Torches can be requested from Neighbours.  Stalagmites can be redeemed with Crowns.  The upgrade to Level 5 allows double collection of Crowns randomly from any item.  It is only when you wish to upgrade from Level 4 to Level 5 that you will be required to spend 5 RC on a Dragon Egg as well as using 10 Torches and 5 Stalagmites.  In other words, for all other upgrades, the materials can be obtained either from Neighbour Requests or by redeeming Crowns for Stalagmites.

The Four ordinary Prizes that can be redeemed with Crowns are:

Stalagmites:  Used to upgrade the Dragon's Cave
These cost 1 Crown, irrespective of how many you redeem.

Wawal Dragon: a Total of 5, one of which must be placed on your Farm to complete a sequence in the Quest

Green Mystron
Can be used in the Mystery Shop as currency
A total of 100 can be redeemed

30 OP
A Total of 30 can be redeemed

You must redeem one of each Prize to unlock the final Prize in the form of a Wild Rose Tree which will cost 150 Crowns.  The Wild Rose Tree produces Wild Rose Fruits that are needed to complete one of the sequences in the Quest

The second element is a traditional sequence of Quests in the form of 'A Dragon's Legend'.

I was cleaning my room last night when I found something fantastic, a very old book about Polish legends.  One of them is about a dragon!  Let's make a snack and drinks.  A good book requires good food!

Find this in the Market for 500 Coins

Produce 20 Glasses of Cherry Juice

Produce 40 Cheddar Cheese
  Skip for 20 RC

One day the kingdom's peaceful life was ruined by the appearance of an evil monster the Wawel Dragon!  The scary dragon demanded daily supplies of fresh meat, otherwise it would breathe fire and destroy everything!

The dragon was very picky.  He didn't like the beef.  The desperate king promised the hand of his daughter and half of the kingdom to a brave knight who would get rid of the monster.  Let's try giving the dragon some other kinds of meat.

Harvest 50 Rice
  Skip for 25 RC

Produce 50 Turkey Burger

While all of the kingdom's farmers worked hard to feed the dragon's appetite, great warriors from near and far came to fight the beast.  Let's provide them some weapons to defeat the monster.

Produce 50 Eggs to throw at the Dragon
  Skip for 22 RC

Harvest 8 Wild Roses from Wild Rose Bush
  Skip for 8 RC*

*This solution is entirely counterproductive as you can purchase a Wild Rose Bush in the Market for 8 RC if you are too impatient to wait to redeem it as the final Reward for Crown Collection with 150 Crowns.

Collect 12 Wooden Swords from your Neighbours
  Skip for 12 RC

Reward: 100 Coins, 20 XP

Thanks for your help, but it looks like the beast is not scared at all!  What should we do?

When all hope was lost, a poor cobbler came before the king and suggested an interesting solution.  'What if we can convince the dragon to try other kinds of food?  Maybe we can try to give him a lamb that's stuffed with veggies.'

Harvest 50 Tomatoes

Produce 50 Veggie Burgers

Harvest 5 Bananas

Reward: 110 Coins, 22 XP

The suspicious dragon sniffed the lamb and gobbled it down in just one bite!  He seemed quite satisfied and demanded more!

The cobbler quickly started to prepare other dishes.  If the dragon would become a vegetarian, the kingdom would be saved and the cobbler would marry the princess!  Why don't we help him a little bit?

Produce 60 Buffalo Milk Cheese

It worked!  The dragon fell in love with healthy, vegetarian dishes and never asked for meat again!

Strategies for Success
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The time-limited Quest runs for a total of 11 Days, irrespective of the day when you begin the first step in the sequence.  You therefore should begin as soon as possible.  The first priority as always is to complete the Collections Quest.  Time-restricted Collections Quests fall into two different categories.  In the first, you can collect a special item from ANY Crop, Tree, Animal or Machine randomly.  In the second, you can collect four different variations of a single item randomly from specific Crops, Animals, Trees or Machines.  You must obtain a specific number of each of the four variations.  The Crowns Collection Quest falls into the first category which is easier to achieve than the second.

The final Reward or Rewards in any Collection Quest usually are required to complete one or more steps in the traditional sequence of Quests.  This one is no exception.  You will need the Wild Rose Bush in order to harvest Wild Rose Fruit from it in Part V of 'A Dragon's Legend'.  The Wild Rose Bush actually can be purchased from the Market for 8 RC as well as being the final Reward that must be unlocked in the Dragon Cave by obtaining one of each of the four initial prizes and then collecting a total of 150 Crowns to redeem the Tree itself.  You therefore can opt to buy the Tree or wait until you have unlocked it, collected 150 Crowns to redeem it from the Dragon Cave.  The other item required in the Quest sequence is a Wawel Dragon.  This is one of the initial four Prizes in the Dragon Cave.

If you do not wish to spend RC on this Quest combination, your priority should be to collect Crowns as you will not be able to continue past Part IV until you redeem the Wild Rose Bush.  Even while you are focusing on this aspect of the Quest, however, you can make the traditional sequence easier by cooking Dishes that are ingredients for required Dishes.  Among these are Soft Dough, Cake Flour, Butter, Batter and Cottage Cheese.  Remember always that you have a total of 30 Power in the Kitchen.  You can augment this from Gift Cleaning Bags that contain 1 Power each or purchase more Power in the Market, but it is best to plan ahead and make all possible ingredients before they are needed.

There are other 'ingredients' that are produced by Machines or Animals.  These include Sugar, Wheat Bread, Milk and Buffalo Milk.  Remember that you can collect Crowns randomly from ANY Animal or Machine as well as Crops and Trees.  Setting out Machines to produce needed ingredients therefore has a subsidiary benefit in aiding the completion of your Collections Quest.

The Original Legend of the Wawel Dragon
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The tale of the Wawel Dragon is very much a part of the story of the founding of the city of Krakow in Poland.  Wawel is the site of Wawel Castle at a bend in the Vistula River.  Long ago, during the reign of King Krak, for whom the city of Krakow is named, a fearsome dragon terrorised the land.   Like most of his kind, he belched flames that destroyed crops and trees.  His enormous appetite for meat decimated the livestock.  His presence was a terrible curse and the King at last offered the hand of his daughter to the man who could rid the land of the beast.

Many brave warriors and knights responded to the summons but all failed and lost their lives to the dragon.  Finally, a young shoemaker appeared.  He had neither armour nor weapons but only the tools of his trade in the form of a needle and twine.  The people were disposed to mock him but he quietly asked for a lambskin, some sulpher, pitch and mustard seed.

When he received the items he had requested, he filled the lambskin with the sulpher, pitch and mustard seed.  With consummate dexterity, he then sewed it together so that it resembled a live lamb.  He placed it on the bank of the river, then waited for the arrival of the dragon.

The dragon lurched out of a cave in the hill, breathing fire.  The rumbling of his stomach sounded like thunder.  He had slept through the day and was famished.  As soon as he spied the lamb on the bank of the river, he gobbled it whole.  Much to his distress, he found that the meal did not agree with him.  He went to the river to drink, hoping that the water would calm his aching belly.  Instead, filled with the mixture of sulpher, pitch, mustard seed and water, the dragon exploded.

The young cobbler became the hero of the land and King Krak honoured his promise to give his daughter's hand to the lad in marriage.  The farmers no longer feared for their crops, trees and livestock and the wedding feast lasted for many a night and a day.  My own great-great-great-great-great grandmother danced at the wedding and wore out a dozen pairs of dancing slippers.
