New Upgraders

There are two new Upgraders in the Market. In the Animal Department, you will find the Angora Rabbit Upgrader for 4000 Coins. In the Machine Department, you will find a Juice Machine Upgrader for 3000 Coins.
Remember that the system has changed to allow Batch Production for any Machine or Animal on an Upgrader. Originally this was not possible.
Extra Product Gadgets

Note that there are two different Gadgets for each Upgrader that will yield extra product. One costs RC and is found in the regular Market. The other costs Red Mystrons and is found in the Red Mystron Shop. You receive only 1 extra product when the Red Mystron Container is on the Upgrader but you do not have to pay RC for that gadget.
Upgraders 101

Do you need to purchase and use the Upgraders that increasingly appear in the Market? At this point in time, they have not been mandatory for any time-restricted Mission, unlike the Pet System, where the use of Pets to open a specific number of Chests has been added to task lists on occasion.
Upgraders basically were designed like the Bases for stackable items. Rather than being Decorations, they are 'gadgets' with different effects when they are placed on the Upgrader.
Every Upgrader has its own list of Gadgets. Some allow greater production of existing products but others allow creation of special new products. Every Gadget is level-based which means that you have to have the Upgrader upgraded to the Level of the Gadget before you can place and use it on that Upgrader.
Upgrader Footprint

In games, the size of any item is its 'Footprint'. The Upgrader's size changes with each new level. This can create significant problems when you attempt to upgrade any Upgrader if you do not have sufficient space for the new size or Footprint.
Tool Menu

To see the Tool Menu of any Upgrader or Base, first choose the 'Move' tool from the Main Menu. While the Upgrader is in 'Move' Mode, you will have access to the Upgrader Tool Menu. The most significant Tools are the 'Search' Tool (displayed as a Magnifying Glass) and the Upgrade Tool (displayed as an Expansion icon in the form of a House on a green square with two arrows pointing to southwest and southeast).
While the Upgrader is in Move Mode, choose the Search Tool to see all possible Gadgets that can be placed on the Upgrader. Each will have a designated position, similar to the Positions allocated to Stackable Decorations on any Base.

Note that all Gadgets and Theme items can be registered in your Gallery and each has a specific Charm Point value, although Charm Points are no longer that important in Seaside except insofar as they boost Landscape Points when placed within the influence of a Path.

Jam Machine Upgrader

Another addition is the Jam Machine Upgrader.
All Upgraders are found in the Market in a tab marked upgrader. The Jam Machine Upgrader is found in the Machine department and costs 3000 Coins. Place it on your farm and then place your Jam Machine on it using the Jigsaw puzzle icon in the Move Tools Menu. You then must satisfy the requirements to upgrade the Upgrader.
Upgraders are limited in their use. You cannot use Batch Production on a Machine or Animal when it is placed on an Upgrader. Extra Product Gadgets do not work with Goldfinger. You can use OP to speed individual production by paying 10 OP for each but I always considered that a bit wasteful myself.
To upgrade it to Level 1:

The Upgraders are similar to Bases. You need to first choose the Move tool and then the jigsaw icon to place the proper item (Animal or Machine) on its Upgrader.

Warning about Upgraders

The basic Upgrader takes more space on your Farm than the item it houses, whether it is the Holstein Cow or the Cheese Master. Unfortunately, each progressive upgrade of an Upgrader is larger, requiring more space. If you have no clear space on your farm and you upgrade an Upgrader, you may see the horrible situation shown in the photo above.
This is a photo of the Level Editor. The game will force you into it when any situation arises where the items on your Farm do not all have a space to be placed. You then will be forced to sell something before the Menu will close. The easiest solution is to sell some plots and then move items about until you can place the Item that caused the problem. In this case, as previously indicated, it was the upgrade of an upgrader that required more space than the original.
It is a very good idea to keep some vacant space on your farm always to avoid this situation. Harvest Moon FDC and Rosewood Farms now are so overcrowded that I have experienced this nightmare situation on both farms. Try to avoid it if you can!

Farm Renovation Quest and Paint Rollers Collections Mission

Note: There are new Pirate items for your Boat in the Boat Shop on the Island. They do appear randomly like any other boat items, so be patient. Prices and list given at the end of this post.

A new time-restricted quest has been released in tandem with a Collections Mission. The reward for completion of the Collections Mission is a White Mulberry Tree, the first new tree to be released in some time. As the Reward is a Tree, you can opt out of the Collections Mission if you choose to do so to purchase it instead in the Market for 9 RC.
Premium Items: You will need the new White Mulberry Tree, a Brazil Nut Tree, A Red Currant Bush and Macadamia Nut Tree, inter alia. One task on the Island requires the Dehydrator. To skip it will cost 30 RC, so if you are not in a position to pay 30 RC or to build a Dehydrator, you will not be able to complete the second half of the Quest at this time. Remember that many of the time-restricted Quests now can be accessed from the Lighthouse at any time. The Rewards for the Collection Set when completed after the expiration of the Quest will NOT include the Clam Friendship Flower but you should be able to collect all other Rewards, so do not despair.

There was a time when I thought I never would use all my Milk or Honey or Cheddar Cheese, but recently, between the Quests, the Guests and the other activities and tasks required of us, my stock of every basic has dwindled. I feel that low level farmers must be struggling to keep up with these demands. Perhaps we should be sending Milk and Honey to every one on a regular basis again!

There is a request for 20 Painting Trays from Neighbours and you will be required to use the new Chat option for the request. I asked for the item four times and received 20 within 5 minutes, a very different experience from previous attempts in the recent past. The option appears to work now.
Collection Set

The Collection Set this time consists of three different decorations. You must register Wedding Chair A, Wedding Chair B and the Cat Painter in order to claim the rewards, including 1 Clam Friendship Flower, 88 Green Mystrons and 1 RC.
Note that Wedding Chair A and Wedding Chair B now appear in the Decorations section of the Market as well where each will cost 3 RC. If you are looking for a BIG Wedding and need more than 6 Chairs for the guests, you will be happy to see that you can purchase as many as you please! For many of us, however, space is at a premium on our farms and 6 Chairs will be more than sufficient. Although the two different types of Wedding Chairs can be stacked on the finished Wedding Base, they cannot be cleaned. They do have 4 Charm Points each, although Charm is only relevant now in terms of Landscape Points.

New Farm Wedding Farm Beauty Contest

One of the least understood aspects of Family Farm Seaside is the Farm Beauty Contest. Farmers often do not use their own items to maximise the votes they receive daily from the four Characters. Before you think in terms of help from other farmers, please make certain that you have done everything possible to get the votes from the 4 Characters.
The Farm Beauty Contest is unlocked when you reach Level 30 now. At that point, you will see a golden icon of a Trophy in the middle of the top of the screen. You will be able to vote three times for a neighbour each day.
Remember that you need 200 Votes per day to obtain the Decoration as a Reward. Start on the first day by organising your farm and you should be able to do it without any votes from others if you are diligent.
For maximum votes, you first need to balance your Farm. Have 16 DIFFERENT Crops planted, have at least 12 DIFFERENT Animals, 12 DIFFERENT Machines and 12 DIFFERENT types of Trees on your Farm. You may need 13 different types of Animals and Machines and Trees but players have reported maximum votes with only 12. The numbers change from time to time. What you should know is that Beehives and Butterfly Houses are considered Animals and each different type will count towards your total. The Crops need not be mature to count.
Landscape Points took the place of Charm Points when the Guest House and Pet option were introduced to the game. Even low level players should be able to place sufficient paths with Decorations to achieve maximum in terms of Landscape Points. You do NOT need 5000 Landscape Points nor even 3000... you can obtain the maximum number of Votes for Landscape I believe with as low as 2300 Landscape Points. This was true in the last contest. I will confirm for this one, but with 3000 Landscape Points, you definitely will achieve maximum votes for 'beautiful paths'. (24/24 from THREE Characters)
Note that in some cases, you need not register the Decoration in order for it to count towards your Theme votes. It does have to be in your current snapshot, however, so make certain that your farm is designed for maximum votes BEFORE you take the photograph.
Some low level farmers have reported the following:
With 442 Landscape Points, you get 9/24. With 775 Landscape Points, you get 13/24 votes for Landscape Points. With 1169 Points, you get 17/24 votes for Landscape. With 1500, you get 18/24.
Easy Theme Points: Make certain that you purchase and register the three different pieces of Carpet in the Decorations section of the Market (east costs 1500 Coins), buy and register the Wedding Carpet for 1 RC and purchase and register the Wedding Chair for 12000 Coins BEFORE you take your initial photograph for the Contest. If you really want the Avatar, buy the Bride Mouse for 9 extra votes per day from the Characters. You will find her in the special sales offers. Note that you will receive 3 Wedding Carpets when you complete the first half of the Quest sequence but if you wish to maximise your Theme immediately, you can purchase and register one from the Market.

Before you think in terms of help from other farmers, please make certain that you have done everything possible to get the votes from the 4 Characters.
The Farm Beauty Contest is unlocked when you reach Level 30 now. At that point, you will see a golden icon of a Trophy in the middle of the top of the screen. You will be able to vote three times for a neighbour each day.
Remember that you need 200 Votes per day to obtain the Decoration as a Reward. Start on the first day by organising your farm and you should be able to do it without any votes from others if you are diligent.
For maximum votes, you first need to balance your Farm. Have 16 DIFFERENT Crops planted, have at least 12 DIFFERENT Animals, 12 DIFFERENT Machines and 12 DIFFERENT types of Trees on your Farm. You may need 13 different types of Animals and Machines and Trees but players have reported maximum votes with only 12. The numbers change from time to time. What you should know is that Beehives and Butterfly Houses are considered Animals and each different type will count towards your total. The Crops need not be mature to count.
Landscape Points took the place of Charm Points when the Guest House and Pet option were introduced to the game. Even low level players should be able to place sufficient paths with Decorations to achieve maximum in terms of Landscape Points. You do NOT need 5000 Landscape Points nor even 3000... you can obtain the maximum number of Votes for Landscape I believe with as low as 2300 Landscape Points. This was true in the last contest. I will confirm for this one, but with 3000 Landscape Points, you definitely will achieve maximum votes for 'beautiful paths'. (24/24 from THREE Characters)
Note that in some cases, you need not register the Decoration in order for it to count towards your Theme votes. It does have to be in your current snapshot, however, so make certain that your farm is designed for maximum votes BEFORE you take the photograph.
Some low level farmers have reported the following:
With 442 Landscape Points, you get 9/24. With 775 Landscape Points, you get 13/24 votes for Landscape Points. With 1169 Points, you get 17/24 votes for Landscape. With 1500, you get 18/24.
Easy Theme Points: Make certain that you purchase and register the three different pieces of Carpet in the Decorations section of the Market (east costs 1500 Coins), buy and register the Wedding Carpet for 1 RC and purchase and register the Wedding Chair for 12000 Coins BEFORE you take your initial photograph for the Contest. Farmer Regatta Quest and Anchors Collection Mission and Farm Wedding Beauty Contest
Note: Last updated on Friday, 12 May. The unfinished Wedding Base as well as 8 of the first material needed for the Base is being given by Felicia in your Messages menu. Place it and take a new Screenshot to have it counted as a Theme Decoration even though incomplete. The game states that you should receive 2 Votes from each of the three Characters who value Theme for the Wedding Base. The special sale offers currently include a Bride Mouse, a theme item in the current Farm Wedding Farm Beauty Contest. You will find a section about the current Farm Wedding Beauty Contest at the end of this post.

I am quite happy to share my work with every player but please, please do give Freyashawk credit if you use the information on this site in your Facebook Group or anywhere else. I work hard and spend premium cash to log these quests quickly.
You will need a Hot Dog Machine to complete the Collection Set, which also includes a Butternut Squash Tree and the Seashell Chest Decoration that is the Reward for this Quest. Completing it within the time period of the Quest will give you an additional reward in the form of a Clam Friendship Flower.
The reward for the Anchors Collection Mission is another Stove House Recipe in the form of the Spinach Lasagna Recipe.
Spinach Lasagna Recipe: Requires 1 Pasta, 3 Buffalo Milk Cheese, 1 Spinach Salad and 7 Power. Menu states that it requires 20 minutes to cook but there are two separate Stars that can be activated for this Dish. At 2800 Flavour Points, you will achieve a Bronze Star Spinach Lasagna and at 4200 Flavour Points, you achieve a Blue Star Spinach Lasagna. If you put all ingredients in the Oven at the same time and set the timer for about 9 1/2 minutes, you can finish the dish with a Bronze Star. I think 10 minutes would be the time if you could set the timer quickly, but I am very slow with that. I was not able to make the Blue Star version by placing all ingredients together and setting the timer for 13 minutes, but it almost made it, so if you place the Pasta and Buffalo Milk Cheese in the Oven first, setting the timer for 2 minutes, then add the Spinach Salad and set the timer again for 13 minutes, you will have a Blue Star Spinach Lasagna. The Spinach Salad will reach maximum flavour points at 13 minutes and 20 seconds, which means that is the point where it will burn, causing the dish to fail. The other two ingredients can be cooked for a much longer period but you can achieve the superior dish (not that you need it for anything!) in the form of the Blue Star rating by cooking the Pasta and Buffalo Milk Cheese FIRST for a couple of minutes before adding the Spinach Salad and setting the timer again for 13 minutes. (I really am not that fond of the Stove House personally.)

New Farm Wedding Farm Beauty Contest

One of the least understood aspects of Family Farm Seaside is the Farm Beauty Contest. Farmers often do not use their own items to maximise the votes they receive daily from the four Characters. Before you think in terms of help from other farmers, please make certain that you have done everything possible to get the votes from the 4 Characters.
The Farm Beauty Contest is unlocked when you reach Level 30 now. At that point, you will see a golden icon of a Trophy in the middle of the top of the screen. You will be able to vote three times for a neighbour each day.
Remember that you need 200 Votes per day to obtain the Decoration as a Reward. Start on the first day by organising your farm and you should be able to do it without any votes from others if you are diligent.
For maximum votes, you first need to balance your Farm. Have 16 DIFFERENT Crops planted, have at least 12 DIFFERENT Animals, 12 DIFFERENT Machines and 12 DIFFERENT types of Trees on your Farm. You may need at least 13 different types of Animals and Machines and Trees. The numbers change from time to time. What you should know is that Beehives and Butterfly Houses are considered Animals and each different type will count towards your total. The Crops need not be mature to count.
Landscape Points took the place of Charm Points when the Guest House and Pet option were introduced to the game. Even low level players should be able to place sufficient paths with Decorations to achieve maximum in terms of Landscape Points. You do NOT need 5000 Landscape Points nor even 3000... you can obtain the maximum number of Votes for Landscape I believe with as low as 2300 Landscape Points. This was true in the last contest. I will confirm for this one, but with 3000 Landscape Points, you definitely will achieve maximum votes for 'beautiful paths'. (24/24 from

Note that in some cases, you need not register the Decoration in order for it to count towards your Theme votes. It does have to be in your current snapshot, however, so make certain that your farm is designed for maximum votes BEFORE you take the photograph.
Some low level farmers have reported the following:
With 442 Landscape Points, you get 9/24. With 775 Landscape Points, you get 13/24 votes for Landscape Points. With 1169 Points, you get 17/24 votes for Landscape. With 1500, you get 18/24.
Easy Theme Points: Make certain that you purchase and register the three different pieces of Carpet in the Decorations section of the Market (east costs 1500 Coins), buy and register the Wedding Carpet for 1 RC and purchase and register the Wedding Chair for 12000 Coins BEFORE you take your initial photograph for the Contest. If you really want the Avatar, buy the Bride Mouse for 9 extra votes per day from the Characters. You will find her in the special sales offers. Note that you will receive 3 Wedding Carpets when you complete the first half of the Quest sequence but if you wish to maximise your Theme immediately, you can purchase and register one from the Market.
