Note on 24 May 2018: This post was one of the first I ever made. It never has been updated but it will be an enormous undertaking... I intend to do that in the next few days.
Original Introduction
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
This is a little preliminary strategy guide for the fairly new mobile game called 'Family Farm Seaside'. It is the mobile version of the original 'Family Farm' that is available for free play on Facebook. Like the original game, Family Farm Seaside is free, although players may be tempted to invest real money in the game in order to progress more quickly or to purchase items that are not available unless one is willing to pay 'premium' cash for them.
Posts, such as this one, will deal with strategy, profit margins and return of investments (ROI). Although Item Values will be included insofar as they are relevant, there are actual Pages for this Guide that are devoted to specific elements, including simple lists of Item Values and a list of Quests/Missions.
My earliest love in gaming, apart from a game called 'Claw' that was centred on the adventures of a handsome swashbuckling Pirate Cat Captain from the 17th century, was Harvest Moon. Harvest Moon is a series of games that fall into the category of 'farming simulation' games, although they are much, much more. Harvest Moon is another reality where the player can become a successful farmer and a beloved member of his/her community while experiencing the wonder and joy of courtship, marriage and sometimes childbearing.
I have written hundreds of guides for Harvest Moon games. I always felt that they would be a wonderful educational resource for children because, although one can simply grow the Crops one likes best, considerations of the cost of the Crop, the length of time it takes to mature and the recipes in which it can be used are important. Family Farm and Family Farm Seaside, therefore, remind me of Harvest Moon in that the player either can grow Crops simply on impulse or really take the time and energy to compute the profit earned by each and the pros and cons of giving the Crop either to an Animal as feed or to a machine to create goods.
One of the first challenges is that of earning sufficient coins to be able to replant crops after harvest. Both Family Farm and Family Farm Seaside are based on the concept of an industrial revolution and machinery that allows basic crops and animal products to be transformed into 'finished' goods or more sophisticated food items. Some machines can be purchased with Coins. Others require premium cash.
Often, goods or products made by machine will be more valuable than the raw ingredients used to create them. Few machines use a single ingredient but even the combined value of multiple items used to make products will be less than the value of the actual product.
For example:
The Juice Machine can be used to create a number of different fruit juices. Among these are Apple Juice which sells for 11 Coins. A raw Apple sells for 7 Coins. When you consider that the act of creating a product in a machine gives the XP or Experience Points necessary to advance to the next level, it usually is wise to use items to create products whenever possible.
An example of a product that requires more than one ingredient is Perfume. A Perfume Machine will arrive on your Ranch in finished form. In other words, you will not be required to ask neighbours for materials to build it. It costs 500 Coins and will create a bottle of Perfume in 45 seconds. The first Flower to be unlocked is Lavender. Perfume is a little tricky, however, as Provence Honey is the second ingredient in ANY Perfume recipe. Provence Honey is made from Lavender but you must purchase a Provence Beehive for 25 RC. It takes only 20 seconds for the Bee to create Provence Honey but, should you harvest the Lavender before it is pollinated, no Honey will be made. Lavender whether unpollinated or pollinated is the other ingredient in Lavender Perfume. In a sense, therefore, you are able to use the same Crop twice.
Provence Honey, like ordinary Honey made from Clover is of negligible value by itself. It sells for 6 Coins. A bottle of Lavender Perfume, however, sells for 76 Coins.
A list of Item Values is of great importance in almost any Farming Simulation Game. Remember always that it is not merely the cost of the Seed/Plant/Animal that is significant but the time required for the Crop to mature or for the Tree or Animal to produce a product. The ability of the player to access the game and spend time on it is of significance as well. A Player who can access the game only once or twice per day may have more success with the slow-growing Crops than a Player who is willing and able to access the game many times throughout the day.
Another consideration is the reality of day and night and the need for many Players to sleep. I usually plant fast-growing Crops in the morning and replant them throughout the day if possible. When night approaches, I plant the Crops that take 10 or more hours to mature.
Experience points are the reward for any action undertaken on your Ranch and it is XP that allows the Player to unlock new Items. Another benefit of transforming raw ingredients into finished products, apart from the financial profit, is the acquisition of XP. You gain 1 Point of XP when you plsny a Crop and you can gain 1 Point of XP from the SAME item when you place it in a Machine. Thus, for example, planting Lavender gives you 1 XP. When you place the Lavender in the Perfume Maker, you receive 1 XP. When you place the Provence Honey made from the same Lavender in the Perfume Maker as the second ingredient, you will receive 1 XP as well.
Feeding any Animal will give you 1 XP. Harvesting a Crop or product from any Animal gives no XP. Trees are the same in this respect although they are planted only once. You receive no XP from any harvest from a Tree, but placing the Fruit/Product from that Tree in any Maker will give you 1 XP. Furthermore, you do receive XP when you plant a Tree initially. Planting a Cherry Tree, for example, gives 6 XP.
Making money as a Farmer/Rancher is a slow business at first but one can gain enormously both financially and with respect to XP by completing each of the Quests as they appear on the screen.
Lack of sufficient space always is an issue in Farming Simulation games and Family Farm Seaside is no exception. A Player unlocks new expansions at specific Levels and can 'buy' or 'earn' them by completing three specific requirements, one of which is a Coin total. In most cases, one must make a specific number of Items in a Machine and sometimes sell them as one of the Expansion requirements. You can buy your way out of any requirement by paying a sum of premium Cash.
A cautionary note here: Although in most cases, you can reach the total number of Items needed to complete a Quest even if you sell those items before you reach the necessary total, there are circumstances where the count will be reset to zero is you sell the goods before you reach the goal. If you need coins but are afraid of losing your progress in the quest, it is a good idea to sell 1 product to see if the total is reset afterwards. If not, you can sell as many of the products as you wish and they will continue to count towards the required total.
Note that the same Crop can have more than one use. Most of the Grains serve as Feed for specific Animals and can be ground into Flour of various types in a Mill. One then must make a decision as to whether to use the Crop to make a product or to feed an Animal.
For example, Wheat can be fed to the Sheep to produce Wool. As Wheat Flour, it is one of the three ingredients in any Cake produced by the Cake Machine. How does one decide whether to feed the Sheep or to bake a Cake? The time needed to produce products as well as the Cost of the Items and value of the Products will be included in this Guide.
Every Farmer has a different method of playing any game, even if there are Quests and specific Goals that can be achieved. In Family Farm, there are Quests as well as requirements for Ranch Expansions but a Farmer can ignore these and simply play for fun. It is in the player's benefit, however, to complete Quests as XP and sometimes OP (the energy needed for automation) are earned thereby.
Unfortunately I only decided to write a Guide after I had completed a number of Quests. I would appreciate the help of any player who is interested in filling in the blanks here. The Quests and Missions have been allocated a Page of their own. Pages appear as Tabs above this Guide.
There are two separate sequences of Quests/Missions in Seaside. Quests often are tutorials that serve to introduce Farmers to Crops, Machines, Animals and other aspects of the game. When you complete any Quest, the next Quest in the sequence will be unlocked and will appear on the left side of the screen. You can hide or display Quest icons by clicking on the exclamation point in the top left corner of the screen.
You will notice that you have the option to buy your way out of each of the Requirements in any given Quest for a specific amount of premium Cash or RC. Here it is useful to note that if one is willing to spend Premium Cash to complete Quests, there are better ways of doing it. For example, you can purchase Organice Fertiliser or Super Fertiliser in order to speed the growth process of required Crops.
For example, in the Beef it Up IV Quest, you must Harvest 12 Tomatoes. Tomatoes are a slow-growing Crop that take Hours to mature. Instead of spending 6 RC to skip the step, you could spend 3 RC for 25 portions of Super Fertiliser. A single application of Super Fertiliser will bring a Crop that has been planted a moment earlier to full growth. If you use 12 applications of Super Fertiliser to complete the first step of the Quest, you still will have 13 more applications for use later.
For 1 RC, you could purchase 25 applications of Organic Fertiliser. It requires 4 applications of Organic Fertiliser to bring a Crop that was planted a moment earlier to maturity. Organic Fertiliser is best used to bring a Crop that is almost mature to full maturity in order to complete a requirement or to clear the field for another Crop.
In the same way that Fertiliser speeds the growth of Crops, Watering Cans speed the growth of Fruit on Trees. For 6 RC, you can purchase a Super Watering Can containing 25 applications of Water. 2 RC purchases a Watering Can with 25 applications of Water. The Super Watering Can will bring Fruit on a Tree that has been harvested a moment earlier to full maturity. Like Organic Fertiliser, the regular Watering Can would require 4 applications in the same situation.
Cherry Trees take 12 hours to mature. If the Tree has been harvested recently, the Player probably should use Super Watering Can for a single application. If, however, the Tree needs 8 hours more to mature, three applications of the regular Watering Can rather than the full four applications will ripen the fruit fully.
In practical terms, therefore, instead of spending 6 RC to skip the first step of the Quest and 4 RC to skip the third for a total cost of 10 RC, you can spend 9 RC for a Super Watering Can and Super Fertiliser, use both and still have sufficient applications for another Quest.
Cheddar Cheese is produced in a Cheese Maker from Cow Milk. Cows are fed Clover, a Crop that grows in half an hour. You therefore probably should plant the Clover and simply wait for it to mature naturally in order to complete the second part of the Quest in this example.
There are two separate Quest sequences:

Cow Milk: 22 Coins
A Holstein Cow is a Milk Cow and costs 4500 Coins. When fed Clover, it will produce a bottle of Milk in one Minute. Milk sells for 22 Coins. Note that ordinary Honey is produced from pollinated Clover. Make certain you have a Beehive and wait until the Clover has been pollinated before you harvest it.
Goat Milk: 25 Coins
A White Goat is one of the few Animals that requires Premium Cash. It costs 15 RC to purchase a White Goat. When fed Pasture, it will produce a bottle of Goat Milk in 2 Minutes.
Egg: 88 Coins
To obtain an Egg, you first must purchase a Chicken Coop for 900 Coins. Individual Chickens cost 250 Coins and can be added to the Coop. A Chicken when fed Corn will produce an Egg in 3 Minutes.
Duck Egg: 76 Coins
A Duck Egg is more complicated to obtain than an ordinary Chicken Egg. You must purchase and place Pond Water for either 1500 Coins per square or 1 RC per square of shoreline. You then must purchase a Green Duck Pond for 4000 Coins. Individual Green Ducks then can be purchased for 1 RC each and then added to the Green Duck Pond. When fed Oats, a Green Duck will produce a Duck Egg in 2 Minutes. Duck Eggs can be made into Mayonnaise in the Sauce Machine.
Various Types of Wool:
Angora: 94 Coins
An Angora Rabbit costs 2200 Coins and when fed Carrot, will produce Angora Wool in 1 Minute.
Wool: 62 Coins
A Sheep costs 2600 Coins and when fed Wheat will produce Wool in 1 Minute, 30 Seconds.
Feathers:
Goose Feather: 49 Coins
One needs a Goose Pond in order to have a Goose and like any Aquatic Animal, Pond Water must be purchased and placed before one can buy the Goose Pond. In the case of the Goose, a 3 x 3 configuration of Pond Water is required.
Peacock Feather: 132 Coins
A Peacock costs 5000 Coins, eats Rice and produces Peacock Feathers.
Various Types of Honey:
Honey: 5 Coins
Ordinary Honey can be produced either by an ordinary Beehive or a Super Beehive. The ordinary Beehive costs 2000 Coins and when Clover is mature, will produce Honey in 30 Seconds. The Starline Beehive costs 15 RC (Premium Cash) and produces Honey from Clover in 20 Seconds. In other words, its only real virtue is speed. The Super Beehive can be purchased for 35 RC. The Bees will produce Honey in 20 Seconds from ANY Flower apart from Lavender.
Provence Honey: 6 Coins
Provence Honey requires a Provence Beehive that costs 25 RC. The Bees will produce Provence Honey from mature Lavender in 20 Seconds. I personally believe that this particular Beehive is worth the investment as it is needed for the Perfume Machine.
Meat:
Beef: 20 Coins
Beef is produced by Limousin Cattle when fed Pasture. It takes 1 Minute, 15 Seconds to produce a packet of Beef and the supply evidently is inexhaustible as long as the Animal is fed. In other words, Animals in Family Farm do not die!
Pork: 181 Coins
Unlocked at Level 23
Turkey: 135 Coins
Machine Products:
Bread:
N.B. Bread is made in a Baker, a machine that costs 1400 Coins and creates a loaf in 1 minute, 30 seconds. As with any machine, you can load the ingredients for three finished products at once.
Black Bread: 220 Coins
Ingredients: Rye Flour, Milk, Egg
Corn Bread: 212 Coins
Ingredients: Cornmeal, Milk, Egg
Oat Bread: 182 Coins
Ingredients; Oat Flour, Milk, Egg
Wheat Bread: 193 Coins
Ingredients: Wheat Flour, Milk, Egg
Flour:
Flour is produced by the Mill you will find on your Ranch ab initio. It is a single-ingredient machine and can make three different types of Flour.
Oat Flour: 56 Coins
Use Oat. Cost of Oats is 39 Coins, harvested in 6 Hours.
Rye Flour:
Use Rye. Cost of Rye is 50 Coins, harvested in 14 Hours.
Wheat Flour: 62 Coins
Use Wheat. Cost of Wheat is 43 Coins, harvested in 8 Hours.
N.B. At the start of the game, when Coins are limited, Oat Bread is a wonderful product to make. Keep your Chickens supplied with Corn and your Cow with Clover and grow Oats every six hours. Clover ripens in half an hour and Corn takes only four hours to mature, so you can produce quite a few loaves of Oat Bread in a day with some diligence.
Perfumes:
Perfumes are created in the Perfume Machine that can be purchased for 500 Coins. It takes only 45 Seconds to produce a bottle of Perfume, using Provence Honey and one of the following Flowers:

Buffalo Milk Cheese: 55 Coins
Use Buffalo Milk. A Buffalo costs 2000 Coins and when fed Cucumber, will produce a bottle of Buffalo Milk in 1 Minute, 15 Seconds. The Buffalo Milk sells for 49 Coins. As you can see, Buffalo Milk Cheese is more valuable.
Cheddar Cheese: 23 Coins
Use Cow Milk. A Holstein Cow costs 4500 Coins and when fed Clover, will produce a bottle of Milk in 1 Minute. Milk sells for 22 Coins. The profit made from the production of Cheddar Cheese is minimal, making Buffalo Milk Cheese a better option for the most part.
Goat Cheese: 34 Coins
Use Goat Milk. A White Goat must be purchased with Premium Cash. It coests 15 RC and when fed Pasture, will produce Goat Milk in 2 Minutes. Goat Milk sells for 25 Coins, making the production of Goat Cheese the most profitable of the three, if you are willing to invest real money in the venture!

The value of Sugar is 138 Coins, giving a profit of 33 Coins from the original cost of the Cane used to make it.
The second ingredient in any Sweet made in the Candy Machine is a Fruit. Of all the types of Candy that can be created, there are three made from Crops. All others use Fruit from Trees.
It is difficult to determine the real Profit made when a Product uses a Fruit/Product from a Tree, as the cost of the Tree really cannot be part of the equation, as it is an investment that occurs only once. If one were to be accurate, one would have to count the number of times that the Tree has been harvested. Instead, I have chosen to disregard the original Cost of the Tree and to compute Profit based solely on the Cost of the Sugar that is the second ingredient in any Candy made with Fruit. Where the Candy is made from a Crop, the cost of the Crop HAS been added to the equation.
The Candy that the Candy Machine can make is:
Apple Candy: 176 Coins
An Apple Tree costs 400 Coins and can be harvested every 2 Hours. The value of an Apple is only 7 Coins. The Profit made from Apple Candy is 71 Coins.
Banana Candy: 237 Coins
A Banana Tree costs 5 RC and can be harvested every 22 Hours. The value of a Banana is 35 Coins. The Profit made from Banana Candy is 132 Coins.
Blueberry Candy: 260 Coins
Blueberry is a Crop that costs 85 Coins and takes 3 Hours to mature. It can be sold for 91 Coins, making a profit of 6 Coins. The Profit from selling a piece of Blueberry Candy is 37 Coins.
Grape Candy: 241 Coins
Grape is a Crop that costs 58 Coins and takes 6 Hours to mature. The value of a Grape is 66 Coins, giving a Profit of 8 Coins. Grapes are one of the most versatile Crops in Seaside, as they can be made into Juice, Jam, Wine and Candy. When made into Grape Candy, the Profit will be 45 Coins.
Lychee Candy: 210 Coins
A Lychee Tree costs 880 Coins and produces fruit every 12 Hours. The value of the Lychee Fruit is 18 Coins. When made into Candy, the Profit is 72 Coins.
Orange Candy: 229 Coins
Orange Trees cost 500 Coins and will produce an Orange in 8 Hours. Orange Trees can be requested and sent as Free Gifts. The value of an Orange is 20 Coins. Like the Grape, the Orange is a very versatile Fruit as it can be made into Jam, Juice and Candy. Orange Candy gives a Profit of 91 Coins.
Strawberry Candy: 378 Coins
Strawberry is a Fruit that
Sugar Machine: 9900 Coins
As previously stated, the Sugar Machine is a finished machine, requiring neither RC nor materials from Neighbours. It is a single-ingredient Machine that creates three different types of 'Sugar' as follows:
Sugar: 138 Coins
Ingredient: Cane
Cane costs 105 Coins and takes 12 hours to mature. Cane has a value of 120 Coins, giving a Profit of 15 Coins. When made into Sugar, the Profit increases to 33 Coins.
Maple Sugar: 29 Coins
Ingredient: Maple Syrup
A Maple Tree costs 1400 Coins and takes 9 Hours to mature. Its product is Maple Syrup with a value of 17 Coins. When made into Maple Sugar, its value increases by 12 Coins.
Caramel: 390 Coins
Ingredient: Sugar Beet
Sugar Beet is a Crop that is unlocked at Level 41. It costs 360 Coins and takes 8 Hours to mature. Sugar Beet has a value of 369 Coins, giving a Profit of 9 Coins. When made into Caramel, the Profit increases to 30 Coins.
Flower Packing Machine: 12000 Coins
The Flower Packing Machine is a single ingredient Machine that is unlocked at Level 27. Many of the Flowers that can be processed in the Flower Packing Machine can be used to make Perfume as well. I therefore have given the information about the values and Profit margin for both Items in the description of each Bouquet type. While the Flower Packing Machine is a single ingredient Machine, the Perfume Machine requires Provence Honey as well as the Flower ingredient that defines it. Note, however, that there is no cost involved in the creation of Provence Honey per se, once the Beehive is placed. It is pollination by the Bees that produces the Provence Honey, leaving the ripe Lavender intact in the ground. The actual Lavender Flower then can be harvested and used as a separate ingredient/item.
The following floral Bouquets can be made:
Lavender Bouquet: 70 Coins
Lavender costs 47 Coins and takes 2 Hours to mature. It sells for 51 Coins, giving a Profit of 4 Coins. When made into a Lavender Bouquet, it gives a Profit of 23 Coins.
Lavender is one of the Crops that can be pollinated to make a type of Honey before it is harvested. If you have the Provence Beehive, Lavender will make Provence Honey. Provence Honey is a required ingredient in any Perfume and Lavender can be made into Perfume. Lavender Perfume sells for 76 Coins, making it more valuable than a Lavender Bouquet. You must make certain that you have allowed the Lavender to be pollinated to make the necessary Provence Honey if you wish to make Lavender Perfume.
White Rose Bouquet: 81 Coins
White Rose is unlocked at Level 42. It costs 60 Coins and takes 4 Hours to mature. It has a value of 66 Coins. The Profit for the Bouquet is 21 Coins. The White Rose, like the Pink Rose, cannot be used to make Perfume.
Daisy Bouquet: 52 Coins
Daisy costs 25 Coins, takes 6 Hours to mature and has a value of 34 Coins. The Profit therefore is 18 Coins when made into a Bouquet. Daisy Perfume has a value of 70 Coins
Blue Rose Bouquet: 145 Coins
Blue Rose costs 115 Coins, takes 12 Hours to mature and has a value of 131 Coins. The Profit for Blue Rose Perfume is 30 Coins. Blue Rose Perfume has a value of 180 Coins which makes the Profit 65 Coins.
Red Rose Bouquet: 251 Coins
Red Rose is a flower that can be used to make Perfume as well as a Bouquet. The Crop costs 215 Coins and takes 15 Hours to mature. The Profit for Red Rose Bouquet is 36 Coins. Red Rose Perfume has a value of 290 Coins. Remember, however, that Perfume requires two ingredients, one of which is Provence Honey. Profit from Red Rose Perfume is 75 Coins.
Tulip Bouquet: 158 Coins
Tulip is unlocked at Level 37, costs 105 Coins, takes 22 Hours to mature and has a value of 126 Coins. The Profit for Tulip Bouquet is 53 Coins. Tulip Perfume has a value of 183 Coins, making the Profit 78 Coins.
Pink Rose Bouquet: 218 Coins
Pink Rose is unlocked at Level 44, costs 180 Coins, takes 8 Hours to grow and has a value of 191 Coins. The Profit is 38 Coins. The Pink Rose like the White Rose cannot be made into Perfume.
Lily Bouquet: 319 Coins
Lily is unlocked at Level 46, costs 270 Coins, takes 10 Hours to mature and has a value of 284 Coins. Made into a Bouquet, the Profit is 49 Coins. Lily Perfume has a value of 332 Coins with a Profit of 62 Coins.
Sunflower Bouquet: 369 Coins
Sunflower is unlocked at Level 50, costs 300 Coins, takes 20 Hours to mature and has a value of 323 Coins. Made into a Sunflower Bouquet, the Profit will be 69 Coins. The Sunflower is the only Flower, apart from the White and Pink Roses, that cannot be made into Perfume.
Many of the Flowers that can be made into Bouquets will not be unlocked when you reach Level 27 to unlock the Flower Packing Machine. The Flowers that can be used at that Level are Lavender, Dasy, Blue Rose and Red Rose. The process delivers a Bouquet in 1 Minute, 10 Seconds.
Buildings:
Warehouse: 15000 Coins
The Warehouse may be the only truly essential 'Building' in Family Farm Seaside, as it allows the Player to store Animals, Makers/Machines, other Buildings and Decorations. The cost of the Warehouse is 15000 Coins but it is unfinished when purchased. Rather than requiring materials to complete, it requires three labourers or employees. You can ask your Neighbours to act in these positions or pay 5 RC to fill each of the three positions.
Farm Expansions:
Farm Expansions usually have three requirements. In some cases, a specific building project, such as the Warehouse, must be completed. A specific Level of Experience is required as well. The third requirement can be a specific total of a product, such as Love Cakes. For example, one expansion required that one produce 90 Love Cakes as one of the requirements. A note of warning here: If you intend to satisfy the requirements in order to expand your Ranch using Coins, you apparently have to hoard the required product until the total is reached. In the case of the Love Cakes, for example, selling any that I had produced prior to reaching the total of 90 resulted in the count being reset to zero.
One can pay RC instead of satisfying a product requirement for expansion although the Experience Level requirement cannot be circumvented. One can choose to pay 15 RC instead of making 90 Love Cakes in the case of that particular expansion.
Profits in Farming
Profits must be calculated in terms of the cost of the Crop or Item and the time required to produce it. In the case of finished goods, the cost of the machine really must be ignored as it is too complicated to factor a one-time charge into the equation. The time required to produce a finished good, however, is an important factor in some cases. Remember always that speed may not be the only factor to consider as the size of the ranch will have some bearing on the amount of Crops the Farmer can produce in a given time period.
For example, there are two Animals with similar habits that can be purchased at Level 22. Both eat the same food, e.g. Rice. The two Animals are the Peacock and the Turkey. A Peacock costs 5000 Coins and will produce Feathers that can be sold for 132 Coins in 1 Minute and 30 Seconds. The White Turkey costs 6500 Coins and will produce Turkey Meat that can be sold for 135 Coins in 50 Seconds. One might assume therefore that the Turkey is a better investment but the fact of the matter is that one must look to the size of the Ranch. Rice takes 14 Hours to mature. It costs 95 Coins and sells for 110 Coins as a raw material incidentally.
The Green Duck requires construction of a Pond through the purchase of four lots of Pond Water at 1500 Coins each. Once that is built, the Farmer can purchase a Green Duck Pond containing a single Green Duck for 4000 Coins. The Green Duck eats Oats and produces a Duck Egg worth 76 Coins in 1 Minute. Cost of Oats is 47 Coins and Oats take 6 Hours to mature. If one looks merely at the value of the Crop and the Product produced by the Bird in each case, one would leap to the conclusion that the Turkey is a better investment than the Green Duck. One will be required to wait 14 Hours, however, in order to produce the food that the Bird needs, unless one is using Farm Aids of one sort or another. In 14 Hours, one can harvest Oats twice, making the time difference between the production times of each Bird and its product irrelevant. The actual Profit for one Duck Egg from a Green Duck is 29 Coins. The actual Profit for the Turkey is 40 Coins, but in the same time that a Turkey can produce one parcel of Meat, the Green Duck can produce almost three Eggs. In 42 Hours, you will have precisely 3 parcels of Turkey Meat, with a profit of 120 Coins where, in the same time period, you will have 7 Duck Eggs with a profit of 203 Coins. Your ROI or Return of Investment for Duck Eggs in 42 Hours therefore is almost double that of the Turkey's Meat.
Both Duck Eggs and Turkey Meat can be processed in Machines, enhancing their value. The Duck Egg can be made into Mayonnaise in the Sauce Machine, while the Turkey can be fed into the Burger Machine to make a Turkey Burger. The Sauce Machine is a single-ingredient Machine, which means that the Duck Egg is the only item required to produce Mayonnaise. The Turkey Meat, however, is one of two ingredients in Turkey Burger. The second ingredient is Wheat Bread.
Wheat Bread is made in the Bread Maker using three ingredients: Wheat Flour, Milk and Egg. It sells for 193 Coins. The value of Wheat Flour is 62 Coins, that of Milk is 22 Coins while that of an Egg is 88 Coins. The Value of Wheat is 50 Coins and actual Profit for sale of Wheat is 7 Coins. The Corn that is fed to the Chicken to produce an Egg if sold as a Crop would have a Profit of 7 Coins as well. The Clover given to a Cow to produce Milk if sold as a Crop would have a Profit of 2 Coins. The Profit for making it into Milk therefore would be 20 Coins. For Wheat Flour, the Profit is 12 Coins. The Profit for the Egg is 70 Coins. If one combines the cost of the three Crops used to make the ingredients in Wheat Bread, it would be 134 Coins, making the Profit from Wheat Bread 59 Coins. The cost of Rice is 95 Coins and it is sold for 110 Coins. When fed to a Turkey to produce Turkey Meat, the Meat has a value of 135 Coins as previously indicated. The profit therefore is 40 Coins. A Turkey Burger sells for 424 Coins. The cost of all ingredients required to produce a Turkey Burger is 229 Coins. The profit for a Turkey Burger therefore would be 195 Coins. However, it takes 20 hours to produce one Turkey Burger as Rice takes 20 hours to mature!
The value of Mayonnaise is 96 Coins and the cost of the single ingredient fed to the Duck to produce it ultimately is only 39 Coins, making the profit 57 Coins. As it takes only 6 Hours to produce Oats, however, making Mayonnaise is a way of making a Profit faster than production of the more valuable Turkey Burger.
Another method of processing Turkey Meat is through the Salami Machine, a single ingredient Machine that produces Turkey Sausage that sells for 170 Coins. Here your Profit will be 60 Coins, only 3 Coins more than the Mayonnaise gives in 1/3 of the time.
Actually, many Farmers, including me, choose to vary production and have more than one type of Animal on the Farm and more than one Machine in use at any given time.
This brings me to another consideration, which is the fact that the same Crop feeds more than one Animal or can be used in more than one Machine. Ultimately, the Farmer is limited to the Land he/she possesses and the number of Plots that are on that land.
