Fairy Island Activity

Initially, I believed this Activity to be more farmer friendly than its predecessors, allowing one to make far better progress without spending cash.  I apologise for leading farners down the 'primrose path' of disappointment with that statement.  The Activity begins with success, but becomes as brutal and unforgiving as its predecessors when one reaches 700 Stars.  The amount of materials required becomes absurd and it is simply exhausting to make them in the Workshop.

Note that you do not need to complete all tasks or all that earns Stars to obtain the final Reward.  The game does state that any Energy and Diamonds earned beyond what is required will be available for use in the next Activity of this sort.

I am including a full walkthrough below.  As I did not plan to write a walkthrough originally, I am working from two different farms.  Bear with me!  The full walkthrough is at the end of the post.

Unfortunately, I now have spent most of my RC to create this Walkthrough and still have some way to go.  I simply cannot afford to spend more cash now, so it will take a little longer.  As one progresses, one needs to expend more Energy.  400 Energy does not do much at this point!

Note that I give my own Energy and Diamond totals before and after opening gift boxes rather than doing the maths each time.

Follow the prompts to achieve the best results rather than removing obstacles randomly.

Tip: Always tap the search option in the prompt to fibd yoir way to the precise obstacle you must remove or object you need to build!!!   I made the error in previous games of thinking independently.  Follow orders!!!

In the bottom left is the menu for the Rewards earned with Stars.  Try to complete those tasks in tandem with the prompts if possible.

I found my first Mary's Gift without being forced to search. It actually was partly visible.  It is to the right of a Fairy Stage.

Before, 244 Energy, 137 Diamonds.  After, 444 Energy, 187 Diamonds.

I found my second Mary's Surprise Gift by accessing the little peninsula that resembles an arrow.

Before opening, I had 203 Energy, 3 Diamonds.  After, 403 Energy, 53 Diamonds

New to this Activity are:

Trading Energy:  on the map itself, a crystal above a flower.  Here you can trade Seaside resources for Energy.  Trades are on a timer.  I believe it takes 4 hours to yield the results irrespective of level.

The Trading Energy begins with a 30 Energy capacity.  To upgrade it to Level 2 costs 10 Diamonds.  If you are a low level farmer, it may be best to stay at Level 1 as you may not gave sufficient resources in Seaside for many trades.  

1 Fertiliser trades for 2 Energy

1 Watering can trades for 4 Energy.

Super Fertiliser trades for 6

On my little 2nd farm, I have 544 Energy and 312 Diamonds, so I probably will use 10 to upgrade.  Note that the timer is 4 hours at both levels.

(From another farm: 

At the very start, farmer has 152 Energy and 10 Diamonds.  After building the first bridge, open all boxes.  You should have 272 Energy, 10 Diamonds.  Clear 1 Magic Bush and open boxes. 271 Energy, 10 Diamonds to 391 Energy and 10 Diamonds.  You now can use your golden tools if you wish to build the bridge to the south.)

On the Map, there is a Magic Workshop.  This is new.  Build it to create materials you will need:

You can use Diamonds to add a slot if you wish to produce faster.  I believe the 2nd slot cost 3 Diamonds.  The third costs 5 Diamonds.

Meanwhile, I used 60 Diamonds to build a bridge that required golden tools.  In the area I accessed, I was able to collect the following:

I went there with 275 Energy and 267 Diamonds.  After opening boxes, 880 Energy and 277 Diamonds.   I think this is a better use of Diamonds than speeding up the timers.  I did use Diamonds as well to add a second slot to the Workshop.

I used 90 Diamonds to build a bridge that required 3 of each Golden Tool. 

Before, 27 Energy, 192 Diamonds.  After opening gift boxes, 623 Energy, 227 Diamonds.

I also decided to trade my existing RC for Diamonds instead of spending cash I cannot spare this month.  If you go to the top of the screen, there is an option to trade RC for Diamonds.

60 Diamonds to build a third bridge with golden tools, two of each sort.  I had 258 Energy, 3 Diamonds and after opening the boxes had 733 Energy, 18 Diamonds.

There is another area that requires Golden Tools to clear Magic Fog.  30 Diamonds for 1 tool of each type.  I had 79 Energy. 8 Diamonds.  After, 449 Energy, 38 Diamonds.

(Second farm: 173 252,  after 543 282)

Note that you are given one set of golden tools in your imventory.  You can build a bridge in the middle of the south of the map.  What you receive:

Before: 800 Energy, 322 Diamonds

After: 1060 Energy, 327 Diamonds

Another bridge in the south requires 3 golden tools of each type or 90 Diamonds.

Going there, I had 180 Energy and 3 Diamonds. After opening boxes, 775 Energy, 38 Diamonds 

From there, south there is Magic Fog requiring 2 tools of each type or 60 Diamomds.

N.B.  At this point, there is only the final Reward when I reach 1300 Stars.  There is no Energy or Diamonds to be gained by completing any more tasks, only Stars.  There is one more Mary's Surprise Gift, but no boxes in the next area as far as I can tell.

I chose to cover the Pond.  The rask to build the Fountain remains active but I can open gift boxes now.  

Before: 119 Energy, 3 Diamonds, after: 279 Energy, 3 Diamonds.  Not significant really, but I am one step closer to the area with the 3rd Mary's Surprise Gift.

The requirements for the Fountain are daunting.  There is one more area to access using Golden Tools.  One needs 1 of each, or 30 Diamonds.  I convert RC to Diamomds and cover the Pond.  Before, 49 Energy, 13 Diamonds. After I open all boxes, 329 Energy, 18 Diamonds.  It will be some time before I can build the Fountain.

39.  Clear 1 Mature Heart Fruit Bush

Required :88, 44, 22 Energy .  Now you can see the 3rd Mary's Surprise Gift to the far left.  You will need to clear obstacles to reach it.

I now had 176 Energy, 6 Diamonds

Mary Gift raised it to 376 Energy, 56 Diamonds

When I reached the Fog, I could collect enough Rewards for the final Prizes at 1300 Stars.

After clearing the Magic Fog, one can open boxes in a new area after clearing some grass.   I had 65 Energy, 76 Diamonds.  After, 205 Energy, 76 Diamonds.

I had to use most of my Energy to reach the bridge.

Note, I still get 15 Energy for completing a task.

Energy situation: I upgraded the fountain to Level 3 giving 70 Energy every 4 hours.  What this means is that if you have no Energy saved, you cannot perform this task in one session.

On the bottom right of the screen, there is an icon of a chest that shows your Inventory and next to that, a shopping cart.  Use the shopping cart to access two tabs.  One is for Energy and the second for Diamonds.  The Diamonds here can be purchased with real cash.  There are time-limited 'deals' on the top right of your screen.

Your worst enemy in this activity is impatience.  You have until the 5th of May.  Do not be too quick to opt out of the timers.

A new 11 day Quest and Farm Beauty Contest.

Note the potential issue of the Exhivition Hall with reaoect to the Contest.  Theme items will be vivid in the Book if they are on your farm but grey if in the Exhibition Hall.  Remove them briefly and place them for your screenshot.  It is important to leave some empty space on your farm in case a glitch forces you into Edit mode.  If this occurs, however, close and reload your game, keeping your fingers crossed.  All of my bases came out of Exhibition Hall, game in edit mode and nowhere to place them!!!

Farm Beauty Contest

It is possible to organise your own Farm to get 6000 votes from the four characters but you need to take the best screenshit on the first day.  Look at the book that shows thene items, place them next to paths to maximise landscape totals, have a good variety of crops, trees, animals and machines ON YOUR FARM, make certain you have four pets fully equipped working on the farm and not resting in the Pet House.  These are the requirements to maximise votes.  

To add 9 theme votes daily place the new Romantic Sakura Base on your farm and complete it becore you take your snapshot.

Crazy Fruit Activity

The Crazy Fruit Activity to me seemed simple yet bewildering.  The game instructions as often left gaps in the chain of events that became apparent only when one began to play.  I found it vexing but not worth the trouble of truly analysing it.  I simply shot the balls at the balls identical to them and hoped for the best.

Although you cannot purchase any of the Rewards or add to your points using RC, you can buy Grapefruit tickets with RC to use to play the game.  You can use 1 RC to purchase a bomb or other 'aid' as well.  The value of this is a little random as often the bomb does not improve the total. 

The other way to obtain the Grapefruit tickets you need to olay is by growing the temporaey crops and tree.  They then can be processed for items of greater value.

The develipers unfortunately have found our Achilles Heel which is watering cans.  They look to that by generating more orders for the fruit from the tree than the crops.  It is slightly helpful to plant the meximum numbers of this tree and you can change the order by refreshing it.  Even so, the numbet of watering cans required nowadays can be brutal.

The action is simple: point the fruit gun and shoot.  Now here is where strategy can be employed.  If you shoot at an identical fruit, the two merge to create the next in size.  In other words, two tiny blue fruits create one red fruit.  If you create a formation where the fruits in the circle are perfectly placed to increase gradually, and then shoot the fruit in the gun at the one identical to it, it will generate a chain reaction to blast all the fruits in the chain and merge into the next size larger than the one at the very end.

It is imlortant to understand that some of these fruits only appear through merging.  The smallest of these merged fruits is the 'peach'  that is created with two lemons.  Next there is the orange, created by two peaches.  The other large fruits all must be created through merging.

It sounds simple, but again, paying attention to the order of the fruits in the circle can be helpful.  For example, if you have a tiny blueberry between two lemons, you have two options to improve that:

1.  Shoot another blueberry at it to create an apple, then shoot an apple to create the purple fruit.  Now you have the fruit directly below the lemon in the chain and when you shoot a purple fruit at its mate, a short chain will exist to take the lemon as well.

2.  The second strategy is to leave the blueberry in place, but shoot an apple, the next size of fruit, to its side.

The results are not that different, but creating chains within the circle really is the point of this game, and the longer the chain, the more points you receive when the chain reaction that merges the fruits occurs.

Each round of the game is on a timer, so you do need to make fairly quick decisions.

Note that a chain can be created at either end of the circle, as well as in the middle of all the other fruits.  You do not need to deal solely with the fruit at either end of the circle.

Essentially though, the main thing is to create the largest fruit and if possible, wipe as many off the table with your own chain reaction before the timer expires.  As I wrote at the start, I never really studied it in the past and simply shot at whatever fruit was identical.  

My real issue with an activity like this one is the inabilty to opt out by paying RC for the prizes, and the sheer smount if time required to earn all of the prizes.  Instead of farming, we are playing a merge game.

As previously indicated, you can nake products that are worth more than the original ingredient when exchanged for Grapefruit tickets.

The Bomb and Random Fruit can be purchased for 1 RC and then when you touch either, it will load into the gun taking the place of the fruit there.  So do not do it when the fruit in the gun is useful!

I found little value in the bomb.  The Random Fruit is good for ceearing the largest posdible merge fruit, especially if it then can be used in a chain.  The bomb simply cleara three fruit from the curcle.  Useful I suppose if you are running out of time and three fruit are obstacles to a chain.  For example, if you have two nice dragon fruit in the centre of your circle but there is a blueberry, a lemon, and an apple between them, and little time left, you can use the bomb to get rid of those three, bringing the two dragon fruits together for a merge.  It is better to make those obstacle fruits larger and then make them into their own little chain if you can, but if you do not have sufficient time, the bomb can clear them from the centre of your circle.

Pottery Workshop Quest and Pottery Vase Collection Mission

A new 11 day Quest has been released in tandem with a Collection Mission.  The reward is a Mastic Tree.  Mastic is an ingredient used both in chewing gum and in incense.

You will need the Sandwich Machine for the Vollection Mission.  Registration takes 13 hours, but it is one of the three irems in the Collection Set that gives 1 RC, 88 Green Mystrons, and a Gallery Book Flower Package if all are registered by the end of the Quest period.

I have written a separate post about the Exhibition Hall.  My recommendation to players who receive few visits from neighbours is to place as many fully loaded bases as possible in the Exhibition Hall as all cleanable decorations will give their designated gift boxes every 48 hours without any Neighbour visits.

Exhibition Hall

I would like to wish every reader a very Happy St. Valentine's Day.  There is a very charming new premium Animal in Seaside in the form of the Valentine White Horse who eats Love Fruit and produces Valentine Horse Hair.  These special festive Animals never are required for quests but the product can be requested randomly by a dragon or whatnot.  In any case, the little horse is adorable.   I would like to thank players for their votes always for HM. Freyashawk. I know I am too sentimental about old neighbours who are inactive to get the maximum number of votes nowadays but a part of me still wishes I could be in the top 10.  I was at 11 in the last contest, thanks to all who voted for my farm.  I am grateful!  It makes me feel the work is appreciated, even if I cannot do what I once did.

The latest update offers a new building called the Exhibition Hall.  You do not need to buy or build it.  It will appear to the left of the platform for Darryl's Adventure when your farm rwceives the update.  Updates always are staggered.  I received mine on the second day after it first was released.  The Rewards from the Exhibition Call only are given every 48 hours.

Essentially, you are given 12 slots in the Exhibition Hall at Level 1.  Each slot can hold a decoration or a base or a stacked base.  In this, it differs from the Warehouse where bases and their decorations must be stored separately.

Thus, you can move a fully stacked base from your farm to the Exhibition Hall into one slot and then view it as you did on your farm with the premium animated decorations interacting with one another.  This really is the function of the Exhibition Hall as its name suggests.  

You will receive 1 'Reward' every 48 hours for each slot that has been filled.  You need a total of 60 to upgrade the Exhibition Hall to Level 2.  Note that a fully loaded base consisting of 5 items (base plus 4 decorations) gives only 1 Reward, just like a simple single decoration would.  So do not send fully loaded bases fo the Exhibition House for any Reward.  Do it only if your farm is crowded and you enjoy seeing the animated bases you no longer can for on your farm and would like to be able to move them back to the farm fully loaded when needed.  

The other advantage of the Exhibition Hall is that every decoration stored there will give the appropriate gift box without being cleaned by your neighbours.   You will receive the gift boxes only every 48 hours, unlike those from decorations on your farm or in your warehouse, but the gift boxes are guaranteed when the base or decoration is in the Exhibition Hall.

That really is the purpose of the Exhibition Hall, mainly drsigned for high level players who have purchased every premium item through the years and feel they no longer can enjoy them because their farm is choc a bloc with everything even when fully expanded.

It is useful as well for those farmers who feel they do not receive sufficient visits from their neighbours.

So if you are not one of those farmers, just pop 12 decorations you do not want on your farm in the Exhibition Hall to fill the 12 slots so you can earn 12 Rewards every 48 hours as well as the gift boxes associated with those decorations.  The Rewards are used to upgrade the Exhibition Hall itself.

Other requirements to upgrade to Level 2:

10 Relief Tile (Neighbour Request or pay 1 RC each)

As you can see, with a maximum of 12 Rewards every 48 hours, you cannot upgrade quickly!

Slow as upgrading is, there are options unlocked at higher levels.

There are two 'skins' that rqndomly increase Rewards.

At Level 5, you unlock a new skin that gives a 10% chance of doubling rewards after collecting them.

At Level 9, another new skin that gives a 20% chance of doubling after collecting rewards.

This is very much far in the future at this point!

Note after Collection:  I have 12 fully stacked bases in the Exhibition Hall.  I collected the following:

The decorations' gift boxes appear according to the schedule of when the items were placed in the Exhibition Hall rather than reset time.  As I filled the slots at different times, collection of Rewards and gift boxes was staggered.  I was able to collect more Rewards and gift boxes ultimately when the 48 hour cycle for all 12 was completed.  I verified  with Support that you will receive gift boxes for the decorations and bases in the Exhibition Hall without the action of any neighbour.  I did receive 12 Rewards total.

Upgrade Requirements for Level 6:

I did not log the precise requurements for the first 5 lebels but they did not change much.  The lower quality Cannoli continued to be a matweial needed through Level 5.  At Level 5, a new 'skin' became available without cost.

Reindeer Island Activity

This is a new 10 day activity.  The final reward is a Festive Reindeer.

At 500 Stars, you receive a new Animal in the form of the Festive Reindeer and some Diamonds.  There is a prompt cobgratulating you and tellibg you that you are free now to explore, but I need to suss out why I would need to continue, apart from it being a pretty map.  

At 400 Stars, the chest contains Energy, Diamonds and a Lovely Gingerbread House Decoration for Seaside.

The basis of the game is clearing obstacles and building bridges, Houses and Cottages, among other things.  Items when cleared contain materials, Energy and Diamonds.  I have compiled an ongoing list of the obstacles and the rewards they contain when cleared using Energy.

The game is fueled by Energy and Diamonds.  Energy is required to clear obstacles.  With Diamonds, you can build without having all the required materials.  You can purchase adfitional Energy as well with Diamonds.

This activity combines aspects of the Unicorn/Phoenix Activity with the Cake Activity in my opinion.

The goals are twofold:

1. To obtain the final reward of a new Animal in the form of the Reindeer

2.  To complete the list of goals that give you the Stars needed to reach the total required for the final Reward.

The icon on the bottom left takes you to the Reindeer Island Rewards Menu.  You will see the tasks, the number of Stars earned for each, and five Reward Chests below that.

There are other tasks as well that appear at the top left of the screen and appear to be linked to specific areas on the map.  They are given by Felicia or Darryl and appear in a sst order.  You must complete the task given to be able to perform the next one.  Completing these tasks gives you Energy as a Reward but will not give you Stars

Speaking of Stars in this context may be confusing as there are Stars that are materials for building and are completely different from the Stars that acts as currency to obtain the Rewards..

At this point, I have two unconfirmed theories about this Activity:

1.  I cannot imagine a player can complete it without spending RC or cash.  One receives only 100 Energy that refreshes quite slowly over time.  Although there are Gift boxes that give Energy and a few that give Diamonds as well, a number of these are located on what I think may be 'bonus' map areas.  These are areas where a bridge has to be made using Golden Tools.   I believe there are two such bridges.   The only way I have obtained Golden Tools is by spending cash.    I no longer believe they are bonus arsas because altbough they have no buildings, you may need to cut down the Bell trees to complete a task that requires 

200 Bells.

3.  It is vital to complete the Reindeer Island task list if you wish to claim the Festive Reindeer as it can be claimed only if you earn 500 Stars.  What this means is that you need to collect the various materials  in quantity.  If you use Diamonds to build, some tasks will remain incomplete until you collect the materials required for the task. Example: Have 200 Stars

Although this is the first Activity in Seaside that possibly cannot be completed without investment in the form of real money, remember that one could not obtain the Unicorn or the Phoenix without the equivalent of a Seaside Pass that had to be purchased using real money.  Likewise, the Seaside Pass decorstion requires a cash purchase as opposed to use of RC.

On the other hand, the total investment that may be required is beginning to appear outrageous.  When I discovered that building a third castle did not satisfy the task of building three castles and I discovered I was expected to upgrade a Level 1 Castle to Level 2 using significantly more materials, my hopes began to dim.   How can this Reindeer cost more than the most expensive premium decorations?

I had completed all goals apart from the one of building three castles, having 200 Gingerbread Men, Having 200 Bells and finding 3 Mary's Surprise Gifts.

I proceeded to complete the task of finding 3 Mary's Surprises.  This increased my total Star count to 400, allowing me to obtain more Energy and Diamonds and the Lovely Gingerbread House for Seaside

The May's Surprise Gift Boxes are hidden behind obstacles.  AS IYLT TURNS OUT, THE LOCATION MAY BE DIFFERENT FOR EVERY FARM.  ONE WAS HIDDEN BEHIND A LARGE GOLDEN TREE ON MY SECOND FARM.   They were behind Bell Trees on my primary farm, although I did not pay attention at first.  If you look at the Energy cost of cutting down a Bell Tree, you will see you need over 200 Energy to remove it.  Be prepared.

I will try to describe their locations:

AGAIN EVERY FARM IS DIFFERENT!

Two are in icy areas and one in green.  I am trying to describe them after the fact unfortunately.

1. One can be found on the largest area at the bottom of the map with two Wooden Suspension Bridges.  Close to the lower bridge is a hedge.  In front of it is a Bell Tree.  When you remove that, you should find a Mary's Surprise Gift.  (This is a misty area where you cannot go north until you remove a Tornado.)

2. At the top of the map in one of the central areas where you ultimately are asked to upgrade a Luxury Castle and there are many ice hedges, go to the lower right corner, to the left of an ice hedge to remove a Bell Tree to find Mary's Surprise.

3.  At the area on the far right of the bottom of the Map, you will find two green hedges with an oprning with a Pit that must be covered.  Go down to the far right bottom corner to find Mary's Surprise Gift.  I think it was behind a Bell Tree like the others.

To build the Level 2 Luxury Castle requires 277 Diamonds or 20 Stars, 30 Gingerbread Men and 30 Bells.

Here are some Energy costs:

Bell Tree: 147 Energy followed by 98 Energy

Gingerbread House: 72 Energy, 48 Energy, 25 Energy

72 Energy gives 3

48 Energy gives 2

25 Energy gives 1

In my game, I need 34 more Gingerbread Men to reach the goal of 200. You use 145 Energy to obtain 6 Gingerbread Men.  500 Energy will give me 30 Gingerbread Men.  I have spent thousands of Energy so far,  only had a total of 390 Stars until I completed the Mary's Surprise Gifts goal.

You receive Stars when you complete one of these goals, and at specific totals, receive Chests containing Rewards.  At 500 Stars, you should receive the Festive Reindeer.

Blue Gift Box with Blue Bow contains 50 Energy but no Diamonds

Mary's Surprise contains Energy and Diamonds

Another Blue Gift Box with a Bow gave 100 Energy but no Diamonds

Some gift boxes give as many as 120 Energy.

Rocks contain Stones

Trees contain Wood

Bushes contsin Branches

Grass contains Grass

Star Bushes contain Stars

Gingerbread Houses contain Gingerbread Men

Bell Trees contain Bells

The icon on the bottom left gives the lists of tasks.  Completing tasks earns Stars towards the final Rewards.

When you find a bomb, you can use 30 Diamonds to detonate it.

WARNING:  Felicia tells you to build a Luxury Castle.  You build the 2nd Castle but it does not satisfy the task.  You must rebuild that castle to Level 2:

Level 2 Luxury Castle: 20 Stars, 30 Gingerbread, 30 Bells

You cannot complete the goal of building three Castles until this is done!

Strategies:

You can go through the map and clear obstacles everywhere as well as collecting all the gifts.  Your Energy will refresh at reset.  I do not know honestly if you can reach the final goal, however, if you do not pay either RC or cash for more Energy.

You can pay for additional Energy and/or Diamonds.  The game offers special bubble deals that include some of the rare materials.

The Mary's Surprise Gifts are useful as they contain Energy and Diamonds and by finding all three, you earn Stars.  They generally become visible when you cut down a Bell Tree.  One needs more than 200 Energy to cut down a Bell Tree.

Tip:   There are little tasks that pop up when you are in a specific area, given by Felicia or Darryl.  You often have to complete this task before you can perform another one in that area.

Although every obstacle yields useful materials, try to be aware of the materials needed for the next goal.  Your Energy is best used to obtain Stars, Gingerbread Men and Bells if those are needed to build the structure required in the current task instead of destroying obstacles that yield Grass or Rocks.  Ultimately all materials are useful but the order in which you clear obstacles can matter.

These are some requirements for building.  Note that every structure, even if there are more than one of the same type, has its own requirements.  As with most options in Seaside, they become progressively more expensive.

Orange Cottage: the 1st one required 1 Branch, 4 Grass

Wooden Suspension Bridge: 1st one required 4 Branch, 4 Stone

2nd Wooden Suspension Bridge: ? Stone, ? Star, 3 Gingerbread Men

Pit: 10 Branch, 10 Wood, 10 Stone

Note that the task to cut down one Mature Pine requires you cut down a specific tree in the North.  Use the magnifying glass to identify it.

Tornado: 1st one requires 9 Grass, 9 Branch, 5 Gingerbread Men

Ice Pit: 1st one requires 8 Grass, 6 Branch. 5 Wood

Luxury Castle: 1st one requires 5 Stone, 4 Stars, 4 Gingerbread Men
